  1. Not true - I've been to many ports where a photo ID is required to enter the port area. Your sea pass, when inserted into the various machines onboard bring up your photo.

Your picture is not visible on your Seapass Card it is embedded in the Magnetic Strip and will only come up on the Machines as you enter the ship, not at the port entry.

  2. I was in 11325 on Allure last summer, so just on the other side and 1 deck lower. You can see the shows but is not a straight on view. You kinda have to stand right against the rail and look to the left in your case or watch on the screens. Deck 12 might give you a better view of the screens for the movies but you really can't hear it well. I didn't experience to much noise from the boardwalk except during the shows. I had no issue sleeping thru the night.

Have a great cruise, you picked a great ship.

  3. Go to the airport, check your luggage and then enjoy your day. I know this means limiting your carry on. Maybe someone else has another suggestion. In San Juan there is a restaurant that will check luggage for free but I don't know of any place like that in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

You can only check your luggage 4 hours before your flight. We have had to sit in the check in area for an hour or more since we got to the airport 6 hours before the flight.

I would look for an Excursion in Fort Lauderdale that takes you to the airport when done.

  4. On Oasis Class Ships, they have 2 ways to look at you pic's. One is the Computer Kiosks where you swipe your Sea Pass Card and they show up on the screen. They also have these round units that have numbered binders what have the actual photo's in them. The number is on your Sea Pass Card.

The system works for the most part but we have often found other peoples pictures in our binder.

  5. You basically get a "free" deposit if you book on board. You pay for the Future Cruise with a credit/debit card, and then they credit you that same amount on your Set Sail account, so its essentially a wash. You can modify the cruise if later on you see a better itinerary, pricing, etc. You also don't have to keep the same category of ship. We booked a GS on Anthem (initially just myself and the Mrs) and have since switched it to connecting Virtual Insides (sailing with the kids).

Keep in mind, if you take the OBC for the Cruise you are currently on, you cannot cancel that booking without a penalty you can transfer it but not cancel. Our TA emailed us while we were considering our options and gave us that little tidbit of info. We applied the OBC to the new booking and when we got home we also got the OBC that our TA was offering as well.

  6. Well at last our time is here. I'm sitting in our room at the Hyatt Pier 66 looking at the Oasis and we are ready for tomorrow. Our first ever Royal Caribbean sailing after 20 Disney cruises, we are excited but a little anxious about sailing a new line. We have done all the research, asked a ton of questions here and gotten great feedback from many of you. Restaurants and shows are booked, forms completed and printed, cameras charged.

For background, we will eat at Chops, Izumi Hibachi and Giovanni's. We have the late dining time in the MDR as well. We have booked all the shows - whether we see them all is another thing but we will definitely see Mama Mia and Oceanaria. I have booked a premium drink package for myself and my wife is bringing 2 bottles of wine onboard for her primary consumption. My daughters (12 and 17) have their own cabin - an inside across the hall from our 8th deck balcony cabin - for the first time ever and that has brought a lot of excitement their way.

I won't be posting pics because I find having to use photobucket too much a pain, but I will try to offer some insights here to help future cruisers like us.

Today we are hoping to paddleboard (me) and kayak (girls) here near the hotel, then plan to dine on Las Olas later tonight after some pool time and maybe a quick trip to the beach. It's vacation time folks! Woo Hoo.

Hey jd99, we are flying in to FLL in a few hours and can't wait to board tomorrow. How's the weather in Ft Lauderdale ATM?

We have 6 in our party 3 Emerald and 3 Newbies. can't wait to walk into the Promenade and see their faces!

  7. Some CDs work very hard to come up with new Quests.

Abe Hughes, on the Anthem, had an almost entirely new list of things. He even varied it a little on a B2B. (possibly after I did something - ahem - "questionable" on the first one. ;) :D

How could you do anything "Questionable", LOL! Can't wait to catch up with you again! :D

  8. I am on board with xpcdoojk. We didn't get the private lesson till after our DS's could do the basic Bodyboard tricks. After the Private lessons, the staff then gave them a little more time when riding.

