  1. If you have eaten in Alfredo’s please let me know if they serve salads. I probably will eat there embarkation day. I know that IC has salads.

Anyone have a menu from Alfredo’s that they can post. First time on Royal for me.

    Thanks.

They do serve a salad. It was great. I don't remember what it was called but I recall that it had artichoke on top, or something similar and lots of leafy greens, not iceberg lettuce. Yum.

    Also a vegetarian antipasti.

  2. Once you reach 20 cruise credits, you will receive the Loyalty OBC on each subsequent cruise. If you have 20 thru 30 cruise credits it is $25. For 31 to 40, it is $50. For 41 thru 50 it is $75. And for 51 or more it is $100.

Award is one per cabin and based on the number of cruise credits before the cruise you are taking.

There is nothing extra for having 500+ days.

Except maybe the most traveled lunch or party. Although it seems 500 days won't get you invited anymore.

  3. I tried to look up the precruise emails for my upcoming cruise. In the documents section it said there were none because my cruise was too far in the future. It is only 10 days away. Same with the next cruise which is 17 days away. The emails were available before the change. Is anyone else not able to access them?

  4. Wow, you're a wealth of information...thanks!! :D So you only need a tender ticket when it's early/busy? (the ship is to arrive at 9:00) It's your cabin steward that gives you the beach towels, we don't have to check them out and return them before we can get clean ones (we had to do this on Allure)? That would be great, as long as we don't have to carry dirty, wet ones back!

you will need to bring the wet dirty towels back to the ship. There are usually big bins once you board to put them in, but if not return them to your room.

  5. Thanks for doing the live from thread. We will be doing b2b beginning 3/23 and I will be eagerly awaiting your posts. I would be very interesting in hearing about the entertainment except the production shows as I am already aware of them. If you can take photos of the patters and post them I would be even more appreciative. Post cruise works, since I know internet time is precious.

  6. It's so discouraging that Princess can't be consistent in many things - especially pricing! We booked the Sanctuary last year on the Emerald and paid for 10 days - not 9 as cruisers are now reporting. And as stated here, many spots were booked by B2B cruisers - wonder how much they paid as opposed to the newly embarking passengers. We board the Emerald on 4/8 and I don't think we will do the Sanctuary dash - at $540 for the 2 of us to have a spot in the Sanctuary is a little much. Unfortunately, I don't think Princess will have a problem selling the Sanctuary with the increased price.

I disembarked on the 17th but was told by the sanctuary manager the price was doubling that day. And I know the B2B cruisers were told as well. I heard the housekeeping manager informing my room steward to make sure all the in transit passengers were informed of the Sanctuary price change when she brought him the in transit information for his passengers.

  7. Just a note to add, some things you can ask for in Horizon Ct. are not available in Cafe Caribe. Like my papaya at breakfast. And I think I recall this is where the Emerald offered the crab shack, but I may be wrong about that. Not sure when/if Ruby will be doing Crab Shack. I do not believe Ruby offering it in January when I was on board.

Still trying for that last work. :-) Old habits die hard.

  8. Just curious, but did you use the Sanctuary? If so, had the increased prices been implemented?

I just got off the Emerald Princess. I had the sanctuary for 20 days, booked for 2 10 day cruises. Both cruises the Sanctuary was fully booked for the whole cruise allocation of beds. I am fairly certain that it was fully booked for the sea days. Most of the port days were not fully booked but had more people book the afternoon half-day.

An interesting fact on this cruise was that the loungers in the sun sold out first. The first 10 days they were all booked for the week. I'm not sure about the second 10 days but they seemed pretty full then as well. You can usually tell if a bed is booked, they don't "make up" the bed with towels if it's not booked unless it is threatening rain.

On the last day the Sanctuary stewards told me that the price would be doubling effective Feb. 7th which was my disembarkation day. That means it will cost $40 per day $20 per half day or $270 for the week. I will still probably buy it when I can afford to, especially if I am traveling alone in an inside cabin.

For those who say the Sanctuary is usually empty, please remember that at any one given time, a number of people will be doing something elsewhere - like getting some exercise, swimming in a pool or hot tub, using the bathroom, having lunch in the dining room, etc. I never got to the sanctuary much before 11am because I was busy sleeping in and having a late breakfast. Many people get off the ship on port days and don't get back to the Sanctuary until they return from shopping or an excursion. Few people are there constantly from 8 am until 5:30 pm every day of a cruise but almost everyone who is booked uses it daily at some point.

  9. Hmm, really thought I posted regarding this yesterday.

I am just off the Emerald Princess and was told by the Sanctuary Manager that the price for the Sanctuary was doubled effective February 7th. That would make it $270 for the 10 day cruise. It was $135. The Sanctuary is not open on Embarkation day on the Emerald. They hinted it was happening on all Princess ships, but they weren't certain of the effective dates. They also believed that the price for Crown Grill and Sabatini's would be going up as well at a slightly later date.

  10. I can confirm the increase in Sanctuary price. I got off yesterday. The Sanctuary Manager told me in person on Sunday that it would be double the price beginning Monday. That means it is $270 for a 10 day cruise, they are not open embarkation day. It was also mentioned by someone that Crown Grill and Sabatini's would soon be raising their prices as well, but at a later date.

  11. I am just off the Emerald Princess today after 20 days in the sanctuary. $135 per 10 day cruise. I was told by the sanctuary manager that starting today the price was doubled. That would be $270 per 10 day per person. They do not open the sanctuary on embarkation day. I may have to rethink my inside cabin strategy.

They also told me the price for crown grill and Sabitinis would be going up but they were staggering the price increases. I find that staggering, pun intended.

  12. I am looking on eBay for these and was wondering if there's a certain brand to look for?

    Tia

Try eagle creek packits for the brand and look at Sierra trading post online, they often have them for a good price. I bought all of mine from them for less than the ebay asking price and less than ebags too.

  13. When you get there go to the front of the line and tell them your status. They sometimes have you go inside without waiting. When I asked the princess rep outside he said no. When I got to the door, they said yes. And the elite lounge was good, too. Nice pastries and juice and coffee. It wasn't a bad experience.

  14. I've read multiple posts from CCers citing which pier in Fort Lauderdale Princess ships on upcoming cruises will sail out of and in to. The only site I can find lists the next 7 day schedule only. Can someone please direct me to the site that has this information?

I have an ipad app that tells me, it is called CruiseSchedule Port Everglades 2014 Cruise Season. I think it was free. website is isailings dot com. It's a nice little app. I can't verify the accuracy of the info though. It shows the Emerald Princess leaving from pier 21 on Jan. 28th instead of 2 even though it is the only cruise ship in port that day.

ETA: Just tried to visit isailings and got the 404 not found error, so it may be no more.

  15. Off topic somewhat, but I find that the push notifications on my iphone and ipad come through even when I am logged off of the wifi and have the devices in airplane mode/cellular turned off. At least some of them do. That seems really odd and I have more than one time double checked to make sure I am logged off of the wifi.
