The showers in the JR penthouse suites and above are much larger than the other showers.  A shower seat fits nicely in the shower.  We book with JR penthouse for the larger shower.

We also use the "free" unlimited laundry service.

    Thanks for the chart.

I loved the heated towel bar!

Nice…but how about adding the sq meterage for us Europeans?!

I took the information off Vikings US website, only square feet were listed on it. Feel free to check with your European website for the square meters of each category and use my chart to create a European version. I don’t mind you using my chart as a basis.

This is so helpful.  Is there anyway that this chart or thread could be pinned at the top for future reference?  Maybe someone more knowledgeable with the workings of CC boards make a request to the Viking board moderators?

If I touch the chart it is highlighted and then I can print it from my web browsers. Hope it helps you.

100x easier to read and understand at a glance compared to what Viking puts out.

Thanks! Answers a lot of question people often ask at a glance done this way. Thanks again for the compliment. All the information was gotten directly from Viking’s website.

Sailing on Jupiter this summer. I see the website indicates that wheelchairs cannot exceed 22", which is very narrow.

Does anyone know if that 22" statement is meant for river cruises or ocean cruises as well?

I can't imagine an ocean ship having narrow doorways around the ship for passengers that a normal (26"-32") wheelchair wouldn't fit through.

We are booked into an accessible cabin and the doorway looks plenty wide.

    Thanks!

Update to our visa application.  Got an 3mail saying “sorry for the delayed response” and then proceeded to give the same “need to reload” and “name, date of birth does not match passport” and again with no link to upload.  Next day, email with same bra# and ticket number addressed to someone else altogether with exactly the same text!  Obviously they combined two applications into one so our money and time is totally wasted.  No way to resolve.

Same here! Out so much money and got nothing. We had GenVisa submit ours and even paid to have it expedited! We could have used it for our next cruise even though we don’t need it now…

We spent over $200 initially with ivisa only to upgrade to expedited status for another $500. Still don’t have the visa.

It blows my mind that Brazil started this process, issued some people visas and now has postponed it again!

  9. Cost me $488 to have expedited service with GenVisa to find out now that it’s postponed. Hopefully, Brazil will still send us one so we can use it next year for the Amazon, but who knows… We don’t have it yet, but Genvisa already did their part… it is in Brazil’s hand now…

I wish I had waited, but who would anticipate Brazil sending out Visas and then postponing again!?

I received a reply from the Brazil eVisa team (below). It looks like people on cruises don’t need the visa:

Thank you for contacting the Brazil E-visa Helpdesk

Based on the information provided, if you'll be traveling on a cruise or crossing the border by land, an Electronic Visa (eVisa) is not applicable.”

OR does this mean that a different type of tourist VISA will be required? Perhaps having to send your passport and everything else in or visit a Brazilian counselor. I think we will still need a VISA, we just won’t be able to do it online…

We’re interested in applicants here who have successfully navigated the itinerary requirements.

So am I! I wish I could remember, but someone said that they sent in a copy of their itinerary from their travel documents. I have no idea if they were successful.

I just applied for our Visas also. It took about 2 hours for 2, costing $161.80 for the 2. Most of the time was spent creating documents: copies of passports, photos, flight info, paychecks (pension direct deposits.) Each document  can't be greater than 1 mg.

Visas ARE required, as of January 10, 2024. I used this site

    https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/

Did you send a copy of a passport photo you had taken somewhere or did you take your own photos? I love that you added the size that a document has to be under. We are coming and leaving by a Viking ship, so this will be interesting… I guess we could send them our itinerary for that… BTW Thanks so much for sharing!

Sounds like they are going to have to get this ironed out for cruisers. Pretty ridiculous! 🤦‍♀️

I’m following this because we’re doing the TA in Oct. from BCN to BA, with those stops in Brazil.🫠

I’m following because we leave in late February for our South America & Chilean cruise and then stay on for the trans Atlantic which includes Brazil. So, we have to have everything settled before the first part. Plus, we are leaving for a cruise January 1 - 20, so we were hoping to get this settled now. Looks like quire a mess! We were hoping to pay and have GenVisa do it for us…

The process has been somewhat on the frustrating side.
They are very strict on the characteristics of the photo.

The banking information they require is a little over the top.

They want our itinerary from the moment we leave Toronto until we leave Brazil, but there isn’t a way of explaining that we are arriving by sea and departing by air. That has required another chat session which has yet to be resolved.

Maybe in a couple of days I will have more helpful information. Hopefully they will soon relax their standards for future visa-seekers

I think that people from all of the countries that now need a visa to visit Brazil will be dealing with the same company that has been contracted by the Brazilian government. When we applied for the first visa on their day 1 of implementing the program, they were definitely still working on getting the kinks out.

Thanks for the update and good luck.

FYI, today the application and payment for the second visa went much more quickly.  They have given no timeline for processing the visa.

Glad it went better for the second one. We are in the US, not Canada, but hopefully it will be basically the same. Do you have any tips?

It’s a wonderful cruise. We did this in reverse in March of this year and were blessed with beautiful weather and calm seas all the way. The guest lecturers were all really interesting and we loved the sea days.  We were on the Jupiter. Which ship are you on?

We are doing the direction you did when the Jupiter returns to the Mediterranean after our South America & Chilean Fjords cruise.

What kind of mobility scooters did you see?

According to the FAQ, motorized scooters are not allowed on board. If you plan on bringing one without asking Viking, you run the risk that you will be denied boarding (an expensive mistake). Just because people have seen them on previous sailings doesn't mean that they will necessarily be permitted in the future.

Note that the FAQ specifically mentions motorized scooters but makes no mention of other wheeled mobility devices other than wheel chairs.

Another thing to note if you are bringing a wheeled device is that access to Deck3 cabins that are aft of The Atrium can only be accessed via a ramp. Not so bad going up but going down could be a challenge. Deck 3 forward of the Atrium, the ramp can be avoided.

    FROM THE FAQs:

What are your wheelchair accommodations? Do the ships have elevators?

Guests who have a disability, physical or otherwise, must travel with an able-bodied companion who can assist them as the staff is not permitted to lift guests or push wheelchairs. Guests need to provide their own wheelchairs, except in an emergency. Wheelchairs must not exceed 22" in width. For details regarding bringing a wheelchair on board, guests must complete the Accessibility Form and return to Viking no later than 30 days prior to departure. Motorized scooters are not typically suitable for international cruises and cannot be accommodated. While our ocean vessels have elevators, there may still be thresholds that could make movement difficult.Contact a Viking Expert at 1-855-884-5464 (1-855-8-VIKING) directly with additional questions and to obtain a copy of our Accessibility Form and policy statement.
