Anybody know the answer to this question? I'm in the same situation as the OP, only on the Magic in January.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I will say, have you tried reaching out to the Bermuda tourism office? I'm assuming they have one. Most of the islands do. I was having the same issue with Bonaire being included in the "can't get off the ship if you're unvaccinated" according to Carnival website back when we booked on Magic for January, even though the Bonaire government websites all stated there they were not requiring tests or vaccines to go there. I contacted a great lady at the Bonaire tourism office. She was as upset as I was about it, and she contacted the right person. It was taken off the Carnival website a couple of weeks later. Try that. Maybe someone in Bermuda will be as caring and helpful as on Boaire!

YouTube "Carnival Magic Amber Cove Port Walk to Maimon" There is a beach within walking distance. Not sure of safety, but there's definitely a walkable beach. Thinking of trying it in January.

I contacted a nice lady in the Bonaire tourism department. She checked on this for me. It has been updated as of this morning. Unvaccinated are welcome to get off the ship in Bonaire.

We had untill 5:30 to return to the ship last Friday on Grand Turk for a 6pm departure. My husband and myself and few others were watching the sunset on the pier in those Serenity deck chairs they set up. We noticed they ushered us out before the 5:30 timeline. Looking back, I realize it's because they were "trying to get ahead of the storm." So we hauled tail north, rocking all Thursday night and Friday. By Friday evening, it's been determined (as if they didn't already know this, as this exact scenario has happened before--Google and YouTube it for yourself) we couldn't get ahead of it, so we bob like a cork off the coast of Florida/Georgia for half a day before it's decided we'll "follow" it. Well, I guess the lost revenue of the next sailing was just too much to bear, so we found ourselves seasick and anxious all day Sunday trying to get around what I think is called Cape Henry into the Chesapeake. So much for "following it." Relief didn't come until around 3am this morning. By then, our 8am arrival time was pushed back to 1pm. We were forced out of our rooms to sit on floors with our luggage (I'm not diamond or platinum, after all, so no lounge or MDR for me). We were still waiting to get off the ship at 3pm. Some were still there at 5pm. I called Carnival. No recourse except future cruise credit which I told them they could stick where the sun don't shine. I hope this gives you some idea of what really happened on the Pride.

We just got off this sailing. I'm done with Carnival. And I'll NEVER cruise from any port north of Florida again. It's not an extended vacation, people. And I'm not so in love with Carnival that I'll tow the company line and say it was anything but a cluster all the way around. Believe me, if I could in some way make sure you people making light of what went on on that ship the last three days would have to experience the "extra sea days," I would. Visibility to persons above is almost none unless you're near at the edge of the small cliff looking down and there's no lifeguards or police at the beach and sometimes there are folks up to no good roaming around so if you decide to go there, be very aware of your surroundings. If you want some advise, walk a bit further to Escambron beach. Much better beach and safer.

I'm glad to hear it's walkable from the pier. Can you speak to safety? It seems a little hidden.

Can you give a little more info or check the name of this beach? I am local but I don't seem to recognize the name. Closest thing I can mention is Peña Blanca and that is literally on the other side of the island, about a two hour drive away.
To back up alfaeric, it is the small beach down a steep set of stairs behind El capitolio.

I really wish Carnival would add a package like that. We'll be on our first RCI cruise in January (only sailed Carnival up till now), and from my research, that's one area RC is going to beat Carnival for me. Bubbles is great, but a package between Cheers and Bubbles for non-alcoholic drinkers would be awesome!

From my understanding from asking several questions about the Pride and Baltimore exclusively, everything is usually about an hour behind the other ports. I've also read on here that they won't let you park until nearly 3/4 of the previous cruise has left the parking lot and the police make you circle the parking lot until they clear you to park. My husband and I are on the Pride in November. You might want to limit your search on here to posts about the Pride. I'd just hate for you to have stress related to the port situation and getting there too early. I'd also hate for you not to get full advantage of your FTTF. I'll try to find some previous threads relating to this for you if I can.

My husband and I rented a car on our own in St. Thomas and drove to Magens Bay. That was in 2010, and the rental office was just outside the port area. Very easy process. But be sure to book the car in the name of the person who will be most comfortable driving in very mountainous terrain and on the left side of the road. Found that out the hard way!
Going to Barbados in November. Planning to either walk or get a taxi on our own to and from either Brandon's beach or one of the beach clubs on Carlisle Bay. Theivery is a problem according to the state department website, but we're willing to chance it.
Planning to either walk or ride the water taxi to Holland House on great Bay beach in St. Maarten.
We've booked an excursion through the cruise line in St. Kitts. I did this because I've read there's a lot of people trying to get you to hold monkeys and then make you pay them for the privilege. I think it will be an issue on the excursion, but figure I at least have some recourse if I'm bothered to the point of not being able to enjoy myself. We're also considering walking to Palm Court Gardens on our own after the excursion.
I'll add that, up until this cruise, we've rarely gone off on our own. From now on, that's what we plan to do. I think research is the key for being comfortable with striking out on your own.
You'll enjoy whatever you decide!

I can't say with any certainty because I don't cruise until November (and we are doing Chef's Table), but I have read that the menu changes yearly. So if what I have read on here is correct, the menu should be different than 2017. I hope that helps a little!

The "surprise" is at Christmas(and no, I will not do this way again) and the cruise is not till next May 2020. We are on Pride out of Baltimore so we can all drive to the port. AND we are going to 1/2 moon AND I rented 2 cabanas. Sigh...these kids don't deserve this.....me, hubby and Alchemy from now on
Speaking from personal experience with my Mom regarding this exact thing ("I don't think I could do a cruise because of my anxiety"), they should substitute "anxiety" for "control." That's what it comes down to. This will be the rule and not the exception in your dealings with future SIL. And, I'd venture to say, if you think back, this isn't the first example of it. I'm sure you'll enjoy the cruise more without him, but I sure hope you don't lose much money! And ignore the snarky comment about it being about the giver and not the receiver. Not true, but who cares anyway? Some people can't enjoy anything unless it was their idea and they're in charge. Run from those people.

I'm trying to imagine a world in which someone, anyone, particularly someone I care about (family), being willing to book and pay for a cruise for me, let alone my entire family, and me not wanting to go or turning it down or "changing my mind." Ya'll who do it are saints, and if you need new family members, I'm nominating myself!

We had 3 elegant nights on our journeys cruise in 2019, and the menus were a combo of the 8 nt and 6 nt I think.
