Thought they might be a bit overlooked!

So assuming 1300 ish cabins ( I think that’s right?) and 2 per cabin as I assume still no children due to COVID restrictions means about 1600??
If someone could check my maths😄

The whole staycation shore excursion rip off is a joke. We’re free to go anywhere in the uk, and the staycation is uk only residents.
I could understand this more for the Med cruises in Oct perhaps.
think we’ll be staying on board and chilling, and not paying a min of £50 per couple to get off.

On Britannia last week, the passenger decks were closed between mid and aft lift areas for isolation cabins on both sides of the ship.
Was that the same on b deck, that would be a lot of suites to have closed as a precaution?

Camberley, thanks for the excellent balanced review.
so looking forward to our cruise in September, just wish we could book a back to back and not just a single week

I think you are going to some extent get people with different attitudes on p and o and Cunard it’s inevitable as they are apples and pears.
Don’t like to judge others, and I’m surprised to the op with some of your comments to be honest, but your perfectly entitled to speak your mind.
I think the staycations are probably attracting a varied mix of newbies and p and o customers who wouldn’t normally go on Britannia let alone a short cruise, so in a way a more varied clientele.

I hope it stays like that...... from 2000 on Oceana (last cruise) to over 5000 on Iona that could be a bit of a shock!
Not sure how much inside space Iona actually has, 5000 in poor weather could get pretty crowded at costa coffee😂

Thanks for confirming, I hate the one to the back of the throat as makes me have a gag reflex.

We were tempted for a suite to the canaries, which would have replaced our sept 22 cruise, but we already had other holidays in feb and may.
A lot of pent up demand out there at present

Sadly I suspect they will be more than 2/3s full, we’re booked for early sept on Britannia and expecting probably 3000 by then.
If it’s poor weather I suspect the atrium may get rather crowded!

Think the service across the board needs improving, we’ve had some horrendous responses from their main reception desk when we’ve had cabin problems. Non working toilet for a couple of days and a patio door that wouldn’t close in the middle of the night.
the website/ booking system is horrific for such a large company.
We have some holidays booked for 22, but unless the prices for cruises come back to more normal prices when 23 is released we may end up doing other holidays

We are not in lockdown! I wish people would stop saying that. We can go to the shops, pubs, restaurants etc. Even weddings can have over 30 guests from June 21st.
We have restrictions.
Agreed it’s not lockdown it’s restrictions.
I feel for megabear2 and I think a lot of ppl are in similar circumstances.
For us we’re getting married in august and have to pay final balances in the next few weeks to caterers, venue hire, dj, photographers etc, for something that may not be what we want. 🤷♂️

Have to admit, I was sceptical when we bought ours 2 years ago, but it’s way more effective than any other fan and really cools a room. At full blast it’s noisy, but still just about manage to sleep through.
we’ve just moved to a new build which is super insulated and so hot at the moment, the dyson does make it more bearable

I had one staycation cancelled on me from Cunard, and felt their next offering was a tad too expensive. Fred seemed overly expensive and Marella doesn’t appeal.
I know .. I am very picky 😉
Agreed if Cunard, celebrity or Marella had been more reasonably priced think we’d have tried elsewhere for a change.

Have to admit having watched snowpiercer it did remind me a little of an exaggerated Cunard. Definitely another taily here! 🤣

Good to see some genuine footage and not just the cgi renders, looks good so far. Like to know how the pax numbers to interior space feels.
-
Is it just me or have they extended the number of cruises on Britannia in mid September, don’t remember seeing these before?

Watched the Eurovision and you can’t help but think that the bbc are following the plot line of my lovely horse (father ted)
read that bill bailey has offered to enter Eurovision next year, and actually think he’d be a great entry.
was watching the yt video of the virtuoso and thought she looked nice

With all the news of a new variant we cancelled our Baltic cruise and booked a suite on Britannia for a week instead, with the view that if it is a full sailing in poor weather we still have a large cabin to escape to .

We are due to sail on the same Baltic cruise having had our Fjord cruise cancelled last September, 4 months seems to be a long time with this bloody plague and it could go either way. Whilst we will be happy to travel I am concerned that the restictions will impact the on board experience and probably limit the places thar you can visit if this is the case I would rather cancel and go when things are more normal.
Tim, exactly how I feel.
I think spending a lot of money to go to a few places which might not be very welcoming of tourists and with a lot of restrictions. Have to admit we’re thinking of cancelling, especially with this new variant.

Would love P and O to announce their plans, our sept honeymoon cruise to the Baltic is supposed to be the 1st Ventura cruise when it resumes. it’s so not likely and causing us stress that we don’t know where we stand.

To be fair, we’ve been looking at the cost of staycations, and some of the prices for Airbnb and holiday lets are insane. Demand is well going to outstrip supply, so I can understand p and o trying to chance it to make back some lost revenue.
-
We often go for d deck, on Ventura or azura at end of the sides for the balcony.
though on d deck I though miss being able to really watch the sea from bed.

I agree with every word of your post Selbourne. Sometimes some of our older folk should
remember whilst we hide away with our pensions ,safe in our houses, waiting for our food
to be delivered that a lot of young folk do not have this luxury . They are out there working
and then at the end of their shift holed up the same as the rest of us .
We came into this
mess as one and I hope soon that's how we leave it ...As one. Nothing selfish about that !
Take care and be safe everyone,
Kalos,
I do agree with your sentiments, I have a lot of friends who through no fault of there own have been out of work, trying to bring up their young families in the most difficult of circumstances.
I know of people who despite what the media would tell you have been made homeless by their private landlords and are really struggling to try and find the strength to carry on through this.
I think that before Boris gives older people the rights to go off and enjoy life and party, that he needs to make sure the economy is working again and help those of all ages who are in difficulty get their life back on track.

Iona Promenade Deck
in P&O Cruises ( UK )
Posted
I think I’d be calling sooner rather than later
maybe they should be marketed as overlooked balconies, another new class in addition to obstructed.
