  1. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Very much appreciated.
  2. Can anyone tell me what the 2019 price for the wine package number 1 is please? We will be on the Westerdam at the end of May.
  3. Thank you for the information and for the initial warning. We will take spray!
  4. Thank you so much for posting this. I found your review very interesting, enjoyable and useful since we are on the Westerdam at the end of May.
  5. You have put into words my exact thoughts
  6. The same night as cottage pie was on the menu, there was also steak. The waiter suggested I ordered something else as the steak was tough and not nice!
  7. We are definitely not gourmets. We just know what we like. We do not visit any restaurants, save for eating in a pub (public house) once every two weeks to keep in touch with our gang of friends. On board we just like to eat well cooked quality food that we would not normally cook at home and not something that we consider low budget food. I agree about passengers eating way too much. The number of times a person can eat in one sitting overflowing plates of food is phenomenal! And we find that quite sickening.
  8. Thanks for coming to my rescue yet again. You are so knowledgeable.
  9. Has anyone done this please? We have been told that we can only take a small bag on our two night Denali tour, the size of which in inches is no bigger than 17 x 14 x 4 so that it will fit underneath the seat. I cannot find anything that is only 4 inches wide. It seems very narrow to me. So my question about the motor coach is this - does the bus not have an open luggage shelf/rack overhead where bags or other stuff can be stored? Thank you.
  10. I am so glad that I have read this thread. A year or two ago we vowed never to sail with RC again due to the quality of the food and thought that it was just RC that was affected. We have just booked a HAL Alaska cruise for the end of May. For us, the food is very important. We like to feel that we are having a “dinner party” each evening and eating food that we would not necessarily have at home. One dinner option with our last RC cruise was cottage pie (stewed minced beef topped with browned mashed potato), which is a very low budget meal in the U.K. So disappointing. If the food on our upcoming HAL cruise is not a bit better than RC then we will not be cruising ever again as we cannot afford what we want. And I love cruising.
  11. As someone who has had inside, outside and balcony cabins in the past, in your situation I would go for an inside cabin. Our outside cabin was on a HAL ship. It was over the bed and to see anything through the window a climb on to the bed was necessary. I am not claustrophobic and I think we did not even open the curtains. There is always the TV to see what the weather is doing. We are cruising the Inside Passage again with HAL at the end of May. On the last one we were given hot beverages whilst we were out on deck. This next time we are thinking about taking insulated mugs to keep our hot chocolate hot.
  12. Unfortunately, we were unable to use them as our car broke down 70 miles from the cruise terminal. :(
  13. MISTAKE - the P&O shuttle buses are NOT free, my apologies. The fare was £5 each way for adults and £2.50 each way for children. We had booked the cruise with a Saver fare.
