I was on a cancelled NCL cruise departing next Saturday. I am taking the 125% FCC but how do I actually find it? Will it show up in my NCL profile somewhere?  We have chosen our new dates and want to hold them but I don't want to put down a $2,000 deposit that will be covered by the FCC.

    Thank you!

Make sure you use a credit card and you will be fine. personally I would try Princess. They are also very consistent and the food and service is much better. That's my opinion after sailing for 4 decades and tried them all. Princess generally gives you the most bang for you buck. Especially when it comes to beverage packages. Only 1 person in a room for 2 has to buy the package. BIG SAVINGS!

wow.  that was some review.   Thank you

Try Princess. There have always been the most consistent and prices are just a bit above NCL but worth it. They always have a great rewards program and they are the only cruise line that I am aware of that lets 1 person buy the drink package if the other doesn't drink. Saves a ton of $$$. Crew is always courteous. Just tip the bartender up front at your favorite bar and you will be treated very well. Don't forget your hard working cabin steward.

I don't know about the title but I will be very wary of booking on NCL in the future if what has happened during the Corona Virus episode with the Jade and Spirit and the communication and "refunds" shambles is repeated.   We have 5 cruises booked on Princess that will ensure we are at least equal in level to NCL so the pull to NCL has easily been lessened.

Pull Finger NCL in your communications to passengers.

  4. Glad you had a good experience. I agree that Celebrity is one of my favorites for getting the most "bang for your buck". Same holds true for Princess. Both are very consistent and I have been doing this for 40+ years. Never had any serious issues except with NCL? That's ok because there are plenty of lines I prefer. We did 12 cruises last year and outside of the Pearl all were very good. I also like MSC because their ships are beautiful. Especially the Seaside however they do cater to a European crowd. On my last sailing is was 70% non American which is ok except they make announcements all the time in several languages and that gets a bit boring. Their MDR is not the greatest by far however the buffer is fabulous. Especially for desserts. A lot of smoking also.

  5. NCL doesn't discount any of their drink packages which I don't recommend. Just find a friendly Bar Tender and tip him well upfront and no more worries. Keep tipping him a a bit each day and you will never wait for your favorite strong drink. Also don't forgot your hard working cabin attendant. Opt out of the auto tip and give generously to those who made your vacation great. The unseen folks, including Mgmt., should not be sharing the auto tips but they do. They should be part of overhead expenses to the Corp. In my decades of experience NCL has been going downhill foe the past several years. Too much nickel and diming. Last time I was on I paid $42 for a double Grey Goose which I believe included the tip. Ridiculous. Heard they lowered the price on Grey Goose but no more NCL for me.

  6. I have to admit the Haven is the only exception. I prefer the midsize Haven ships like the Jade since there are only 12 suites on the top deck. I had a 2 bedroom suite and my friend had H1 which is one of 2 grand suites. The interior is approx 2100 sq ft and another 2000+ sq ft of balcony. Complete with Grand piano. Unbelievable.

  7. After 4 decades of cruising I can honestly say NCL is the absolute worst. Poor food and non caring service especially at the front desk. The exception are the hard working cabin attendants and find a favorite bar tender. Tip them upfront and you WILL be well taken care of. Forget the overpriced liquor package. If you have an issue don't bother trying to contact the head office. It's a waste of time. Of course this is only one person's opinion.

Here is what a person posted on I believe this site:

Since Del Rio took over,  NCL is just a cold corporate machine that at times has all the personality of a clogged drain.

    That says it all.

Nope, we rotate thru NCL, RCL, and Carnival.

We enjoy different things on each line, we also dislike different things on each line. As far as cost is concerned, we usually go with the cheapest option dependent upon where we want to go. Unless we are doing a specific ship.

You should try Princess. I tiny bit more expensive but always great food and entertainment. Great customer service and always consistent. never a hot or miss situation. They know how to treat their guests.

My apologies, I didn't check the date of your post.  I should have posted an NCL comment that occurred before your post.  For sure NCL doesn't post much, but given the variety of subjects they have commented on illustrates they do monitor this board.

NCL will do ANYTHING to make a buck.

NCL did post to this board several times when Kevin O'Sheean was the captain of NCL.

NCL corporate officers and Kevin himself occasionally sailed on cruises and mingled with the passengers too.

For instance anybody who met Klaus Lugmaier on their cruise is not likely to forget it.

I was one of those people and he was a great ambassador for NCL and was kind and made you feel special.

I read he is a regional vice president now.

And getting back to the original OP, I have emailed my PCC twice in the last 3 days and he has not replied.

Don't know what the deal is, guess I'll have to chase him down next week.

You are absolutely correct regarding Top Management!

I was the OP that started that thread. The other decision NCL reversed was making the Haven Restaurant and lounge available for purchase. The outcry from Haven loyalists on these boards was loud and quick. The idea was shelved immediately.

Management just can't seem to get their act together. One thing I do know is that they really nickel and dime you to death. Until they revoked their new pricing a double Grey Goose was approximately $45 with tip. Yes $45.00. If only one of you drink in your cabin Princess will let you buy one Beverage Package and you are on the honor system. I save a ton of money since my wife does not drink. I am not aware of ANY other cruise line that does this. She does buy the coffee card which is a great deal.
