  1. We are doing our second cruise tour on Royal next year again on the Radiance out of Vancouver BC. We loved it the first time and can't wait to do another one!! If you go to Anchorage go to the Glacier Brew House for lunch or dinner, great food!! Alaska is truly the last frontier!!!!!!

  2. I read that the casino and a cigar bar is also available to smoke still? But cannot find anything hard evidence of? Do you know?

Also, thank you for implying I would "bitch" about the consequences later since you know absolutely nothing about me... I have been told that people still smoke on the balconies, and it is a policy that is overlooked...as many policies are overlooked on a cruise ship. Hence why I was merely looking for clarification as to how it really is. If you are unsure of the answer, that is ok. :)

FYI... on our last cruise a couple were "snitched" on about smoking on their balcony and were told one more time and they were off the ship at the first port. We go up on the deck area that is a smoking area to smoke our cigars. Not sure about the casino as there was a rumor not being allowed anymore. Enjoy your cruise.

  3. That's great...but the reason I asked is that, for a one-way cruise out of (or into) Vancouver you want to search for "multi-city" airfare. One-way into most any city on a legacy air carrier is brutal.

"Multi-city" is also called 'open jaw' routing. So you would look for outbound SAT>YVR and return ANC>SAT.

My experience has been that this type of fare is very competitive with the "Seattle solution" that many use.

Just a thought so that you have all the facts. :)

    Thanks for the info!!!

  4. One way to Vancouver? Are you on a one way Alaskan cruise, or round trip from Vancouver?

Ship leaves from Vancouver and ends in Anchorage. This is a cruise/land tour. We flew into Vancouver last time and Southwest doesn't fly there. So with luggage/4 bags it adds up. We stay in Vancouver one night before boarding. Just thought we would look into something else this time and others had mentioned Seattle as a fly into.

  5. We want the easies possible, especially dealing with luggage. I'm not a light packer;) This cruise is an 11 day cruise tour so need to go the easiest. We enjoyed Vancouver last time. We walked around and just enjoyed it.A friend got us a great deal at the Empire, great hotel and super revolving restaurant at the top.

Roz I like SW and fly them most always!

  6. When I called RC customer service last week they told me that the price was still $55 a day for the premium package and that the price already includes the tax and gratuity. It was reported last week that there was an IT glitch? So it's still supposed to be $55 flat.

I just got off the RCCL site and was booking the Ultimate drink pkg and $55.00/day for both of us, well to my shock the total was $885.50, not the $770.00 I was expecting!! I cancelled it and called RCCL and now I wait for a call back!

  7. This past June 28 we did a 10 cruise tour, Alaska was having a heat wave!!! Never wore our heavy jackets and only had rain one day. Fog kept us from seeing the glacier. As to dress we saw people dressed the same as on other cruises just fewer shorts. Dining room same as usual, some dressed for formal nights and some didn't. I will say it was our most favorite cruise out of 9. Enjoy the cruise and the beautiful scenery, it truly is the last frontier.

  8. Reading some of these postings reminds me of Jamaica, namely OCHA RIOS!! We were in Nassau a few years ago and no problems. We walked around on our own, went to a pirates museum, did some shopping in a few nice places, found a donut and coffee shop went in a talked to a few locals. Later we found nice restaurant that was upstairs and overlooked main street. Great food and there was a guy playing music. We sat there for a couple of hours. So all the "negative" comments are a tad shocking. As in anyplace we go even in the states we are always aware of our surroundings and are careful where we linger.

  9. We were there a few cruises ago and we walked around and saw the sites. Enjoyed it. We found a "pirate" venue an did that, not expensive and it was fun. We found a nice coffee and donut shop and me some locals. We had lunch on main street in a restaurant upstairs that was outdoors, had live music and good food. Also did some shopping. All in all a good time and will be there again next month.

  10. We used them once and no more. We had reservations for 4, myself, my DH ad our 2 teenage nephews. Had our seats and confirmation and the day before we were leaving I went to check info again an our seats were changed. I called and asked why and was told check at the airport. We were spread out all over the plane. All 4 sat in different areas. The flight attendant was the one who told me when you book via them you don't get guaranteed seating.

  11. It is "suggested" but not requried just no shorts or Tshirts. As to the comment in a previous post regarding stopped bringing a jacket as it takes up too much room and nobody does it" is a tad wrong. We see a great deal of men in coats and ties, or even just the coat and no tie. My DH wears a tux and I wear a formal both nights, it makes for a "special" night.
