  1. You can change ships and sail dates with no penalty?! I did that many years ago and it was something like a $50 change fee. Is that waived now? If so, I may just pick a whole new sail date then.
  2. No need for a sad face. With all the technology today, it's hardly a hindrance. 🙂 🙂
  3. If only it were that easy lol but I wouldn't be able to hear her on the other end of the line so it has to be email. 💻
  4. I have an update for anyone interested...A PVP contacted me today and said she could move me to aft of the ship for same price but all the cabins available were connecting ones which I don't like. So it really wouldn't be worth it to move if that's all i'd get. I did see an L shaped cabin available down on the Upper floor all the way aft, and sent her an e mail inquiring what penalties i'd pay if I wanted to move there and am awaiting her replay on that. It's been a couple of hours now so I guess the answer is not good lol. If I booked that L cabin now (6473) on the Carnival website it costs $200 more than my current price, so i'm wondering if it's worth paying $200 for a location i'd prefer, or just stay in the Grand Central Station mid ship area this time and chalk it up as a learning experience and never book mid ship near the elevators again! The more I think about it, the more I may just pay the $200---it has that long balcony as well as the quiet area so I personally feel it could be worth $50/day for it.
  5. I did wonder if it was an Early Saver or even a Casino rate that I booked and I checked all up and down the reservation and can find absolutely nothing referring to it being any special promo rate and my previous sailings have always has the special codes on it in reference to if it were some kind of promo or special sale. So...as far as I know, it's not any kind of special rate that would need to be cancelled and rebooked. I could be wrong though and it's in their system and not on the reservation. I guess $559 total for a solo balcony would have to be some kind of special sale because that can't be the regular price. But even so, all I want to do is move the cabin down the hall where it's quieter and not go up or down another category. Speaking of sales---They do have good ones going on at the moment and I just booked December 2024 on the Glory 4 day solo in an Ocean Suite which I always wanted to try!! It's $1,300 total that includes $100 in OBC so it basically equals $300/day which probably isn't such a great sale lol, but I always wanted to try a whole suite to myself. 🙂
  6. The last few replies backs up what I originally believed...that it was a simple act of just changing the cabin number as long as it was in the same category, and if it was a different category there'd be a charge for the new category cabin switched to. Thanks to all who shared their experiences with this. Now I know I actually don't have to cancel my whole booking and rebook at the current price just to make a cabin change. I have to wonder if this was a sneaky way of Carnival to get me to pay the current price and delete the great deal I already have lol. $559 total for a 4 day solo Verandah Balcony is a pretty sweet deal and I don't want to give that price up! So i'll wait and see if a PVP ever contacts me and find out what I my options are, but if I have to stay in that heavily trafficked Frogger mid ship area, i'll deal with it.
  7. He sounds perfect I want him lol. (I know sharing PVP's is not allowed here though so I won't ask for his info) I'll wait a few days and see if anyone contacts me from the form. Hopefully i'll be able to get a PVP who can accommodate my disability and is able to correspond solely through email or text message.
  8. I really think I just got a very inexperienced rep on the line. I was on with her for over 40 minutes because when I asked her about an aft cabin that was available and merely requested what the price/change penalty would be to move there, before even letting me know she apparently moved me to it within seconds and cancelled my original booking! So she had to get her "coach" to get my reservation back the way it was and it took almost an hour for her to do all that. I was of course livid because I was simply inquiring what the price would be to switch and within seconds I see an e mail pop up from Cabin Confirmations with my new booking and that I was already moved---and for a $300 price increase. My heart nearly stopped lol. I told her before hanging up that she really should give the price first to the caller before going ahead and making such changes and she was all "I apologize sir, is there anything else I can help you with?" lol....very formal and cold imo. So hopefully a PVP will be a little more human than that one haha.
  9. I messaged Carnival on their FB page for a PVP and they messaged me back a link that takes you to the form to fill out. I too searched on their website for the form request and couldn't find it but I do remember seeing it last year when I was booking my sailing, so they must have taken it away. BTW how long did it take to get the PVP after filling out the form? I sent it out last night so I figure it may take a few days? Here's the link if anyone's interested https://www.carnival.com/personal-vacation-planners/request-form
  10. Thanks. I will contact Carnival and ask them for one.
  11. They had some Piggy game on the Liberty last week that I tried. I think it was called Piggy Bank? I just remember there was a giant pig on top of the machine. It sucked my $20 in 3 or 4 spins and that was the end of that lol. I found the Planet Moolah machine at Baha Mar and won about 30 bucks off that. It may be old, but I like it and wish Carnival had it. I play it whenever I head over to the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. It seems to always give me decent wins.
  12. It's so much easier for me to just shoot for three 7's or Double/Triple Diamonds. When I see 20 different things dropping down on the big video screens with nothing matching I just sit there in confusion lol. I do like this one slot called Planet Moolah. It's one of the lesser complicated computer/video reels and I think is good for those intimidated by the huge slots that tower over you. Whenever I come across one I sit and play.
