  1. The Concierge lunch on the Reflection in March was very nice and quite tasty.  I had the chicken and believe it certainly would be acceptable as a "plain" chicken dish. Salmon and shorts ribs were delicious for others at the table.  Pumpkin soup was a delightful surprise.  A lovely way to start our cruise.

  2. Seriously, you will stop cruising on Viking if you see decorated doors? How does that impact your cruise in a negative way unless a streamer hits you in the face on the way by.  While not common to see on Viking, I can't really see the offense to others. The tiny ducks are pretty innocuous as well.

  3. Lounge chair abuse is everywhere including resorts, community pool, ship, etc.   I am not going to get up at the crack of dawn to secure a lounge chair.  When I do decide to go the the pool area it is usually easy to spot the "reserved" chairs--a book, a towel, towel clips, or maybe some sunglasses.  Nothing of real value.  So, after observing for a little while I politely put those items aside and use the chair.  When they return-sometimes 3 hours later I simply say I was "holding your space". They know their crime!

  4. While we enjoyed our recent cruise on the Reflection, we agree about an identity crisis.  We definitely put that in our comments.  Music was SO loud everywhere and the selections were all over the place. The grand foyer really wasn't designed for games but it was used frequently for that.  Nor was it designed for a DJ playing music until midnight or later.  It reverberated all the way to the top decks. Service was still good and we were pleased with the food which we weren't expecting based on reviews a couple of months old. Just didn't feel right on the Reflection one of our favorite ships.

  5. We have our 15th Celebrity cruise booked and paid for on the Reflection in March.  Future Cruise Credits were the only reason for going ahead with the booking.  Hopefully, some of the drastic changes have slowed but we shall see.

Shortened itineraries and the lack of a true balcony on the E-Class ships are driving factors for us.  We absolutely loved the layout of the original Solstice ships and the wonderful forward facing panoramic lounge.  We have cruises booked but just not on Celebrity after the Reflection cruise.

Will be interesting.     She may get an ear full if she has a Q&A like her past visit aboard another ship.   Last time -  Not sure if it was just a Photo Op, but she and here executive staff claimed to work alongside staff from the MDR, aL Bacio, the MDR restaurant.

Is this while she takes time off from her stay in the iconic suite.  This type of "visit" does no favors for the other passengers.  Crew are clamoring all over themselves to please the higher ups on board.  Travel incognito. Many years ago I worked in the service industry and there was one particular area that we were really struggling to complete the project on a daily basis.   So, they sent in upper management types to "help" us.  It went downhill from there.  I've owned businesses and have worked at pretty much every level of service.  If you truly listen to the people that are doing the work you will find the answers to the problems.

  7. I spoke with a SS representative on Friday.  He said they were aware of the problem and that has been occurring  for several days.  IT is supposedly working on the problem.  Google Chrome was suggested but they did not produce any different results.

  8. We were on the Splendor for 3 weeks in the spring.  Great cruise with excellent food.  Even at that point, several crew members mentioned they would be leaving for the Grandeur.  Captain made fun announcements and senior officers were visible.

On the Mariner last month, we thought the food was good but not excellent.  There were a lot Indian dishes in Compass Rose which didn't work for us.  We definitely missed having a third speciality restaurant. We loved the orchestra on the Splendor but not on the Mariner.  However, the pianist was excellent and a wonderful vocalist as well.  There was a block party and caviar breakfast.  Do not recall a deck BBQ.  Jude was the CD on both of our cruises.  She is excellent and everywhere!  The Captain made one noon announcement and I could not have picked any ship's officers out of a lineup.

We had a very good time on both cruises but it goes to show that the atmosphere can be different throughout the Regent product.

BTW, in our experience no cruise line does a deck BBQ party better than Azamara!

  9. Hi Jim.  Enjoying your review.  We got off the Regent Mariner the day you were in YUL.  The Vista and the Mariner pretty much piggybacked each other on our cruise.  We did make it to Saguenay but believe the Vista added a sea day as we did not see them there.

Hello to Kat.  It's been a few years since the Silhouette but still have great memories of that cruise.  Too bad about Celebrity!

Thanks everyone, but I’m not quite done yet! 😉

I did see that the Boutique and Casino are open today and tomorrow. In fact, the casino is hosting its usual tournaments on both days!

Terry Bishop gave us another wonderful talk: The New World. The discovery, occupation and populating of North America. 0-350 million in 17,000 years!

In the afternoon, Dr. Douglas Nelson spoke to us about Newport: Home of America’s One Percent.

Spent some time on the balcony when I noticed we had a visitor!

Later I noticed that the Norwegian Escape behind us were also refueling.

As we near the end of our cruise, prior to dinner, we had the Captain’s Farewell Reception & Krew Kapers. What a fun show the crew puts on, and it’s quite different than the ones from years ago with new songs and dances. Only a couple repeats. (No people like cruise people, YMCA and Impossible Dream).

It was a packed house in the Constellation Theater!

The show tonight is the return of Michelle Montuori for Songs & Smiles.

Tomorrow is sea day #8 in a row! 😂

Enjoy your sea day tomorrow! After reading  your wonderful posts, we are certainly looking forward to boarding the Mariner on Sunday.
