Thanks all. To be honest, still not 100% sure on Marella. For every good review I read, I see another saying it’s like a Butlin’s holiday camp where the buffets are more like a cafeteria.

Can get 7 day celebrity around same time and similar ports with drinks and tips for a lot less than £2.9k. When adding in flights, brings it online with Marella. I assume the Celebrity experience is a step above Marella.

We've cruised both Marella and Celebrity, in our view the food was better on Celebrity, evening buffet on Marella was poor, service similar on both, entertainment was better on Marella. Other major difference was the makeup of the passengers, Marella mainly British, Celebrity much greater mix of nationalities. We happily go on either but for us Celebrity shades it, especially if the prices are similar.

They were towards the end, but Laura didn’t give straight answers:

eg Will you bring another ship to Southampton- no ‘yes or no’ but talked  around the subject of planning etc.

Sadly we can read into that, no, we won't put a second ship in Southampton, we'll have more ships repeating the same intineries in the Caribbean. And as for future upgrades to M class ships, no chance.

We have booked a Caribbean cruise in January 2025 on Explorer of the seas based on itinerary, but are having second thoughts based on reviews. Any insight would be appreciated.

We've been on Explorer twice, most recently this September. We loved her and her crew, the only thing we felt could be improved was my time dining, wasn't as slick as it should of been.

We'd travel on her again in a heartbeat.

Just a polite reminder that an ESTA is valid for 2 years not just the one entry i.e. if you are going on a US holiday or through the US before it several times before it expires. Just remember to to update the details online for your next trip 🙂 .

I know a lot of people know this already but I just helped some friends who didn't and were about to buy new ones!

Also, if you renew your passport you have to renew the ESTA, it's only valid against the passport you have when you buy it.

    Hi,

can anyone who has recently sailed on Explorer let us know if any port information is provided on board by Marella, or do we need to print out maps etc before we join the ship. We prefer to DIY rather than use organised excursions. Many thanks.

The cruise news tells you how long it takes to walk into town from the port and that's about it. There was some information when you got off the ship in some ports but not in all of them.

  6. All,

Hoping someone has successfully managed to claim for a delayed flight using the online TUI form.

I think I'm inputting the correct info, quoting the Marella booking reference, stating I booked online using a TUI/Firstchoice website. I've not included our middle names as they don't appear on the booking confirmation but I've been rejected twice. Of course there's no way to speak to anyone and I just get the message saying we couldn't locate you in our delay system.

So if anyone has been through this loop can you clarify, did you say you'd booked online via TUI, did you include middle names?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Mike
