I paid about $150, for 480 minutes. Which is 8 hours.

 

Each login consumed several minutes, and it was s-l-o-w.

 

Plus, they block sites.

 

For what you get, it's no real bargain.

These cruise line comparisons are always interesting to me. I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with the OP. My comments are about comparisons in general. The fact that different folks have different likes and dislikes aside, it seems to me to be problematic to compare cruise lines UNLESS you compare ships of similar age and similar size sailing similar itineraries at similar times of the year. We don't know, but if the OP sailed a short 4 or 5 day cruise on Ruby Princess and is comparing it with perhaps Oasis of the Seas, then we have an apples and oranges situation.

I happened to sail last year on a longer cruise, and then subsequently on a short cruise --- both on the same ship. The experiences were very different to include food and entertainment on the same ship, and obviously same cruise line.

I resist answering questions about cruise line comparisons because it seems people think the experience will be the same on the same cruise line regardless of size and age of ship, itinerary, time of year, etc. Perhaps there should be more similarity, but there is not.

I did the 5 day, and have been on carnival ships the same size, and RC alittle big Liberty of the seas, freedom of the seas, so I think I can compare.

Missed spelled the lobster tails were the size of large shrimp, not ship, (I wish)

I forget to mention the room:

We had a balcony on the lido deck (deck 15) room was in great location and no noise. But again the balcony rooms on Carnival and RC are so much bigger, they have a sofa in the room, and much bigger balcony. This room had a chair instead of couch and the balcony was tiny.

OK this was my first princess cruise, have sailed on Carnival and Royal Caribbean, so here is how I rate princess.

The ship was very pretty, I think better then Carnival, Royal Caribbean blows them away.

Food, Carnival and Royal Caribbean much better, princess was fair.

Shows, Carnival good, Royal Caribbean Excellent, Princess, Horrible, was no better the a high school show. The comedy was good, but there dancers and singers so bad.

Crown Grille, I booked this because I heard such great things, and maybe if we would have had steak this would be better, but it was our anniversary and we both wanted lobster. We got 4 little lobster tails, the size of large ship, and lobster was grey in color and tasted like rubber bands. The onion soup was good, and my lobster cake was good. But would not waste 50 dollars in here at all. The food in the dining room was better, and that was just fair food.

The crew was wonderful, friendly at all times.

I had 280 obc, and used my debit card if I went over the 280. The night before the last night we closed out our account (April 16) and got back 25.60 as we did not use all the obc. I get home, and there is a 100 pending charge dated the 17th????? I called the cruise line and said why would you put a hold on my debit card when we received a refund the day before and close out the account, had no real good answer, so now I have to wait 4 days to get my money back, Carnival and Royal Caribbean never put holds on my account when I had enough obc to cover our charges, sorry but no reason for this.

So long story short, Princess is not for me, I am going back to Royal Caribbean, so much better.

I was just on FB and someone had a video from the Royal princess back in January with a horn battle, and the princess ship had the love both theme.

Which I thought was really cool.

Do all the princess ships have the same horn?

Going on my first princess cruise this Saturday.

Should be covered with a glass rail.

Just one question, it said Grand Cayman and then Cozumel. But it looks like the ship goes to Cozumel first? Is that true.

The ruby ship left today and it said Grand cayman, but if you look on the webcam, its saids bounds for Cozumel.

Thanks for review, I have a few days before we board the Ruby, so any information right now is great.

Smoking

On deck 16 forward by the tradewinds bar has shade close to forward elevators.

Promenade aft, starboard has shade.

Deck 16 aft behind sabaions over looking the Horizon Terrace.

!/2 of the casino. there is a smoke free night in the casino but

you can smoke in the speakeasy cigar bar which is attached to the casino

I'm a table player so I don't know the percentage of slots but I did see $1

 

I put obc also and checked my debt card daily. There was never a hold put on my card

So I guess if you have a positive balance they don't touch your debt card.

There are kiosk machine, so I printed out my statement every day also.

Was there seats in the smoking section?

The lobster at the Crown Grill had to be one of the BEST I have ever had. It was so so sweet. We also just got off the RUBY. Crown Grill is awesome and definately worth the extra $$. Enjoy it!

Thanks for your comments, we are doing the ruby this Saturday. You said you smoked (so do we) and said there is a lot of smoking areas, we are on the lido deck, is there any smoking out there? Any areas where there is shade?

We are also eating at the crown grille, glad you enjoyed it. I plan on eating lobster.

I also love the casino, please tell me they don't have a lot of penny slots, carnival and RC have put so many of them, I did not enjoy the casino, I enjoy nickel, dime and quarters.

Glad you said that about the tips, I prepaid my tips, and also put cash down for obc, I have my debit card listed, but prefer to put cash, and only use the card if we had to. (we never do).

Next Saturday we will be going on the Ruby Princess, and I want to make reservation for the crown Grille for Sunday night (formal night) because that is my 25th anniversary, and want to spend it there.

So my question: When we board the ship Saturday will there be someone there to book it, or when is the best time to do that.

The Ruby was our first ship ever. We don't really find anything to dislike about that ship! She's gorgeous.

I called princess a couple of weeks ago to have something printed out about my pre paid tips plus some cash I put down.

My paper I printed out saids Pre paid tips and the amount

OBC and the amount I put down beside the tips.

I asked about the tips since this was something I heard different things about, they said the pre paid tips are only for the tips, now perhaps they take it out daily, but they clearly said can not be used for anything but the tips, so that to be is pre paid.

I have 8 days to go, and for sure I will come back and let you all know just how it worked.

Maybe the OP just put down OBC in which case it would be used for anything.
