We asked about extend your stay on the Ascent last week of March, in Fort Lauderdale . Even being a Retreat guest, the answer was No.

We were told they stopped offering this

FYI. If you are out of FLL international and a late departure, the airport is not pleasant to hang around. No restaurants and few seats  They will not accept luggage any earlier than 3 hrs before flight time and no later than 2 hrs

There are a few hotels apparently that offer a day package.  Perhaps someone else can answer

There is a for fee luggage storage company that is in terminal 1 at FLL

I feel like someone posted that the spa offered iv hydration as a spa treatment.  While it’s not “medical” a saline drip is a saline drip and might be worth exploring (unless I dreamed that post which is entirely possible.) Might be an interesting preventative option to avoid high medical costs. Btw, I know nothing about on board medical services/insurance/etc. 🙂

My wife was looking at the IV treatment onboard Reflection last week. I don’t remember the price, but it seemed to be a waste of money to me.

  3. You must submit for the status match online and it can be done before ever booking a cruise. Doing it should get you the VC discount and your booking should also get the military discount too. The combined savings could be as much as 20%.

We are looking forward to our forthcoming cruise on Seascape, having enjoyed 2 cruises on Virtuosa from Southampton. It will be our 80th cruise and have enjoyed trips on several different cruise lines

i have a few questions which I’m sure some of you kind people will answer.

We are top tier so is there a special line for check in?

There will be 1 security line. After clearing security there is a separate check in for Diamond and Aurea guests.

Does the ship pick up at each port like in Europe?

Everyone will embark and disembark in Miami. It is different than Europe and much more time consuming.

Do they serve water at dinner or do you have to pay for it?
Water will be available, but you will be served bottled water with the drink packages

What is the internet like and is it cheaper to pre-book before we embark?

certainly cheaper booking beforehand. It’s not the fastest in the world, but pretty good for cruise ships

Do they still give a discount on internet packages to Diamond members?
As before cheaper to book in advance, but there is a discount when purchasing onboard.

What adaptors are needed in the cabin?

The cabin has USB ports, and US and EU outlets

Do they supply bars of soap or is it only the liquid kind?
    Liquid soap.

    Many thanks in advance.

yes, but was it process by an US bank/processor?  It seems like from other responses that it will be Paris or Switzerland.  That is what I was questioning (the country).  I just didn't want any charges to get denied because the bank would think it's fraud, especially since the day before the cruise I'd be in FL (checking into the hotel with my CC), then the next day a charge from Paris comes in.  could very well look like fraud to bank.  So I always make it a point to do a travel notice with the bank letting them know I'm going on a cruise and they list out all the countries on itinerary on the travel alert.  I've only cruised NCL before, and their charges come from Miami

You are handling it the right way. I’ve seen people’s cards decline at those kiosks for the very reason you’re concerned about. Although now that you can setup your card online it might not be an issue after boarding.

  6. It’s a common refrain here that the app is very unreliable prior to boarding. Now once onboard and connected to the ship’s WiFi your experience will be much improved. Even that is not 100%. For my last cruise on Ascent I booked specialty dining at Eden, RTG, and LPC. Then the flash sale had the dining trio for half price. I booked the package and canceled the individual reservations. When we go onboard the system still had the cancellations as booked. Luckily we took the original time slots and were all set.

We are probably good with two... On other lines, Me and the wife share one and give the kid access to a second one. But it is good  to know in case we decide to just make it easy and all have one

Yeah the difference with MSC is that your device is locked once you login. So you don’t have the ability to log out and log back in with a different device. No sharing access unless you share the actual device that’s logged in.

We have three people and are under the impression that we get two devices and will need to purchase a third on board if we wanted a third.

You can actually purchase the third device in the cruise planner on the website. It’ll cost less.

I'm Platinum on xyz line and received Gold for my MSC cruise. Never used any of the benefits, nothing appealed to me.

Not even the 5% VC discount. If nothing else, that is a great benefit.

Sorry one more question. Can I apply for a MSC membership number "before" I book my first MSC cruise and use that number for the first booking? Or the MSC membership number is automatically assigned after the first cruise?

Both are true. If you apply for status match prior to booking, a VC number will be given once matched. Otherwise a number will be given once on your first sailing.

  11. Seascape cabins are more comparable to WE. I’ve sailed Seashore and really loved the ship, but World Europa was by far the best MSC ship I’ve been on thus far. Divina was too dated for me. I prefer the more modern touches such as usb ports bedside.

Just off the Edge and they do have set dining.  Not sure how it works but they have brought back Set dining at least on Edge.  It was at 5 and 7:30, see below.IMG_1334.thumb.jpeg.3eb7f058c6b61589d3f1309a52fd21dd.jpeg

Just as NutsAboutGolf stated above, although it says that, no one is held to a dining time.

  13. Actually no real set dining times. Just show up to any of the dining rooms when you’re ready to eat. Usually no wait, but if there is a wait, you can just go to another dining room that’s available. It is never an issue getting a table on edge class ships in my experience. Enjoy your cruise.

Can you buy the package at any point during the cruise or is it day 1 only?

Most pre purchase for the lower price. Otherwise you will have to buy it on embarkation day. The package isn’t available for purchase later during the cruise.
