  1. Actually, YES, if there were a large percentage of Muslim passengers onboard, I would imagine that the cruise line would - and should - observe those dining customs in the MDR as well.

Some people can't (or don't want to) separate their religion from the rest of their lives or identities. And guess what? That's okay!!! :)

I for one enjoy hearing about other peoples religions, and how the cruise line addresses religous issues and holidays onboard, and it absolutely has a place on these boards!

    Happy cruising to everyone!!!!

Holland America Lines have a Catholic priest on every cruise. I am not sure if they are still doing it.

  2. I realize that I didn't mention the Sea Days, which added a lot to the enjoyment on this cruise. We started with two Sea Days out of Miami (giving those who flew in a chance to decompress), then another Sea Day after the first two islands, and finally two Sea Days on the way back to Miami (that, and the 14-day length of the cruise, made the trauma of packing to leave much less than on previous cruises). Before this cruise we were a little worried that we would be bored on 5 Sea Days, but there were so many activities that I made very little progress in my book!

Absolutely outstanding review and very well organized. We are on the March 29, 2015 cruise in 5 days.

  3. We just got back from the March 7 sailing of Constellation (the spring break cruise - ugh) - and we also got the "upgrade" to the specialty restaurants. It was awesome - and thank God because otherwise we would have been at the late seating in the dining room with all the crazy kids! I enjoyed both restaurants - may have to give the nod to Ocean Liners - the room is lovely and the staff was excellent. Sommeliers in both the Tuscan and Ocean Liners were excellent. Also, double check your reservations as we thought we had reservations for all 5 nights but when we arrived at Tuscan the first night, we had no reservations at all. Not sure what happened there...

Spring Break cruise????????? You must have been on a 7 day cruise. Next time do your homework.

  4. I have tried using Celebrity's booking site to check certain cabin numbers availability within certain categories for a February 2016 cruise. Every single cabin number of the many many that I check come back as "Unavailable" but the booking engine shows a five cabin set of cabin numbers that are available. I'm finding it hard to believe that every single number I check is unavailable.

Is the a way around this problem?

Have your travel agent contact Celebrity with your list of two or more requested cabins.

  5. Could someone explain the difference between 1A and 2C cabins?

Also, what sort of activities are available on Silhouette sea days??

    Thanks

Cabin prices are based on location, location and location.

  6. Use Romeinlimo from port to airport. Cost was 160 Euros for the four of us with luggage. 15 Euro tip for driver.

Consider booking Romeinlimo for your port stop in Naples. All day tour to Positano, Ravello and the Amalfi Coast was 500 Euros for three couples in an 8 passenger Mercedes van. Share the van with some cruisecritic passengers. Discount is given if you book 2 or more tours/transfers with Romeinlimo.

Skip the stress of getting off the ship and trying to catch a flight before noon. Everybody seems to do this. Relax and spend the day in Civitavecchia, book a bed and breakfast for about 80 bucks and have the owner drive you to the airport the next day to catch your 10"00 AM flight.

  7. We used http://www.romeinlimo.com for 2 tours. 1000 Euros for 12 people in two eight passenger vans for an all day tour from the Port of Naples to the Amalfi Coast. Tour included 2 hour stops at Positano, Ravello and the town of Amalfi.

The second was an airport transfer from Civitavecchia to Fiumicino Airport for 4 passengers with luggage. Cost was 170 Euros. http://www.romeinlimo discounted the Amalfi Coast tour by 200 Euros because we booked a second tour with them.

  8. My first visit to Palermo was a port day. Our group, which included one mobility impaired sixty-something and one energetic mid-eighties cruiser, walked about three miles from the cruise port to the cathedral, the Norman Palace, on to San Giovani degli Eremiti and the Ballaro market. At that point we caught a cab back to the port.

I've since been back to Palermo on a land trip and I assure you that there is plenty to see and do right in the city.

If you want to see a medieval city, the two most common choices are Cefalu and Erice. Of these two, Cefalu is closer and easier to get to from Palermo.

That's exactly what I said "There is a lot to see and do in Palermo". By the way, tell us about your visit to the catacombs.

  9. We spent 11 days in Palermo in September 2014 and found plenty to do on our own. Use the public bus system from Centale Station for several bus adventures. We recommend routes 101 and 806 which goes to the beach at Mondello
