I'm on this cruise as well and saw that email this morning.  It actually sounds like it might be kind of interesting and something a little different.  I have the ability to opt out but won't do that.   If I were upset about it, I would simply cancel and take the FCCs through my Princess Vacation Protection.  But, we have always been able to find a place to hide out on a ship ... or we can choose to be in the thick of it.  That's what is so wonderful about cruising .. as much or as little as we choose to do.

BTW, I thought something was up when they shut down the bookings for about a week or two last month.  I imagined it might have been a large group that was signing up to be onboard.

See there’s a good attitude.    Go with the flow.  You’re on vacation.

Just looked up Monkey Kingdom. They do "Made in Chelsea" - ugh. Maybe they are making their version of the new Love Boat dating show? I think what's upsetting me is throwing this at us last minute with no information, and us having to email the production company by Sunday to opt out.

So why not email them and find out what it is and some information.
that’s the first thing I would have done.
personally I would enjoy watching or being involved.   But that’s me.
im on vacation. Why not have some fun with it.
plus it’s a big ship.  Plenty of places to make sure you avoid the shooting.

I'm unhappy too. They must have known this was due to happen and we should have been informed. As it is the UK channel ITV I think it will be The Cruise, so they will be filming all over, following the crew as they do their work and interact with passengers.

I see we can opt out. I wonder if that would mean they would blur our faces.

If it’s an ITV, it could be a new season of The Cruise which spends most of the time behind the scenes - it’s about the crew not the passengers.  You can view that show on YouTube - search for « The Cruise ».  I think, but not sure of this, that the New Love Boat is a US show not an ITV (UK) show.

It’s not the Cruise.  Wrong production Co….   Title role productions does the cruise.   And this is Monkey Kingdom.

It’s The Cruise. 80% of filming will be in crew areas, but they do follow the crew into public areas so you could be in the background. As they said above, the focus is on the crew. Unless there happens to be a passenger who has something dramatic happen when embarking (luggage falls into water, passport stolen, etc), they won’t care if you’re there.

What makes you think it’s the Cruise ?

I submitted the benefit clame form several weeks ago and only received a confirmation of recipient email.

My cruise is in 18 days.

Should I have a response by now?
Where does the credit show up in my docs?

    thanks

I’d submit it again and call.
took mine under a week to get.
go to NCl.com and go into your cruise summary. It should be listed there

I would hope the cruise lines would hold up on porting their for a while to give them time to get things accessed properly after the recent storm. I'm sure there will have to be a lot of rebuilding in certain areas. All different  areas  will need to help each other.

While I agree.  But PR needs these ships to survive.  Covid was hard enough. Last thing they needed was another storm.
Hope things can recover very soon.
I’ll be there in Feb.   love PR.

Most of the damage was in Ponce, not near Old San Juan. The restaurant in old San Juan might have it's own generator.

That’s a possibility I’d guess. But they have cell service too.  As does a few other places I follow as there posting too.

Have you seen pictures on the news? The whole island has no  electric power? Some parts of the island has had 30 inches of rain.

I believe this to be untrue.    My favorite restaurant in old San Juan  is open to make Togo orders as of 10 hours ago.  And posting on social media.
so not everyone is without power.

Hmm, “Pro” Photos is a stretch.  I think there are two main reasons for the decrease in people picking up packages.  1: Price, they’re just too expensive.  Have a reasonably priced package.  2: Most of the Ship Photographers don’t know how to use their equipment properly or compose shots well.  Bad pictures at a high price don’t sell.

In terms of “formal” or “dress up” nights, I think the limits on luggage and tendency of a lot of people to have carry on luggage, limits what can be brought.

Personally, I always enjoyed the formal nights.  For holiday cruises, I still bring a tux or tails.  For most others, a couple of suits and some sport jackets.  I know, I’m very much in the minority.  But my DW and I enjoy ourselves.

That’s all that matters is that you enjoy yourself.
People need to not worry about what others do as long as they enjoy themselves

I enjoy seeing the families dressed up for formal nights.
me traveling solo. Not so much.  I’ve always hated wearing a suit or a tie.
    never had to.  Never will.

  10. I’ve taken a small multi tool on just about every cruise I’ve been on.   I leave it in my toiletry bag you just never know when you might need it.  Have had it in there for close to 10 years.  Only time I take it out is if I don’t check bags.   But I usually always check bags.
have one in every car too.

I'll check again. Seemed like you needed to either click "I have sailed" or  "I am booked". Maybe they changed it?

You can apply before or after you book.
mom new to MSC and my first cruise is coming up in January.   I booked.  Then applied for status match from RCL and got my status match in a few days.   Now I’m already a Gold status on MSC and never been in a ship. Lol.  I’m Emerald on RCL.

  12. So if the cruise line adds the tips to the cruise charge and not an added fee then what.  now your paying a few hundred more for your cruise.  So what’s the difference.
One  person doesn’t give you good service you going to ask for all your money back for the cruise?

You gonna do a charge back because one person didn’t bring you extra bread or you didn’t get 4 towels.

So is there a procedure to get your pre paid tips back if you feel the level of service you have received is not up to the standard your wanted or expected?

So you would want to penalize all the good hard working people that work on the ship for one bad persons service.
    don’t be that guy.

So i called this morning.  He said he applied the discount but i asked about a refund and said i would have to adk on board?  There's a language barrier with them at times...

Weird.  I called 3 times last week. One about this issue and all 3 times I talked to very nice ladies all from the south.  As I could tell by the accent and I always ask.    Maybe try another call.    My 5% I got back to my CC was only 28.00 as my entire cruise cost me 840.00 for a week.
not sure what your cost was but still may be worth another call.

So I had my CCL platinum accepted and im getting Gold level on MSC.  I see it mentions a 5% discount on cruises.  If i booked my cruise before they upgraded my card, would I get the discount?  Any way to contact to see if id get OBC?

Yes. Call.  I got mine returned to my cc.

How strict are the scheduled embarkation times at this port? My flight comes in very early

morning and I was given a 3pm embarkation time.

I also have a 3pm time.  Thought that was a strange time.
never been on a msc ship b4.
I hope I can go earlier.  Seems like a wasted half a day.

why such a late time     On all my cruises I’ve never been on that late.
