  1. On the flip side, my kids LOVED the kids club, they didn't want to leave!  They were 10 and 13 at the time. The also enjoyed the rock climbing wall, and actually won medals.  When we went, all the pools were closed due to rough seas. Major let down. But, they also enjoyed just hanging out in the cabin.  You know your kids, and if they'd get bored or not.  My son was happy reading books in different places on the ship, and playing cards and games in the card room.  Personally, I think parents worry too much about "entertaining" their children, thus enabling them to be creative.  I read this in the book, "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff' children/family.  It changed my attitude and have made trips more relaxed for me.  Why don't you ask your kids what they envision doing on the ship?  Perhaps you'll be pleasantly surprised.  Mine loved Rhapsody.

  2. Tough call...I like that NCL has the free at sea, however, I think they built this into their cruise fare.  Royal cruises tend to be less expensive from the ones I was looking at.  However we did get the drink package  on RCCL and that was about 75 dollars less than the whole cruise.  I also noticed that prices are low until the end of the year, and seem to go up as ships get back into the swing of things.

  3. My husband and I are considering doing a B2B Alaska cruise in May, opting for an Ov instead of a balcony.  How do B2Bs work?  I don't know if we can get the same room or not, just thinking this through.  The price of a balcony is so much more than an OV, so we thought, OK, we can do this cruise twice, instead of the balcony and have options for different, views, things to do etc.

  4. I would call Royal on that.  So many excursions are not able to accommodate such a young child.  Check out height and age restrictions on the excursions.  Read the fine print, many excursions ..for example this is for a dolphin excursion, "

    • Minimum height to participate in Dolphin Swim Adventure program is 48 inches. Those under the height requirement may perform Dolphin Encounter only; 1-to-3 years old are free.

I've already been on 2 and going on 5 more this year.

    Agreed, book and go!

Before cruising resumed we bought a catamaran and took it to the Bahamas. It was an adventure, but an expensive one. Told my husband that cruising was way cheaper and much much less work.

So, so much work!  What an adventure you must have had,  I am in a land locked lake in Colorado.

  6.   I have been on a diet, 1500 calories a day and it has been pretty easy for me to stick to, however, I have a cruise coming up in November, the day after Thanksgiving.

My question is how do you make good choices with all those amazing choices of food on the ship.  How do you keep the calorie count down?  I would really appreciate some tips from you!

  7. So I thought this would be "beauty" issue here.  I have been on a diet, 1500 calories a day and it has been pretty easy for me to stick to, however, I have a cruise coming up in November, the day after Thanksgiving.

Or, and here's a really crazy idea I know... You could just TAKE YOUR PASSPORT.

Not on a snorkel excursion.  Too many things that could go wrong.  If I really did run into trouble an embassy would be good with a copy, vs. nothing.

I'm a retired certified elementary teacher.  I'd be happy to go with you and even child-sit in the evenings if you cover all expenses.  😄

I am too!  I was thinking the same thing!  I'd go if my husband's and my expenses were paid...no salary, just pay our expenses!  What an experience it would be!  OH, the field trips!!

  10. Former smoker here, now I vape.  I wish they would allow vaping in rooms and balcony.  It does not leave a smell.  I don't do the "big clouds".   I cut down on my nicotine level from 24 to 4, next step is zero.  I actually hate the smell of smoke now, and chose to only vape in the outdoor areas, the casino is too smokey for me, so I only go to gamble for a little bit, or in more ventilated areas.  I think if I didn't vape, I would not enjoy going into the casino at all.
