  1. I got my refund earlier this week.

I booked through a high st TA, (3 letters), when you call them they say that I should receive an Email from them. No Email was ever received. When you speak to them, they say you must request a refund via a link on the P&O site, which I did (no email confirmation is sent). When you call P&O their telephony system says, if you booked through a TA you must call the TA and cut you off! - what a shambles. Anyway I eventually got a cheque in the post from Carnival - yay. Took it straight down the bank and banked it.

  2. Following on from my last post, which is now closed and locked and cant be updated:

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2749881-is-ventura-sailing-on-june-1st/

I contacted P&O and their automated telephony system said, if I had booked through high street TA I must contact the TA.

So, I did, it took over 100 attempts to get through (1 per minute for over 90mins)

I was on hold for 1h40mins then I finally spoke to a human.

She said that I should have already received an email form the TA (who's name I cannot type here) - I haven't

Also  that a cruise credit has automatically been applied to my account - Iv'e logged in to the P&O site and cant find a CC anywhere.

I was also told to complete the form at this address for a refund:

    https://www.pocruises.com/request

Iv'e done that, but I haven't received an email confirmation? Is that correct?

In fact, had I not been pr-active, I would not have heard from either of these companies.

  3. Schedule to go to guernsey, portugal & spain for 6 nights starting June 1, my first cruise.

Am I right in thinking that this is not going ahead?

I booked through a high street travel again, I cant say the name or the post will get pulled, (3 letters in name)

I havent heard a thing from the TA.

If I phone them, they say lines are busy and hang up.

The P&O site says all cruises up to an including Jul 31 are not sailing

  4. I have a cruise booked in June 1st on Ventura. I havent heard a thing from P&O at all. I've not received the email everyone is on about. It looks like there wont be any ports to stop in anyway. I booked through a TA (tui), do I cancel via them, or via P&O? Also it looks like i can cancel (under 70) rather than postpone because my wife has early onset Alzheimers which I think qualifies as a chronic neurological  disease. Paid on  credit  card aswell for extra cover.

  5. The formal night on my upcoming 7 night cruise on ventura is the thing I am looking forward to the least. I dont have suitable wear for an event such as this, dont want to buy a tux and dont want to pack a suit and tie for a few hours of wear. Although I'll probably have to as my wife will probably want to go. In fact I would go as far to say that the whole idea of such a formal event puts me off cruising. I very much expect this cruise to be my first and last, tbh. But watch this space, I may be surprised, but I doubt it.

  6. Ah, so I have now re-looked  at this and I must congratulate P&O on the user journey on their website (I'm being sarcastic here 🤨)

So, on the homepage there is a link at the top called "login" further along, to the right, there is another link called "My Details" and on the far right there is another link called "Already Booked?"

If I login via the "login" link, I get - ??? - I don't know, maybe thats a way to book a cruise, but its not obvious

If I login via the "My Details" link, I get - some details of me, and a tab called "My Cruises" that requests a URN. This area is also known as "My Account"

If I login via the "Already Booked?" link, I have to enter a booking ref, firstname, surname and DoB and lo-and-behold, there is my cruise information. This is the "Booking Summary" page.

I've not yet found the "Cruise Personaliser" page. Life too short to go looking for it.

    @jeanlyonThanks for the pointers.

  7. Is their website really as bad as it looks?

Using Chrome, I go to My Account and enter email address & password and it reports: "Missing required parameter

Using Edge (like, who the hell uses edge) and it works fine.

Yet (with edge) if I select "keep me logged in" it doesnt keep me logged in.

Then when I click on "My Cruises" it reports: We are unable to show you any cruise information at this time..This might be because you have not yet entered a valid URN (unique reference number).

Now, it would be a good idea if it told you where you could enter such a number, but we have to work that out for ourselves.

Now, IIRC, this worked once upon a time, when I booked and ISTR that could see my cruise itinerary. But now, no longer.

What an utter piece of ....

  8. My first cruise coming up in June.

I did a bit of research but there is so much information out there, its difficult  to know what's relevant and what to ignore.

I booked it through a travel agent rather than direct, dont know if that relevant,  but I thought I'd mention  it.

Other than that I have totally no clue about what goes on, what to avoid, what to do, what I have to pay for, what I dont have to pay for. How much stuff  costs. Tipping, etc. I understand there is a night where, if you want to go, you have to dress up to the nines. Not my idea of a fun TBH. But her ladyship will probably want to go, so I'll have  to pack a suit for a few hours of wear.

Anything I should be aware of,  in general i mean.
