I love Oasis class ships... But the sheer price now that we have a family of 3 is too much compared to lines that don't charge for kids/babies.

HOWEVER, I've just watched a video of Icon OTS and saw the menu for the milkshake bar. $16.50 for a milkshake, they cannot be serious??? ($14 plus 18%).

    Wow.

    $16.50 Seriously?!?!

    Never mind.

YES I get that you wanted to see a normal 7 night cruise. This wasn't perfect but we all had to make lemonade out of lemons. And yes it would be super cool if Princess still sailed Alaska in November. So true but seriously that's not my decision!!

So glad for the ones who stayed onboard and saw Ketchikan with DRINKS and OBC and made the best too - wish them a safe flight home!  Also to the other couple we met on the train who found fantastic alternatives too!

Geeze, Bee. Your family Seriously deserves to enjoy Alaska sights and scenery .  As do the other passengers.   Glad you are making lemonade out of lemons.  Enjoy the train trip!

Thanks so much! I'm so glad to be here. And yes the ship wasn't a bad deal after all for 3 nights in Seward with the drinks and OBC!! DH is looking at Turnagain Arm and a Glacier Cruise. Seriously have to try a reindeer sausage tomorrow!

I’ve seen more complaints from OP on here than overheard on the ship.

It’s so important to compare what they would say if it was suddenly Carnival. And yes many people are Loyal to Royal and Royal can do no wrong. There is such a huge difference in maintenance for various lines. Seriously, who broke down in Alaska??

FINALLY they're painting the ship after being here for weeks!! It is so weird like they knew it wasn't going to sail Friday! And yes our tour driver today thinks the mechanics STILL need fixed!!

Of course there is uncertainty, we have cruised enough to have missed ports, had itineraries changed last minute and have had to cancel outright more than once. It doesn’t change the fact that the OP is disappointed and wants off the ship.

I heard that Alaska was magical and we're going do this the best ways we can starting tomorrow! And YES next year we'll pick a different trip - I get it though everyone wants to stay and drink hard because adulting sucks.

I was SO hesitant because of Royal's reviews but in hindsight, I'd rather skip and see as much as possible because the coach down here it was just . . .wow.

You're still on a cruise. 50% OBC and free drinks...We would take it without hesitancy. If you fly back, you will have to do it on your own dime. And they have been very firm about no additional compensation.

YES but spending it in Anchorage will be an amazing experience and value for money to get here + see nature, HUGE!! And yes it is only 240,000 Hilton Hotel points. Honestly being onboard hasn't been such a great experience - we just want off tomorrow.

@Beeline Cruiser OMG! You are finally on a ship again. Looking forward to your food reviews. They’ll be the same as before, but hopefully the pictures will actually be yours.

I love cruising - but this is already not a great vacation. First MDR was not my FAVORITE but the servers were good. Photos coming but food isn't an excuse for all the other problems. And yeah seriously no one has rose colored glasses on anymore!!

Love DVC.  I'm fond of the Poly quiet pool myself.  Not so much the Boardwalk main pool, although I LOVE the location of the Boardwalk Villas

Right?! We thoroughly enjoyed the Boardwalk Villas last Fall!! You just have to get over the clown pool and the rest is awesome! Loved our balcony and the location was amazing. We were just steps from the lobby elevator! Most Boardwalk Studios have very small balconies so that's why I was so shocked! But it's still an AMAZING resort.

Who was it that said if they don't get 10's they don't get their full share of gratuities?  One person in this whole thread, but we are somehow latching onto it as gospel?

Seriously, I tip in restaurants because servers ONLY get $2.13 per hour!!  If you can get over the fact that some people already tip BIG, and yes they are paid by Royal, and these ships have it all! (I still prefer the pools at DVC but seriously they are PAID to be on a floating resort)
