  1. Junkanoo beach has chairs and umbrellas for rent and a 15-20 minutes walk from cruise port or a quick cab ride. They have a restaurant and bath facilities. There is also a mcD’s very close. There were a couple of large groups when we were there and they would have about three or four umbrellas side by side which created huge shade

  2. There will be 4 adults. I realize there are 2 loungers included. For the other 2 people do they just sit on the couch or are you allowed to pull up other regular lounge chairs ? Also, is there any shade when sitting in the loungers?

  3. We have been to Nassau several times, but don’t usually snorkel here. This time we are on a 4 day cruise with my son and his fiancé,this is her first cruise and she has never snorkeled. This will be our only port other than the private island stop. I have researched snorkeling in Nassau and there are so many tour operators and snorkel sites. since will be in Nassau all day time is really not a factor. I am interested in a tour that will offer the best snorkeling experience for her. Any recommendations ??

  4. I contacted Stanley after several recommendations from these boards. I spoke to him twice - once about six weeks out and then again two weeks out to confirm the Date and the time for pick up. He is assured me all was good and he would be there. Since our ship left Miami on Sunday and would arrive in Saint Thomas on Wednesday he told me to call the Sunday that we were leaving as a reminder to him, which I did ..... I did not get him but his voicemail picked up. I left him a message reminding him of the time, date and ship ( we were the only ship in port that day )

He was not there when we got into port. The taxi drivers knew who you was.... they contacted him with their phone and let me talk to him. he denied ever talking to me or me ever leaving him a message and said he would not be there. The phone number I had for him was the exact number the taxi drivers had.

I would say if you were planning to do an island tour with him to have a back up plan.

  5. We have booked private tours on other islands in the past - most guides have a "standard" tour they give. I have received MANY recommendations off the boards on things to see that the tour guide would never have taken us to - like hidden swimming spots, waterfalls, local shops, etc. Once we requested this be added to our tour they were very happy to include it. We have also found a lot of guides have a favorite place to take their customers for meals - perhaps getting a kick back for bringing them. So, for me that is why I have booked a private guide but asked these questions.

The places he talked about taking us were the standard places all tours go, but he also said he would be glad to take us any place we would like to see. Maybe St. Thomas isn't big enough to have hidden gems, I don't know.
