  1. Ok only rating these hotels you mentioned I would go for Snooze! The name is tacky but our concierge association was invited to tour it and I found it charming and CLEAN< CLEAN! They updated most rooms and if you can get one over looking ocean front it is lovely! For one night I would not hesitate to stay there and be part of beach hustle and bustle. In January there will be no Spring Breakers.

  2. It is a perfect choice if getting in REALLY late or leaving REALLY early. It's updated but IMO still expensive for what you get. Food is not the best and limited choices. If you have any time at all, I would stay off MIA property. The MIA airport is really located so close to the city that makes transfers to and from not bad and affordable.

  3. Hi, I am a concierge in Fort Lauderdale who is getting my master's degree in hospitality management. I joined this forum for a class project and plan on helping out as many people as possible with my expertise. I have worked locally for over 20 years so feel free to ask me anything from restaurant advice to tours to transportation!

I would go for Pier 66 over Hilton. IMO the Hilton has kinda gone down hill lately in terms of cleanliness. They have a high turnover rate of staff and personally when I call over there, I can NEVER get anyone to answer phone. Just an insider perspective. You can see port from some rooms of the Renaissance Hotel.

Why stress yourself out worrying about making the flight? You are on vacation! As I stated in an earlier post, I would take the time to explore the Everglades. That time of the year is lovely with LOTS of birds and gators. Rent a car, drive to Shark Valley OR go on a tour....just be sure NOT to pick one of the touristy ones. Find something authentic and you will have a wonderful memory and day in nature.

NO...don't do it...lots of transients and hookers, etc. This is your vacation! You don't want to start off this way, I can promise you!

Actually, I think you are really lucky to have gotten a room there at that time. It's a wonderful fun event! Sun Trolley does run during the event.

Well, IMO in March the Everglades is lovely and since you are coming all the way from UK, you should see this UNESCO World Heritage site. It would be a great way to spend the day! Consider a company that provides transportation and pick up from the Port. They should be able to store your luggage (if you aren't bringing too many suitcases!)

You should be fine! But, I have noticed the security check in lines at the airport have been getting longer and longer, especially post cruise. Something to consider....

I kinda think if you are coming to Miami you need to stay on Miami Beach! I love the new Eurostars Vintro...it's affordable and just off the crazy, loud part of Miami Beach but still close enough to get to Ocean Drive!
