1. Hey there you guys! I can't believe it's been 9mos since I've been on these threads....it shows on the scales:eek: Up 14lbs !!!!! I went to the doctor today and I thought I would faint! I am glad to see you all are still here encouraging each other...Jean, Lisa, Pink, Cerabella......you are my inspiration:D

I am sitting here trying to figure out what went wrong......I am going to spend the next couple of days reading the threads to catch up and (hopefully) get inspired.

Jean, glad Sadie is still training you.....lol.

My Sadie and I have not been in training lately......sadly we are both getting a spare tire! We have so many dogs running loose in the neighborhood, I can't take her for a walk unless I go into the next town to the park. I do miss our walks.....I will take her tomorrow since I am off work for Vetrans Day (after the parade of course).

Lisa, you guys still in Cordova?

Annie:p

I started induction again this morning......eggs for breaky, turkey club salad from Arby's for lunch and fish for dinner.....I feel better already:D I am going to a reunion on Oct 31st so I have to get at least the 15lbs off by then. I am glad to have this support group......thanks y'all.

I will post later in the week.

Rhonda, you mentioned the stomach, this is the right WOE for you.
When you remove the bad carbs from your diet, the body will burn fat instead of carbs......soooooo where's the fat? Beautiful!
Of course read the Atkins book, but also visit Sugarfreesheila.com
you won't be sorry. She is awesome with tips and recipes:D You guys will do fine.

Jean- I also hear adding more fish is good and healthy.....who am I preaching too? You are the Glycemic Zar:eek: I hope you get the good report next time. P.S. White fish grilles up just fine! I just bought one of those wire fish thingys for our grill and LOVE IT!

Lisa, glad to know we are still neighbors. I got the grilled chicken at the KFC in Millington, not sure about the Memphis stores though. I will have to check next week, I think there is one a couple of miles from my office.
Have you tried the chopped salads at Arbys? The grilled chicken and the turkey club are awesome!

Well, off to the grocery for my veggies and eggs:p

4. Sports Mom- good thing you reeled yourself back in and didn't do the damage that I did:eek:

Mondays are sooooo busy, so I stopped at KFC and got a bucket of the new grilled chicken.......folks, I think I found a winner:D I got some green beans for the side (pot/gravy for hubby) It's hard to resist that temptation, but, the prize is soooooo much more satisfying:p I lost three of those thirteen pesky pounds.......it's gonna take some time-----grrrrr.

DavidPatrick- thanks for the words of wisdom, please share any helps/hints you have learned over the years......P.S. What's the "Air Force" diet?

5. Hey there Cerabella! Thanks for the shout~out......yep, good time of year for the fresh veggies;) Since we live in TN we grill all year long, but just about every night in the summer....love it
I know what you mean about those poor and uninformed folks that want to poo-poo the Atkins WOE.....geeeze. My doctor says that Atkins is just eating what God put here for us........meats, veggies, fruits (within reason) but not the McDonalds and Baskin Robbins for heavens sake:eek:......it's when man started to interfere with nature that we got in trouble;)
Bridget- you should be slim and trim by November:cool: And you will sure feel better. Cruising in very Atkins friendly, but, you can also indulge a little and walk it off in ports:p Good luck girl, keep up posted!

Have a great week-end guys!

Annie:)
6. Hi All! I have been away for some time (computer crashed) and so did I:rolleyes:
But, glad to see my buddies are still keeping the faith:D I have gained about 13lbs since I got on the wrong track......grrrrrr. I started Atkins last week and I feel better already.
We are going to Dallas next month and I can't imagine sitting on a plane when I feel so puffy and fat....just not comfortable:o I hope to be down to a more comfortable size by then.

I found a wonderful fast food salad this week at Arby's! It's the farmhouse chopped salad....yummo! It is perfect for Atkins! It is chopped lettuce, chopped onion, chopped tomato, bacon, cheese, and chicken......WOW!
I was in a hurry so the chopped salad was quick and yummy;) You guys may have discovered this little jewel? I am hooked!

Mary- Thanks for the recipe for the muffin. Where do I find flax meal?

Lisa- You still in Cordova?

Jean- You are still my inspiration:D
P.S. I will get a pic of my Sadie for you to see.....she is getting sooooo big! We still don't know what kind of dog she is......except spoiled:p

Pink- You hang in there!

I will be thinking of you guys this week-end......be good!
7. Hi all, I have been kind of busy lately....and slipping a little too:( I only lost three pounds on my two week induction.....but like Jean says, It's harder the older you get.

