The Pinault family's pockets are quite deep. I would doubt Ponant is in any financial trouble. Too many staff members quarantining because of being postive to covid or being in contact with a positive person are a more likely cause of the cancellation.

@MrRandal that's good news. would love updates such as number of passengers and how the excursions go.

They have another charter with Norwegian next week. They have been in business for over 30 years now with multiple charters a year. If someone is looking for a ship that Atlantis hasn't chartered then that will greatly limit their choice.

No, we are on February 16 Le Commandant Charcot Ross Sea.
Wow that looks like an amazing itinerary. Hope thing improve by then. Would love to see pictures of that trip if you wouldn't mind sharing with us during your trip.

I saw the January 14th austral cruise was cancelled. Hope this wasn’t the cruise u were planning on taking.

@AussieBoyTx
My I ask where you got the info about which ship is under covid protocol?
-
Thank you for the detailed review and all the pictures.
Do you if additional passengers/crew members tested positive after the initial 3 positive results?
Hope you were not too bummed about missing the excursions that day. The rest of the trip looked phenomenal.

Have u contacted Ponant to make sure it’s not a mistake? Would seem unusual to require yellow fever vaccination for a country that does not require it. Maybe they used the wrong template or something.

Just about your experience and whether travel restrictions or health protocols affected the trip. If you would recommend it or not.

Anybody cruised to Seychelles with Ponant since cruising resumed last month?
-
Sorry I thought you meant Ponant as the company not the specific ship.

I have not. I am scheduled for a cruise in Iceland in August. But not sure if it will happen now.

I don't believe any more cancellations should be coming, at least in regards to Le Jacques Cartier. She's still in Iceland in August through early September, then back to Europe on these new itineraries that were just published.
The new announced Brittany cruises with Le Jacques Cartier start in July at the same time Iceland cruises were previously planned. I saw that Ponant is waiting for final approval from authorities for France itineraries. I assume they will wait for that approval to cancel Iceland cruises. And try to operate Iceland cruises if they do not get approval. But I also suspect ponant has strong reason to believe they will get approval to start advertising 5 new itineraries

But what if the french speaking half is the crew and English speaking half is the passengers 😉

What does shakedown passenger mean?
-
When do you think new cancellations will be announced based on the new France only itineraries just released?
-
I’m assuming this means more cancellations are coming. For example Le Jacques Cartier was scheduled to be in Iceland July and August. But now according to this is in the Brittany at the time. Seems unusual that you can buy a trip on the same boat at the same time in two different countries.
