  1. This divides into two separate cases.

The first is if you are streaming from the aircraft entertainment system to your device via the onboard wifi.  In this case, you would have the usual connectivity between your device and your headphones.

If you are instead viewing on the aircraft display screen, then you likely won't have bluetooth to your headphones.  This is available on some aircraft, but I can't say if you would or would not have this functionality on your specific aircraft.

So, if you want to go bluetooth, the best solution is stream to your own device and listen just as you would anywhere else.

I also like this suggestion. You would purchase the alcohol in the duty-free shop in the airport of your last connection before arriving in Stockholm.

Correct.  There are some airports where you can do a connection with liquids in a STEB (Security Tamper-Evident Bag), and others that do not accept them.  Do some research so you can find out what is applicable for your itinerary.

I have been told that the Nordic countries have very high taxes on alcohol, so it might be a good idea to avoid buying your preferred drink in Stockholm before boarding.

Absolutely.  Iceland is another country where there is a huge business at the duty-free on arrivals store.  ALL of the locals stop there before leaving the customs area.  And every visitor should as well.

To the best of my knowledge, Stockholm (ARN) does not have DF on arrival, but I am open to being corrected.

  3. Pardon my asking, but why would you fly from Dallas to Chicago to Ft Lauderdale when American has numerous non-stops from Dallas to both FLL and MIA?  About 20 daily between the two destinations.

Seems to be overly complicating things.

  4. There's a reason for this.  It's called time zones.

Flying SEA to ATL is over 2100 miles and about 5 hours of flight time.  So a flight leaving at noon Pacific time arrives at about 8pm Eastern.  Just in time for the last connection bank.  So there's little reason to have other afternoon flights getting in late at night, or after midnight Eastern.  Thus, nothing until the red-eyes, which arrive in time for the morning connections at ATL.

You'll find this not just from SEA, but also SFO and LAX -- eastbounds have this afternoon lull for transcons.

There is one DL flight that leaves SEA mid-afternoon, but since it arrives around midnight, there's no onward connection until morning.  It's pretty much for local market, and to rotate aircraft back to ATL for maintenance.

Once again, please rest assured I am very happy with my selection.  Thank you for being so concerned with my flight itinerary and choices...it means a lot to me.  😉

Sorry to break this to you, but not really concerned at all about you or your plans.  In any case, you seem happy with whatever you may have.

What I AM concerned about is getting accurate information to the other folks who, just possibly, are reading this thread.  It is, after all, a public resource, and about more than just your specific trip.

The seats filling up were in first class (pod seats).  There is limited availability in those, and especially with 17 plus hour flights...pax seem to book early.  Makes sense.

Not sure how you are finding first class seats on United long-haul.  Were you talking about business class, which is significantly different from first?

Also, your "limited availabilty" is interesting.  UA has 48 biz seats on the 789 from LAX to SYD, and 60 seats on the 773 from SFO.

  7. That's an easy connect there.  Though you have SQ/UA connects available in HKG as well.  Along with non-stops from SIN to both LAX and SFO.

And at LAX, you will go straight to immigration and customs.  Lounge access will depend on travel class and if you are connecting past LAX.  Not for just arrival at LAX.

Also while in Egypt we were always surrounded  by armed guards and weren't allowed to wonder off by ourselves in Cairo or the pyramids, A shame since that area is filled with historic sites you greatly want to see.

Egyptair has a daily non-stop from JFK to Cairo.  Anyone that wants to wander on their own can easily get there any time they want.

    Technically a third party 😉 Airline = Party 1, Customer = Party 2, Mediocre Travel Agent = Party 3.

In WAY too many cases, "Mediocre Travel Agent" is internally redundant.

Quality, knowledgeable agents are rare.  Way too many order-takers out there.

Thats great advice Flyertalker and something I'll definitely consider. Fairly late is 5pm.

Definitely plan on the Flybus from Reykjavik to KEF.  Take the 2pm bus, arrive at 2:45p, plenty of time to check-in, go through immigration and security, do some duty-free shopping and relax.

Should give you at least 4+ hours in town - if you are inclined, check to see if they have a tour of the Harpa concert hall available. Bunches of other things to do in walking distance.

  11. My two kopeks:

I don't believe that any decision has been made, one way or the other.  This is a significant question, and one that, once made, will likely "stick".

IMO, Crystal is merely putting a halt to any new bookings on the ATH-AUH segment.  Call it a way to freeze the quantity of passenger adjustments that may be necessitated.  If and when there need to be itinerary changes, it will be limited to those already on the books.
