  1. Ah didn't realise the drinks package doesn't kick in until the next day, thanks for the tip, I'll check the small print and will make sure we bring a first night bottle of wine then, are you allowed to bring any spirits on board ? It's a postponed 50th birthday celebration so would I be allowed to bring a bottle of champagne or is it only wine allowed?

    Thanks

  2. Hi, first time cruiser going with Carnival in May to Bahamas. This question has probably been asked before but I couldn't find anything in the multitude of posts on here.

Carnival website says of the Cheers drinks package the statement below , does this mean that even with the drinks package we would pay tax on any drinks ordered at port, first cocktail before sail away etc, and any drinks whilst docked in the Bahamas ?

Just trying to work out if drinks package is worth it, we do like to work our way through the cocktail menu but don't want a bill at the end if we've already taken the drinks package.

    Thanks

Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used within US waters. The tax is based on the state's tax structure and the cost of the individual drink purchased (not the daily program rate). For example: if the drink price is $5 and the tax is 10%, the guest's Sail & Sign card will be charged $0.50 for tax. This applies to all US ports (embarkation home ports and ports-of-call).

  3. Hi, could I jump on and ask if you can change set dining to mytime ?

We booked via a travel agent, first time cruise and I've seen on the booking set dining time, I'd prefer dinner when I was hungry and thought set dining was a thing of the past, as well as set table guests.

My daughter and I like to talk about the excitement of the day, plan our next day etc and don't fancy enforced table guests, happy to chat in the bar but dining with strangers a little too rigid for us, can we ask for a separate table ? If so how, on board or in advance ?

We are on Carnival Elation to the Bahams, was a last minute decision and maybe we chose the wrong itinerary as Elation and Nassau aren't getting good reviews but we had limited flexibility on dates etc. Thanks

  4. I didn't realise how prolific captive dolphins were in the Caribbean, it's barbaric and unnecessary and only perpetuated by tourists paying for the experience. Dolphins travel 100's of miles a day in the ocean in large family groups. It should be illegal to keep captive Whales and Dolphins full stop. I swam in Madeira, in the ocean and if the dolphins wanted to approach they could and if not they didn't, they did approach and were curious but they had free choice to swim off again unlike those captured. It's shameful.

  5. Thanks, I did contact Stuarts cove but they pick up at 11.30am from the port so it's not open for me to do the afternoon dives, I might be able get a taxi and rush to the dive shop directly to make the 1.00pm but that would depend on how quickly I could get off the ship, so I will go diving in St Thomas instead. Thanks for the reply's.

  6. I have booked a first time Caribbean cruise in May next year, MSC Seaside which visits San Juan, Charlotte Amilie in the virgin isles , Nassau and then the MSC Ocean cay island.

Is there any diving in the Virgin isles ? I have read up about Nassau and would love to do the shark dive but we don't arrive until Noon , leaving at 8pm so I think I will be pushing it to meet the dive trips.  I have no idea  what Ocean cay area is like or if there are dive excursions. Thanks.
