  1. LOL no Flames here , I dont disagree , We went a few years back found it hot LONG and tiring , I dont have the best health and you are right bathroom breaks were at a minimum so I never drank anything till the end of the tour. Now it was an ok tour, I agree with you on the beach as well must have been the same one.

We just came back from St Lucia and went on our own this time to Pigeon Island National Park , much nicer beach and we enjoyed our day a LOT more.

Hi Steve, We would like to go back to this island to get a different point of view, thanks for the heads up about Pigeon Island National Park, I will definitely look into it next time.

I'm know many people enjoy Cosol, it was just too much bus time, driving around ALL day was just not for us.

    Cheers, Carole

  2. We were also on the Miracle - and took Cosol's tour. We had Cosol himself as our driver. I have to tell you, this was actually our second tour with Cosol. We did the tour when we were on the Victory in 2010, and were so pleased, we wanted to do it again. There are plenty of stops - with people trying to sell things - but all you have to do is say NO, and they leave you alone. We found this to be true for all of the islands we visited. Cosol makes plenty of stops for "scenic" pictures, and is always in touch with all of his drivers. He is very proud of his island, and makes a special effort to make sure his passengers are comfortable, and have a great time. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain when we got to the volcano, so we decided not to go through. A great time was had by all in our van.:)

Hi Sue!!!! Glad you guys enjoyed the tour, it may simply have been the driver of the van. We just didn't feel the tour like so many have. It was pouring a LOT which probably didn't help, but we were not thrilled with something they have no control over, the up and down and around of the roads. Our driver was not very personable either, he didn't really mention where to get the drinks and to watch out for the aggressive vendors, it was hard to tell who was involved in the tour and who was just out to make a buck.

All in all we enjoyed Bernard in St Martin and Thenford Gray much more.

Maybe would have had a different point of view if we had Cosol!!

  3. Alright, I have my anti flame suit on so I'm going to give a different point of view.

We were on Miracle this last week and did Cosol tour and HATED it!!! The water, soda and for those who drank rum punch and beers were plentiful, I didn't drink but might have enjoyed the tour except for a few things.

The first place we stopped was for bananas, people were giving out sugar cane and other things, if you took anything they wanted tipped, so ok we tipped no biggie, but then............. our first of VERY LIMITED bathroom stops, charged a dollar to use the rest room. So many people with their hands out this tour, we felt nickled and dimed to death.

The island is beautiful but the tour is by bus and they drive very fast on up and down ground, felt sorta like a roller coaster ride. Trying to get pictures as they sped by was very hard, and often frustrating.

We got off the bus and onto a dive boat to the beach, we were allowed on the crappy side of the beach, the nice side was for the hotel guests, it was rocky, and those without water shoes suffered. Also it rained the whole time, which is not their fault, but they dropped us off at a beach with little shelter in the rain, came back an hour later to get us.

When asked if someone could just stay on the bus instead of go to the beach, the answer was no.

Perhaps we got a new driver? I cannot even remember the name of our driver, but it was not Cosol, and not anyone who's picture has been posted here.

I guess we were lucky in the long run, I heard that someone else on our ship was on the same tour in a different bus and it was so roller coaster like that there was people throwing up :(

Anyway I'm usually all about the private tours, had a WONDERFUL time with both Bernard in St Martin and Thenford Gray was outstanding, but I really did not enjoy Cosol, and most of our group felt the same.

    Different strokes...

    Cheers, Carole

  4. Our roll call did the Okey Dokey A1 tour in January of this year. This was a fantastic tour and we had a great time. We had Carlos as our guide and had a large bus with air conditioning to hold all 18 of us very comfortably. He provided free drinks on the bus.

We got to see and hold a sloth, went to a fruit stand with short walk through the forest to see different native plants, got to see monkeys up in the trees, took a short boat ride on the Tortuguero canal and saw lots of wildlife, went to a banana plantation, went to a small restaurant on the beach and got a lunch of chicken and beans and rice, made a couple stops at scenic overlooks for pictures, and then made a short shopping stop in town before going back to the ship.

We did get the CC discount for our tour as well.

For those of you who had a different driver than Charlie and didn't get what you were originally quoted (like no free lunch), you need to email Charlie with the name of the guide and let him know. He told us to do that if we were not happy with our tour and if we didn't get what we were quoted.

We also did the Okey Dokey Tour and Carlos was our guide, it was the best tour I have ever done, we started with Zip Lines at Jungle Breeze then on to all the other things, snacks were on us at a snack shop, but we got the fruit and drinks. Visited the jungle, held the sloth, did the boat tour, stopped for coffee, btw if anyone gets to a store in Costa Rica, the Oro coffee is fabulous, I packed up my suitcase with it, Customs was fine with it too.

We too were with Celebrity on that one, and it was about 3 years ago.

Hope this was just an anomaly, as we want to visit again!!!

    Cheers, Carole

  5. We've never booked a suite, because we really don't need all the perks, and frankly I'd rather spend my money on shopping.

But when we were on Celebrity, we love, love, loved the concierge class because of the full breakfast on the balcony. We utilized it every morning!!!

Also the Cova cafe was a nice treat on sea days, with the wonderful almond or chocolate Crossiants being free!!! But it sure did tempt us to buy the cappacino!!!

    Lovely!! Cheers, Carole

  6. I would agree with you, but she's 17 and has been extremely picky ever since she's been off baby food. She won't eat off the appetizer or dessert menus, either, but she will be having a lot of that 24 hour pizza (no ice cream, though). She really enjoys the dining room experience so I'm glad she'll still be able to get something she likes for dinner.

No melting chocolate cake for her? OMG that poor child!!! LOL jk, I'm glad she can find something that agrees with her tastes!!! They do have good pizza!!

    Carole

  7. Nice that they have doggie bags.

lol my hubby is the biggest meat eater, he might not eat much of anything else on the nights he finishes the Porterhouse, but he has, indeed finished it several times.

Myself? I'll eat steak at home (live in nebraska, it's a no brainer) I'm having lobster or those delicious lamb chops, but I mostly get full on the lobster bisque (is a meal unto itself) yumm, and those wasabi golden mashed, omg to die for...........now I'm hungry!!!!

  8. I believe they have a kids menu with all the kinds of food kids love. I agree the cut of steak in dining room is not the most tender steak in the world, but with all the other options why order steak?

My husband does make it a point every cruise to try and finish off the 24 oz porterhouse served in the supper club, he loves it!!!

    Have a great cruise, Carole

  9. I'm with MomofZeke, love all those authors.

Stephanie Plum stuff rocks!!! Just got Plum Spooky but I'm gonna try to save it for my cruise in Feb, those are fun, easy read for cruising!!!

Also loved the Sweet Potato Queens, that was great.

But I'm all about the mystery stuff deep down, Cornwall, Patterson, Harris, Koontz

Bought "Dreams of my Father" and am going to try to read that one too in Feb. I'm NOT about biographies but I really want to get to know a little about our new President

My fav is just sitting on the balcony early in the morning reading and drinking coffee, sound of the ocean lapping the ship............ priceless when it's 5 below zero out, like here, now ugh.........

  10. Hi all, we were at playa uvas in September 2006, the staff were awesome, however I think the post wilma snorkling isn't very colorful or pretty, there were TONS of rocks on the ocean bottom that made walking very uncomfortable. But the group of people working there are amazing. We got open bar, snorkling and lunch for 39.00 each with an internet reservation. Very reasonable!! We were not disappointed at all, but if your looking for amazing reefs and such you won't find it here. But is there anywhere in Coz that has fully recovered? Takes years I would think for nature to replace what is lost.
