  1. I can’t remember where I read it and don’t have a source (sorry) but I did read that a lot of ships would be moved from the med to Alaska for the summer. Maybe that was a preemptive statement (it was a few days ago, before the new cases/death in WA and CA). But if more ships in Alaska, prices for the season may start cratering.

  2. I prefer the thermal suite (and you can buy the pass online without having to rush).

Sundecks are too hot for me, and I don’t drink.

Downsides or thermal suite: no bar, and if you’re sensitive to smells the chlorine (or similar chemical) smell in the spa can be strong at times.

Thermal suite does have water, tea, fruit, etc. IIRC, the GA does have one of the nicer locker rooms with showers and changing rooms, but you need to bring your own washcloth or loofah.

Presser by Trump this afternoon said that  there are travel advisory to italy. And  all those coming from italy will need a  to be checked before  coming into US.

UConn ,my local private college are  cancelling the student programs in Rome. In the local case they are shutting down the  school they own in rome for  the rest of the school year. The students are coming home.

Reuter just reported that Italy now has 1,000 case of virus. Nien days ago they had handfull  confirmed.

Italy is also *testing* far more people than many other countries, including the US. Same with S. Korea.

We are leaving on a cruise on the Norwegian Joy in about 30 days. We have younger cruisers with us and are wondering what the hook ups on the TV are. Wondering if we can bring a portable DVD player or gaming system and it would work on this cruise ships TV in the stateroom. Anyone know? Or anyone going on the Joy soon that could check it out. From what I have seen on the boards is that on different ships the input ports on the TV are deactivated. Wondering if it’s the same for the Joy.

On every NCL ship I’ve been on, it’s been possible to unplug the ship services HDMI line and use that, or switch to another port using buttons on the TV or a universal remote (I bring a small one). Sometimes it’s been a little fiddly but it has been possible for me on GA, BA, Escape and Bliss. (IIRC Bliss has Samsung screens, at least in studios, so the universal remote trick works.)

  5. Haven Breakaway last year, one of those giant aft suites. Never saw a butler. Maybe they didn’t want to hoof it all the way back to us.

The ship had also recently failed a CDC inspection and was generally grubby.

Between all that and realizing that a lot of the food in the hallowed Haven restaurant was stuff you could get elsewhere on the ship, just plated or constructed differently, I pretty much realized the emperor had no clothes.

Thanks.  My wife works at a NYC hospital. She forgot to tell me.  The Dr she works for wanted to cancel his business trip to California due to the incident but decided to go.

Very respectfully, COVID19 has been present in the US and Canada for weeks. Many cases have already resolved and gone home. On the flip side, we’ve also tested a pathetically small number of people (compared to countries like, for example, South Korea), because our government is a bit of a dumpster fire right now.

I just called and they said that they could push it out well over a year. I'm assuming they made some changes though due to the situation. Before they told me that I was unable to push out within the 45 day window but I called today and I was able to push it out until over a year. Still haven't pushed it out though.

Oh, okay. I thought they were proactively offering/recommending it to you, or maybe you were coming from an affected area.

I'm in 'wait and see' mode for next month. I don't see a real reason to cancel on my own and take the financial hit, and don't feel like listening to that one single song VV plays on hold. 🙂 If things become dire, my flights and the cruise will be canceled anyway.

Hard to believe that they are closing down schools, but will have the mass gathering that the Olympics would be.

I just cannot see swimmers wearing the protective masks; I mean how would they breathe?

The Olympics are literally FIVE MONTHS away.

Perhaps read my subsequent post which says I’ve never been in a cruise ship pool.

Unfortunately the world today is overrun with vloggers, bloggers, influencers et al. Some of who will sell their soul to ensure they keep in with companies for freebies, so forgive me if I’m suspicious.

Virgin Voyages is doing their marketing on Instagram, and are completely open about it.

Sometimes people do just have different opinions. It's okay. I have suspicions about why certain segments of the cruising customer base are so vocally angry about the existence of Virgin when there are twenty other cruise lines to pick from, but I don't go around accusing individual people of having less than stellar motives.

Downloaded it.  A little buggy still.  Could input all the travel info, but had trouble with inputting inbound and outbound flights.  No real functionality yet.

It only seems to admit that MIA exists. Since I'm flying into PBI and out of FLL, it's not interested yet.

I downloaded the app today, and in the check in process, the earliest available time was 2:00 pm... This leads me to believe that the debarkation process will be more "relaxed" than other cruise lines, who want you off the ship asap...

Yeah ... it’s going to be a long day for me on check in day. I hope we can at least get into our rooms and drop off luggage.
