  1. I just realized we've been moved from our Veranda to Conceirge class (unbeknowst to us).

I hope this is good :classic_wacko: . . . i am wary of free things. I hope it isn't a noisy room. (Maybe because the new cabin lost capacity for more than 2 guests?).

Please reassure me that this is a good move (at least there are cabins above & below us . . . would be worried being right next to a public area).

I've just made the switch from a previously booked Disney Magic 4-night Western cruise to a 7-night Eastern cruise on the Equinox embarking a year from today! Super excited as this will be my first time on Celebrity!

I'm booked in Aqua Class as it was not that much more than what I was paying on DCL for an obstructed balcony (plus I love the rooms like the Persian Gardens, so not having to pay for that more than makes up the difference to me). I know that as Aqua Class I'll be eating dinners in Blu and can eat breakfast in there as well. I've looked at some menus I've found and don't see any indications for things that are gluten-free (as I'm used to on DCL and RCCL). I know my TA has noted this on my reservation, and I will certainly make them aware of it. Are there things in Blu that can be adapted to be gluten-free with consultation and pre-ordering?

Any experiences dining in Blu and being gluten-free are greatly appreciated!!

My mom is celiac, and loves celebrity (esp. Gluten free breadsticks).

  3. Just found this on YouTube . . . reposting here in case others like seeing weddings -- and celebrity cruise ships. A nice combination. (A beautiful video; I hope this thread can remain positive as many of us like to look back on happy days and events).

Do you have the latest version.    On the latest version there is a logon screen and once filled in shows all my reservations going out to 2021.   They even show the reservations on ships that are not supported.

At the very bottom of the page there is a link to "Get more Details on Ships we Support.

When you select this it shows the 5 Ships that are supported -  Constellation, Edge, Equinox, Millennium and Reflections.  When you select the ship it has sailings out to Jun 15 currently.

Even though those dates are out there only the current cruise can be counted on for accuracy.

    Ah. Summit isn't supported. 😞

  5. I've been seeing a lot of pictures of the revolutionized ships and the Edge. It seems like Celebrity has responded to guests requirements for electricity.

I am going on a cruise next month (Summit 1st cruise out of dry dock), and was planning on buying an extension cord with USB plugs for charging my devices. However, I might not buy one as it seems the post-revolution ship will solve this previous deficiency.

Many cruisers use extension cords to deal with lack of outlets (as evidenced by Amazon's recommendation of buying extension cords when looking up other cruise items).

The only thing I'd worry about is showing up and not having outlets as shown in the Millennium pictures I've seen posted, or trying to plug a device in and finding out it wasn't connected (or doesn't have a live feed of electricity).

I could make due with a power brick if all else failed.

Can I trust Celebrity to modify Summit in a similar manner to Millennium, or should I buy a USB extension port (just in case)?

I leave $2 every day with a note thanking them for something plus a snack size candy bar.  If they don't/can't eat it, I am sure they have a friend that can.  If I am going into port, I ask them if there is something I can pick up for them.   Ironically, they usually thank me for the candy but never mention the extra bucks (lol).

Love this response. Sounds like a reasonable way of treating the stateroom attendants as human beings!

There are a couple of glass fronted cupboards (why?) and the safe is in one. The safe isn’t big enough for an I pad.

Thanks so much for posting this . . . any way we can get rough dimensions of the interior safe?

We don't want to bring expensive items that won't fit onto a post-revolution cruise!

Have an awesome cruise!!! I wish you good weather and calm seas!

  8. The cruise we are going on in March is for our honeymoon . . . getting married 2 days before cruise leaves port. I was just going to put a sign that said "Just Married" and the date on it ❤️ (sweet & simple). I figure it'd help recognize our door, and would sort of be like the sign on the back of a car after a wedding . . . people normally don't decorate their car . . . but after a wedding, some decoration is appropriate.

Just debating whether magnets or 3m strips are the way to go to adhere the sign . . .  maybe bring both.

No they definitely are complimentary, as you move along the needs continuum cash is replaced by other motivating factors.  that is why the comment cards, guest questionnaires,  and client feedback are so important as addition rewards are based on them; for example time off in port to go ashore and escape for a few hours.