Donna, sorry to hear about your Grandmother! Yikes! I once used nail polish instead of toner on my face (same color bottle) and that was after I used a scrub:eek: But, I can't imagine how painful that was in her eyes...I am glad she is going to be ok.

Kreeb, I have a friend at work who only lost 13lbs in six months on Nutrisystem last year. She is satisfied with her progress and still buys the foods. I think you pay less as you lose and buy less food. I have heard that you can do the same thing with frozen dinners. I have lost with eating Healthy Choice and that sort before....not as much as when on

Adkins though.

Patti, sounds like you didn't do too bad on the anniversary dinner if you didn't gain. I would rather enjoy dinner and stay the same and then get back on track the next week like you did then depriving my self....that's just me. Congrats girl!

DeckGuy, welcome to the Adkins club:D It sounds like you have a plan. Sorry that your wife is not on the program, it helps when you have a partner. My DH is not an Adkins follower because he doesn't like green veggies, just meat and taters.....and sweets! He just gets soooo depressed without his cookies or cereal in the AM. He has given up honeybuns and candy a few years ago...he had a serious huneybun habit...yuck, just flour, sugar and lard. He has, however, replaced them with beer:p He will exercise though, he stays busy so he keeps his weight at an acceptable range.

Maybe your wife will come on board when she sees how much better you will feel doing Adkins.

Melody, 10 lbs is great! You keep going girl! I would be skipping to the scale for 10 pounds!

Lisa, hummm yo-yo-I-know! That's the story of my life. But, at least we are going down from time to time. I have dropped the Y because of the cost, are you still spinning? My daughter told me they have a bootcamp coming up in a couple of weeks, but I can't make it to work on time after it. I was thinking of signing up until I did the time-math:(

I will stick to Richard Simmons and my gazzel until the weather gets better. Hang in there girl.

Jean, you are always so supportive, we would be lost without you (no preasure there), but maybe you should give us a good lecture and set us straight:eek: Just kidding, we love you advise.

I finally got a picture of Sadie in the snow(she is too dark get a photo in the house) I am going to attach it below. I think you can click it to make it bigger.

Happy Low Carb Week Y'all!

8. Sorry about those steaks Jean:( I know you had your mouth all ready for them, good thing Chili's is close by. I'll bet you had the wings, huh?

Chili's is just about the only resturant we have close by too. We do have a couple of independently owned resturants, but, Chili's is the only big chain place in town. I got a deal on some ribeye steaks at Kroger last night $5.99 lb! I bought the only family size package they had (I will go back today for another) I hope to have DH grill some next week.

Tonight I am attending a surprise b-day party for a friend who is turning 60. I plan on a steak and salad.......Ok, and a glass of wine:p (Cerebella you know what I am talking about;))

I didn't weigh this week (TOM) so I will weigh on Monday and report back.

Jean- thanks for the doggy exercise analogy. We need to get Miss Sadie out when the weather gets a little warmer.

Have a good week-end y'all.

9. Hey Jifner! I have been comin' and goin' for a while now, but, I know that low carb is the way to go, at least for me anyway. My doctor for the past 29 yrs has been saying for years now that we should eat what God put here for us and that ain't McDonalds and Baskin Robbins:eek: Unfortunatly, we tend to go back to the habits we grew up with:p

Oh well, here's to another day!

Welcome and good luck!

Annie

10. Ok Patti, one glass of wine and 3 small bites is the ticket! Your WOE is one thing, but, an anniversary dinner is another:D Is it worth it? That is a matter of opinion. I would say yes, but, that's just me:o Congrats on the anniversary either way.

Jean- I will try to get some pics this week, my oldest borrowed my camera last fall and I haven't seen it since:rolleyes: Sadie was sitting in front of the fireplace yesterday and she looked so cute, I tried to get a pic with my camera phone, but, she caught on to me and tried to lick the phone:p

Lisa- How you doin girl? Are you guys still in Cordova? Do y'all have any cruises planned? We are not cruising this year:( We are updating the kitchen instead. My stepson and his wife want us to cruise with them next year, so we will be planning soon, Feb 2010 I think.

I am off to bed now and ready for my low carb Tuesday, wish me luck.

Buy for now,

Annie:)

11. Great choices Patti! That omlet sounds like a keeper, I will give it a try myself.

I have my boiled eggs and cheese sticks ready to go (I am off today for MKL holiday) for snacking at work. I have my chicken ready to grill and my salads ready too. I need to look up that shake recipe that we used with cream cheese and sf syrup and I will be good to go!

