  1. Any help on getting from Venice to Raveena and the cost. My husband and I are sailing with Royal Caribbean in May 2022 hopefully but they are impossible to get help from. I presumed as they changed from Venice there would be a shuttle!!

  2. We have used AP tours 2 years ago on a family trip from Naples port to Pompei, Sorrento, Amalfi coast etc and they were awesome! They were right there waiting for us with a sign with our name when we left the terminal building. We had the best guide ever for Pompei, her name was Lina and she was a historian. We were one of the first to arrive in Pompei when it was still quiet and before all the large tour groups arrived. Personally we would use them again in a heartbeat!

That is a great recommendation. I am more excited now. Thank you for replying

  3. I have been on Liberty to all the ports w/ RomeinLimo. They are FABULOUS!! Best money every spent. As others has said, they are there waiting for you. One of our enjoyments was eating out breakfast on balcony while we docked and trying to figure out which one was our driver. Ditto on the Vatican guide. Last time we were there, April, there was a four hour line to get in. We were in the Vatican with our guide in 10 mins. SO JEALOUS OF YOU....ENJOY every min. And post when you get back.

Thank you. We have a guide for the vatican. I am so looking forward to the trip. :)

That sounds great, on the balcony. I think we are on the wrong side to see. We are in cabin 6172. We will enjoy every minute. I will post when we return. :)

  5. Here are the other questions:

Sorry if I misunderstood, but I was unable to tell the difference between the questions.

I put the port in the subject line. I wonder if others will get confused too..Oh well. Time will tell if I get any help on the questions.

    Thanks for reading them:)

  6. We are not cruisers, but this vacation was amazing! After two days in Barcelona at the cotton house hotel..line of the finest hotels I have stayed at, we boarded the allure on September 13th. We were in a jr suite which was incredible on the hump deck 12...Augus took care of our every need. We had my time dining in american icon and ate the five of the seven nights. The food was great...prime rib was huge and GOOD. we had either room service or the park cafe for breakfast and loved them both! Park cafe for lunch was great also...roast beef sandwich and create your own salad. Our last night was at Chops and we were not disappointed! Strip steak, short ribs, shrimp cocktail, crab and shrimp cake and more! We had wine, cheese and fruit from room service on the balcony almost every night.

Ports and excursions were great but HOT and tiring! DIY on Mallorca and Marseilles and thoroughly enjoyed roaming the towns! Did a ship excursion to Pisa and Lucca and they were great...our guide irene was perfect. For civitavecchia we did an afternoon ship excursion to lake bracciano, a visit to a nearby town and a winery which was very nice...lots of wine! On the final port day we had a private driver for a trip to ravello, amalfi and a drive along the coast with lunch! What a perfect way to end the trip.

We had a ton a photos taken on the ship as we enjoyed the two dress up nights and had a hard time narrowing down our purchase! The quality was great.

We only made it to the comedy show ( hilarious) and the blue man? Show high was great...the water number was jaw dropping! Wanted to see more but with so many ports it was difficult.

Enjoyed roaming the ship, rising tides bar, vintages, Central Park.

This cruise gets a big thumbs up!

Nice review. I board Oct 4th, any chance of photos? :)

    :)

  7. glad you got the answers you needed from Hanks, cheers Hank.

I too am going to decide when we get there, but we are using it for an easy way to get up to the top to see the Catherdral. So we know what we are expecting. We will see if it is worth it once we get their and weigh up our options

Will be interesting to hear your views. :)

  8. I will jump in. We assume you understand that the Petit Train is like a kiddie ride train that runs around various tourist routes in the city. You do not need reservations (not sure they even have reservations) and you just hop on when it comes to your area and away you go. Their routes stop at the Vieux Port (Old Port) which is the same area that the port shuttle buses drop cruise ship passengers. And if you take a taxi from the port just tell them to drop you at the Old Port. Here is a link to their web site:

    http://www.petit-train-marseille.com/circuits-petit-train-marseille-en.html

For those that want to stay in Marseille (one of our least favorite cities in all of France) it is a reasonable option.

    Hank

Thank you for jumping in :) I thought it was a tourist train, not a kiddie train ride. I guess I will decide when i get there.

  9. Thanks for all the useful info and photos, really helps us out.

We are planning on using this free shuttle and then walking round to the Petit Train and doing their tour to Notre Dame Cathedral which we hope will be nice.

Does the Free Shuttle Bus drop off and pick up from the same place?

May I ask when are you going? I would love to know how far the walk is to the La Petit Train. Also did you book the train in advance? Did the train only stop at the Notre Dame? :)

  10. Once we got to St Peters Station Jackie showed us where at the station we would meet up for the return trip home.

All in all we had about 5 hours on our own in the city. At that point anyone who was going to the St Peters square could follow Jackie as she was going there to get the tickets to the Vatican Museum.

    The heart of the Vatican

At the square the group split up and we got on a Hop-on hop-off bus and started our trip to the Coliseum. We had been there two years ago on another tour, but that was guided and we had very little time at the Coliseum that time so we really wanted to go back and do it on our own.

Since the tour bus had multiple stops it took us about 30-40 minutes to get to the Coliseum. However, as Jackie had said on the train, August is the time when the Romans have their vacation and leave the city, so there was really very little traffic.

We had pre-purchased tickets to the Coliseum, but we hadn’t printed them, so we went to Palatine Hill to collect them. This is a tip for anyone going to the Coliseum: Pre-purchase the tickets! The line if you haven’t got tickets are miles long. If you really can't pre-purchase, or if you haven’t had time to print them; go to Palatine hill to buy/collect them as the lines are much shorter there and the tickets are for both sites. When you have the tickets you can go by the fast track which will save you at least an hour.

See the line of people behind Niklas? Those are the people that don't have tickets... And you have to go about 100 meters inside the Coliseum to get to the ticket booth. So, yeah. Pre-purchase tickets.

As you pre purchased your tickets and so to speak, went to the front of the line, do you still have to wait an hour for the security check?

I have to say again, I am loving your review and photos. Its the best i have seen,. :)