  13. Unknown to me too. I really thought they just said "Sure! No problem!" and typed in a new cabin number for you and charged an X amount change fee for making the room change. Easy peasy all done lol. At least now I know, and for future bookings i'll make sure to choose a location I wouldn't want to be changing if it means cancelling and rebooking. Unless it's a really great deal, it's not worth all that hassle.
  14. I've got a bunch of wild ducks that waddle up from the pond to my back patio every morning for food so I worry about them too when I go away. They're wild but they think they're my pets lol. With the prices of eggs these days it must be great to have a few chickens around!
  15. Thanks. I kept watch for upgrades for the sailing I got off last week, but none came. I had balcony so I wonder if the upgrades mainly go out for for inside to ocean view bookings and ocean view to balconies? I would think with a balcony booked, there's no where else to go but suites which are few to be had. I'll keep watch for any offers, but it won't kill me to be mid ship again---I just have to be mindful to poke my head out first and look both ways before exiting the cabin to avoid collision haha. But for future sailings i'm booking far aft where it's usually nice and deserted.
  16. Oh! I had no idea they had to cancel the original booking first. I thought they simply type in a new cabin number as long as it was the same category. Now I understand the giant price jump. Understood. Thanks for clearing it up for me. My rate is only $559 for this solo balcony cabin and I sure as heck don't want to lose that, so i'll just stay put for this one and know to book aft for all my further sailings. It's like Frogger trying to cross out to the hallways in those high traffic areas lol. 🐸
  17. As I mentioned in my review thread I had a midship cabin on my latest sailing that was in a very busy location. Deck 6 FWD by elevators. I thought it would be a convenient place to be, and it sure was judging by all the traffic in the hallways, but I prefer a more quiet area as i've had in the past in back of the ship. So I decided to call Carnival today to inquire about changing to a cabin more to the AFT of the ship. Same balcony level, just further back is all I wanted. She told me it would be a new rate to change the location and the new rate was going to be over $300 more than I originally paid. After getting my heart pumping again from the shock, I told her not to make any changes because I really thought it would only cost something like $50 bucks change fee if anything. She mentioned how she had to refer to her "coach" for a moment, so perhaps I just got an inexperienced trainee on the line? I always thought you can move your cabin somewhere else for minimal penalty as long as it was in the same level category? Should I call another time and get someone more experienced?
  18. This was my 8th sailing and it's the first time it's happened to me and I suspect it has a lot to do with adding that 5th digit to the passenger's Folio number. But what I was saying was in regard to all the people who never even noticed the possible extra charges buried among all their actual charges. How many of them would say "Things happen?" Whether it happens to 2% or 20% of the passengers or whatever percentage, it is not good imo and the goal by Carnival should be 0%, and I sincerely hope they get active and do something about it. Until then, I will watch that S&S account like a hawk.
  19. Understood. I drink myself, but I personally agree with the 15 limit especially after the recent publicized incidents of extreme rowdy behavior that was most likely alcohol induced. Sometimes even adults need to have limitations imo.
  20. The good thing about these experiences is that it does make you more watchful of your account so in that aspect, i'm glad it happened because now I know to be on high alert regarding my charges. And it's very handy to with the app to keep an eye on things. Not saying I don't trust Carnival, but it just seems there's a lot of room for human error the way the current S&S method is. Hopefully they can come up with a better way to charge us with less chance for errors or overcharges.
  21. Oh God no lol. Part of the joy is getting away from him for a few days. I don't know if there are other bird parents here, but they're a lot of work and attention and I can't stress enough what a joy it is to not have the responsibility for a few days. As much as I love him, if he were with me on vacation it wouldn't be much of a vacation. 😄
  22. Thanks. His recent checkup the vet said he's in perfect health so he's winning for now. Maybe if I line his cage with 14 day European sailings he'll get the hint haha.
  23. Thanks. My big dream is to do one of those long 14 day European sailings, but I couldn't leave the pet for that long so I just hope I outlive him long enough to do it haha. His breed can live up to 35 years and he's only 18 and i'm 53 so it's a race against time lol.
  24. I booked for a few reasons. One, is that I booked it over a year ago and back at the time I was hesitant about doing longer for fear of the big C. I don't know---I guess my logic back then was it couldn't get me on a really short sailing haha. Also, the deal they gave me was too good to pass up---I only paid like $400 for the balcony that included $200 in OBC! How can I say no to that? (I spent all that OBC before I even got on the ship on really slow 1995 speed WIFI lol, (omg it was so slow I went grey just waiting for pages to load---but it did work and allowed me to use my app which needs connection, so worth it imo) I also got a Bon Voyage cake that was so filling I couldn't eat any more after one slice so it rotted in the fridge for the rest of the cruise, a medium finger sandwich tray that I found really handy on the second night when it was hard to find food on the ship....and 2 4pks of Bud Light that cost a whopping $26 each---it's a huge ripoff, but I like my beer on the balcony in the evenings. And for that price, you can bet I made sure to drink them all!! I'm glad I tried the 3 day though because now I know what it's like and that it's not for me. I have no complaints about it in general, only that it was too short. That one extra day on a 4 day really makes a world of difference for me. And I like to visit more than 1 island. But for those who work and only have the weekend time to do it, it's a perfect option.