Jean- great pics of Sadie. It seems like you just got her a couple of months ago??? She is a beautiful lady. It makes walking/hiking more fun with a canine partner.

We have a Sadie now, not planned though  My daughter (23) found her abandned on a country road and took her to find her a home, and a home she did find!

She named her Sadie (I think that's short for Satin) she likes to bite a scratch when she plays. After a trip to Pet Smart and the vet for shots and tests, she is a part of the family now. Our vet thinks she was 8-10 weeks when she found her and she is probably a terrier mix. She is close to 4 months now so she will start taking her for walks as soon as the weather gets better. Maybe she will keep us on a walking schedule:D

Well, off to run errands.

Have a good low carb week y'all!

12. Hey there Jean, Pink and Kreeb! It's me again, Annie!

I too have fallen off the Adkins wagon....you know the usual excuses:rolleyes:

I am planning on stocking up on my Adkins staples this week end and getting back to business.

I am so glad to see you guys are still hanging in there, you are my inspiration:D

I will check back next week, I hope to have some good news:cool:

13. Hi Guys! I have been a little busy lately, but, glad ya'll are still hanging in there.

Jean- thanks for remembering all of us slackers:D It's almost cruise time for you. What ship are you sailing on?

Tammy, Joycelyn, Lisa, Pink, Donna and anyone I missed; glad ya'll are sticking with it.

I have been staying low-carb for the most part, but, we have developed an addiction for chips and dip around here lately. I don't know how this happened, but, we are junkies non the less. I swear; we didn't pick any up in the store last week and just as we were about to go to the check out a man walked by us with the same chips and dip we like.....well my DH said, " OK I'm going back for the good stuff".....OOOOHHHHH what am I going to do?

I have been walking and/or doing my Sweatin To The Oldies work out most every day. I have lost about 10lbs since returning from the cruise in Jan. I plan to get back to induction on Monday. As for now, I have a cake in the oven for a party tomorrow.....I don't plan to tast it though:rolleyes:

Ya'll wish me luck!

Have a good week ya'll.

Annie:)

14. Hey there Lisa! glad you are still around!

I haven't been so faithful myself (but what else is new) A triathalon you say? Tell me more! I am not exactly a fitness goddess, so I wouldn't know about such an event. Will it be on the military base?

I did ok today until the two glasses of wine at Chilis tonight, hey it's two for one, what is a girl to do?

I will be back tomorrow.

Annie:)

15. Good evening Atkins buddies!

Tammy-good news about the vehicle....I would rather open a vein than shop for a car. My jeep is a 1999 with 230K miles:eek: I plan to make it to 300K before I even think of shopping.

The home improvements sound like my "cup of tea" I am allways doing something around my house. The patio sounds like a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening:p

Gooselace & Jean- I hope ya'll get better real soon. At least you didn't splurge Easter like the rest of us.

Jean- No I haven't heard from Lisa since we last posted-last fall? I know it has been a long time. I hope she is doing ok. She sure looked good in her formal.

I wonder how Tom is doing.

Pink-Joycelyn and anybody I missed....hello!

I hope everyone has a good week.

Annie:)

16. Hi Guys!

I am glad the Easter holiday is over and we are all back on track.

Tammy and Jocelyn....I know what you mean about the wine....I mean grapes;) Hey , it's the only fruit I ever get!

Tammy- the whole Mexican thing is just a fact of life:D When we go to Mexican I have to just let go and enjoy...hey, life is short! Glad you had a good Birthday and glad you are back in the saddle this week.

I know the wine is not allowed on induction, probably why I never make it the full two weeks:rolleyes:

DH and I have been walking our 2miles every afternoon for the past few weeks with just a few exceptions. I have been really cutting back on the carbs and have a total loss of 8.8lbs for the last 4 weeks. Not the biggest loss, but, none the less a loss. Like I said, wine and Mexican just happens:D

Jean-you are so funny! Sorry about the tulips:(

Ya'll have a good week.

Annie:)

17. Good job Tammy! A 2.5 loss in just 4 days is great.

I haven't weighed this week; I will wait until Monday....maybe. I am trying not to focus on the scale so much this time. I just want to not feel so big, I don't' realy care how much I weigh. Well, of course I care, just trying not to make that my only goal. I will never be "Barbie"again and I am ok with that. I think we have to be comfortable with who we are.

Keep up the good work girl;)

Gettin' friendly with the grill this week ya'll:)

Annie:)

18. Hi Tammy, Welcome to our little loosers club:D Wow 60lbs! Yea, I am one of those yo-yo Atkins people too. I think we know what to do and just haven't made a complete lifestyle change, like SFS. But we have each other:p I keep lurking around too, it helps encourage me.