Since that lesson, both my sons became very active in the Flow Riding Community outside of RCCL. Luckily we have a Waterpark with a Flow Rider about 10 Minutes away from home. last year my youngest some was the Men's National Champion of the 2015 Flow Tour and Flow Series, and this year he is riding hos first year as a Professional Body Boarder on the Flow Tour.

    Thanks RCCL! :D

  9. You will get many different opinions on this. I have had PR Cabins on Liberty and the only time it seemed overly loud was during the Parades and the 80's party! Other then that it was fine!

For Allure you may also consider a CP View Cabin which is very peaceful. I had my kids booked in one on Oasis and they had no issues!

  10. When we go to FLL we usually stay here

    https://www.choicehotels.com/florida/hollywood/quality-inn-hotels/fl243

Free shuttle from the airport and I believe free to the ship or a minimal charge sorry it's been a while. Then for $10 or $15 they will pick you up at the ship after the cruise and take you to the airport. The hotel is clean and inexpensive with a Kmart and restaurants within walking distance.

For this one, book the Snooze and Cruise package and Shuttle to the Pier is free. The shuttle back to the Airport after the cruise is $10 pp. We have stayed there for all but 1 Cruise out of FLL and will stay for the upcoming Cruise as well. There are a few FF places nearby or a Dave and Busters is about a 10 minute walk. You can also arrange for a shuttle to take you to a restaurant if you want.

  11. Just boarded Adventure of the Seas. All I have to say is this whole group of people just kills me. "Check-in is a nightmare," "the ship is tired," "the staff is grumpy," "bar staff is slow," blah blah blah.

We arrived at the pier at 12:15. Found the platinum and above bag drop all the way to the left as indicated on these boards - great tip! And we're on the ship at 12:45.

I've officially learned to never take people's reviews on this site seriously. The ship looks great! The staff is super friendly! We've been served instantly multiple times already and with many smiles. I'm so excited for a wonderful week.

Give me a break! Sail Adventure. If you're miserable stay on shore and leave the fabulous vacations for those of us who appreciate it. Have a great time. Enjoy life!!!

    xoxo

We have sailed Adventure twice, and both times we had a great experience. Staff was always friendly, and ship was great except missing a Flowrider for the boys!

  12. Yes, you can do it any day. Now, if you make your account a CASH account when you do online check-in, instead of giving a credit card, they won't even charge you the 5%!!!

(I made $25 this way on the Anthem a couple of weeks ago! ;))

Hi Merion Mom, just way to funny! Hope all is well and would love to sail with you again soon! :D

  13. How much of what happens in Haiti really affects Labadee? Just seems so closed off from the rest of the country. It has a fence with guards, so pretty well protected. To be honest, we never explored the island, but I had heard about people saying when you get closer to the fence you may see people begging. Not sure how true that is.

This can happen especially when you are enjoying the BBQ lunch. One of the locations is very close to the fence and we have seen kids begging for food!

  14. We did the hibaci experience on Allure's transatlantic this past October/November. Possibly the best food I had on the entire cruise. We also went to Samba and were very disappointed. The portions of meat they give you are small (for instance 1 lamb chop and you know how big those aren't) plus you have to get your own appetizer, salad and dessert. As far as we were concerned it came close to being a rip-off. Please note on the hibaci experience when you reserve they charge you $30.00 but when you get to the restaurant it is an extra $5.00 for a combo meal (chicken and steak for instance.) Still was excellent and I highly recommend it!

Samba Grill is no different then any other Brazilian Steakhouse. The cuts of meat are small so you can enjoy more of them. They will keep serving you till you change from Green to Red. So if 1 Lamb Chop was not enough, ask for another it shouldn't be an issue. As far as getting your own Appitizers, that is again the same at most Brazilian Steakhouse. I thought it was very good but the rest of my family wasn't used to it.