It is not an either or situation.  Multiple forms of recognition have a multiplier effect on behaviour.

Never said treats rather than cash...do both. Do something creative...just don't give them meaning less trinkets.

For example we are on a cruise next week and in addition to the prepaid grants, we expect to spend an additional an equivalent amount in supplemental grats.  I also have about $25 in chocolate to be split among 8 to 10 people....small price to pay for making someone's day........

One solution does not work for everyone.

    Thanks ScubesDad,

When I originally posted this, I wasn't thinking giving a gift instead of additional cash, but in addition to more cash  . . . just something to brighten an employee's day. We all know how hum-drum our work can get and sometimes a little unexpected perk can brighten our mood and help us get through the day with a (genuine) smile on our face.

I saw a professionally done youtube video (think 20/20 caliber) on Celebrity ships talking about how staff aboard one Celebrity ship (as an example of employment on cruise ships in general) were treated . . . they sent a reporter as a cruise guest, and another as an assistant waiter staff member to see what their experiences were like. (I'd post it, but it makes you feel somewhat bad about cruising).

Of course most of the staff come from countries with poorer working conditions, but I still feel for fellow humans when they've had a stressful/long day at work regardless of their background.

Might bring some candies from the Philippines, as I know many crew are from there, and my Filipino friends' eyes light up whenever they see these candies. If our stateroom attendant wants they can have them (and share with their friends). If not, more delicious candy for me on the plane trip home.

I'll be sure to try and write a positive review as well.

  10. Can someone confirm the USB ports?

I use my cellphone as a medical monitoring device, and need to have it charging by my bedside (nightime alarms suck, but keep me from sleeping through bad medical circumstances). Might bring a power brick to charge phone on nightstand (as a back up).

If the USB ports work, maybe I don't have to buy an extension/USB port for the Summit's 1st sailing out of dry dock in March.

You can upgrade or switch cabins after doing check in. I did. Call your TA or Celebrity if you booked directly.

I think the cruise is booked solid. Doesn't show on celebrity website (1st after drydock). Oh well, I want to do aqua class next time . . . preferably with an itinerary with more sea days.

  12. Just wondering if there are any good shows that Celebrity cruisers would recommend: Comedians (name), musical, etc.

Just want to make sure I don't miss anything and regret it.

Our favourite entertainment on our last cruise (Royal C) was a piano man who played guests' requests (in the schooner bar) . . . he had everyone sing along with him . . . awesome entertainer. I hope Celebrity might have something like that.

  13. OK. Feedback has been very unanimous. I agree.

Maybe this is more of a thing for Carnival or family-oriented ships where parents are trying to teach their kids to be considerate of others in a symbolic way.

I'm glad we have these boards to get feedback before making any rash decisions. 😊

  14. Watching a dollar tree video on Youtube, and the vlogger mentioned buying gift items (candy) for their stateroom attendant.

Sounds like an excellent idea -- they probably work months at a time without much time away from the ship . . . they might like a few snacks from your home country/region (stuff they wouldn't serve in the crew buffet, or might not sell in the crew store).

    Does anyone else do this?

    Sounds like a great idea.

  15. After reading these forums, I was thinking of looking at Aqua Class (and see if the upgrade would be reasonable)... but I think I am locked in (already did check in before I joined Cruise Critic).

Used to show "change rooms", but now it doesn't.... maybe next cruise we will upgrade.

  16. We are going on a 5-night cruise in March 2019, and I am thinking of using my free bag to wash our  (2 adults) departure from Canada clothes (jeans, t-shirts, and underwear/socks) . . . would that work? It would be nice to return to Canada in clean clothes (and not have to pack a second set of long pants . . . too cold to wear shorts in Canada before late June).

  17. I've seen on youtube that some cruisers decorate their room door. I've never done this, but thought it is a cool idea.

    Do Celebrity cruisers do this?

Are there any fire hazard rules?

What about anything that would be good/bad taste in door decor?

I am thinking of putting up something sweet & simple, but might expand a little if I feel it would be appropriate.