Jean- good job sticking to two cookies! I had 1/2 a box of Samoas, pre-rediet of course:p Wow 100lbs gain for your horse? Maybe he could join our club? Just kidding, my daughter has horses and they are all thick these days. Every time I ride I get soar, so does that mean I'm burning calories? I could just ride a couple of hours a week instead of exersizing?

I like your bike idea too. I live almost 30 miles from work, so that won't work for me. I do go walking on my lunch break before it gets too hot in the summer.

Pink- you hang in there girl! The last few pounds are always subborn. Who am I talking about? I haven't gotten that close in years:rolleyes: You will make it and stay there.

Joycelyn- how you doin girl? Did you have that wine? That is my BIG weekness, I just have to have a glass when I wind/wine down in the evening.....ahhh.

Karen, gooselace how are ya'll?

Annie:)

19. Hi Guys! Just checking in this afternoon. I have been doing pretty good, except for Friday. We had a big winter storm and got to leave work early so I went home and made a pot of chili:D The chili is not so bad, but the nacho chips were an no-no. I didn't have much and I still lost a few pounds this week. I have a ton of chicken in the freezer for grilling as soon as this snow melts. Of course there is no law against grilling in the snow;) I want to try that bbq recipe soon, it sounds good.

How's everone this week-end?

Annie:)

20. Thanks Jocelyn, it feels good to be back. Today is a better day! I behaved myself today:p And some "wicked" person brought a big box of cookies to us today:eek: I just grabbed a bottle of water and got the heck outa there! I even sqweezed in a two mile walk this afternoon.....ahhh I do feel better ya'll.

Here's to a low carb Thursday!

Annie:)

21. Karen 81 pounds! You go girl! Ahhh to be so disciplined.....You are awesome! I feel like such a slob for waisting the last 6 months, I could have been at goal by now....:( But you are such an inspiration:D

Pink! 5 pounds from goal!!!!! YEA!!!!!! You will be sooooo ready for that Panama cruise:cool: I am jealous too.

Jean- good job on the Melting Pot. I haven't been because of the price (daughter went and told me) I wouldn't have been so disciplined.

Today-well tomorrow is another day:o

Thanks for listening ya'll.

Annie:)

22. Hi Guys! I have been working on getting a new internet provider; we now have DSL!!!! Waaahooo!

It has taken almost a week to get it to work (little problem with the home alarm) anyway, it's here!

Today was supposed to be the day to get serious  Unfortunatly I had chinese with a friend for lunch:p I did have some seafood :D But that was the only thing that was legal......tomorrow is another day.

I will check in tomorrow.

Happy low carbing ya'll!

Annie:)

23. Hey Joycelyn- glad to see you are hanging in there! I think if my hubby were to do low carb I would consider it a challange to me to not cheat! He has such will power; I would probably compete to see who gives first:p

Sounds like you are not doing too bad there.

Jean- I know what you mean about Feb/Birthdays! As you may remember I make cakes for my friends and family, I have made 5 so far this month!

There is some leftover cake in my kitchen as I type:rolleyes: I am not tempted yet; I hope hubby and dd (birthday girl) finish it off tonight. We walked 2 miles after work Sunday and yesterday, but it is 30 degrees today:eek: I have given myself permission to goof off on line tonight. At least my fingers are getting their exersise:p

I have to get thru a bowl-a-thon tomorrow and mexican lunch with an old friend Thursday; wish me luck! My plan is to slack off this week and go cold turkey (pun intended) on Monday. I know I have got to simply make a lifestyle change (so to speak) I don't know why I ever let myself back-slide:rolleyes:

Tom, Lisa, Donna are ya'll still out there?

Stay in touch!

Annie:)

24. Rancher Dave- Three cruises and all those posts? I am worried; who is really watching the ranch?

I don't know when you have time!

By the way; do you ever cruise out of Galveston?

DH said that he would like to cruise from Galveston on our next cruise. We are trying to plan another family cruise for next year. We all could drive to Galveston in 9 hours (I think) and with 14 people, that would save big $$$$. I have heard that the folks on the Galveston cruises are more fun too:D

We have so much fun with some folks that sailed from Galveston a couple of years ago in Cost Maya, I think they were on the Grandour? Anyway, we were having so much fun until we heard the ship's horn blow and we thought we were missing our ship:eek: We ran and ran and ran to get to our ship to find that the Grandour was just testing their horn:D Anyway, DH said that we should plan the next cruise out of Galveston.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,

Annie:)
