  1. 2016 Sensation.  Husband and I were at a turning point in our lives. Kids gone and out of the house. Had been caring for grandparents that passed.  We had no idea what to do with each other and were so depressed. An elder at church advised us it was time to date each other again. Drove from Atlanta to Miami overnight (horrible idea) and boarded our first cruise to Key West and Cozumel. Booked the next one driving home! We want to try other lines, but right now Carnival checks all our boxes.

I'm supposed to sail on the Horizon in two weeks.  If we start packing now they'll cancel if we wait until last minute they won't. To pack or not to pack.

Same! I hate the consequences if they don't cancel though.  I work in higher ed and we will have to self quarantine. That will burn all of my sick time.

I am getting a lot of comments from friends and co workers starting they are surprised I'm still going. Some even give me a funny, if not rude looks.

    Anyone else getting off responses?

Understatement.  I have stopped discussing my travel plans.  Also, political views, religious views, social media views.  Tired of defending EVERY. SINGLE. THING.

    Soapbox done.

  4. Still planning on cruising.  I am not concerned with the virus (anyone remember some other viruses like influenza, HIV, RSV, Noro, Roto, Hepatitis, Ebola, etc. ???)  but understand that others are and I do not disagree nor would ever speak poorly of personal decisions to cancel.  I will be sad if we end up on a "cruise to nowhere" but I just don't see that happening with tourism being practically the entire base of the economy of so much of the Caribbean.

I do recognize that we could be carriers of the virus, but it's just me and the hubs, kids are grown and gone, no elderly around.  We drive to and from the port and know how to keep proper social distances.  We wash our hands.  We have enough sick time accrued if a faced with a quarantine and have a stocked home for "self-quarantine".  If quarantined on the ship, we have aft wrap.

The ove $3K discount i am getting on the cruise is worth the risk for me.

  5. I am cruising at the end of the month and booked just this past week.  For entertainment value (and to occupy a stale work afternoon) I went through mock bookings on my sailing.  At a minimum (since only 10 rooms are shown as available online) there are 178 open cabins on my cruise.  But with over 1900 cabins that's only ~10% that have cancelled.  I will be interested to see actual figures on current sailings.
