A two for one offer on Cunard ships 🙂

You are on Mary and Elizabeth ahead?

This is quite a sneaky one because my thinking was immediately Liverpool, crane colours fit, two Cunard ships together would fit for 2015, but then I realised you are on the reconfigured upper part of Mary. So with the headland on the port side ruling out Liverpool or other candidate Lisbon I will say Halifax NS.

  2. The rear port side portion of Kings Court is reserved for these dining options. Tables are set with linen tablecloths, place settings and waiter and sommelier service is included. It is not self service. The thoroughfare from D stairway is closed so there is no through traffic making the experience very pleasant.

There is usually a published rota which lets you know in advance which night is the Mediterranean theme etc., I believe the restaurants operate every night of the voyage.

On the Canaries QV voyage the CWC party for Gold level and above took place in the Queens Room, and there was also the Senior Officers Party for Platinum and above on a different day. The general captain's welcome party for all passengers did not take place. The majority of passengers are gold level or above since once only a few voyages have been enjoyed on Cunard you reach Gold pretty quickly.

The muster drill seems to have become established as it was last year, with the requirement to go and have your cruise card scanned in by crew members at your muster station soon after boarding, and the muster drill video is already playing in your room when you go in, which you are required to watch, and that seems now to be in place of the full muster drill that used to take place with everyone physically present at the nominated time at your muster station, Anyone who does not know how to use the life jackets, can go to their muster station, where a crew member will show you how to put it on and remove it.  In addition the usual emergency horn practice sounding  and Captain's announcement over the PA system still takes place as always.

Have they continued the practice of providing a welcome aboard note from the captain and a complimentary glass of wine at dinner in lieu of the welcome aboard party?

Have to agree with you. To be honest I was delighted that it was pushed back a little later in the year , the thought of cruising early January and almost immediately after we had just gotten over the Christmas & New Year Celebrations,  I think I'd have had to give my liver a little rest  🍾🍸

Hadn’t thought of it this way, but I’ll drink to that! 😀

Same here, then took the new maiden preference when it all went pear shaped.

Simple when you have the UK's top Cunard Agent looking after you.

Action not words has always been my driver. There's no substitute for it. Talk is cheap.😂

Although I was content with the original date, perhaps the push back to May is advantageous in respect of longer daylight hours and realistic opportunities to sample the outdoor facilities and spaces. 🙂

News outlets are forever doing similar. Reporting on bus/train incidents and showing a photo of a different type of vehicle and a often a different operator that wasn't involved.

On a similar vein; one of my favourites, and admittedly it is fiction so they can twist reality to their storyline; is from the US crime drama "Ransom", episode "Girl on a Train". Actors seemingly board a train at Menton and travel directly to Entrevaux. To do so would require major conversion works on the train and a crane to lift it the 500 metres between the two different networks.

I think I have the direction correct, but it's possible they went the other way. I wasn't watching but my ears pricked up when I realised what they claimed was happening.

Well I was quite flattered in a way when Daily Mail used one of my photos of the Queens Room on Queen Mary 2 to illustrate their story. They had the correct cruise line and ship just a pity it was negative story about the ship breaking down

Yes you can walk thru Deck 7 inside thru the passage way by Chef's Gallery on the starboard side

You can’t go from the Chef’s Gallery to the D stairway though without going outside or cutting through the port side of Kings Court which hosts the speciality restaurant in the evening. The way through the rear of the Kings Court is barred while the speciality restaurant is operating.

Perhaps I’ve misunderstood the question though.

  8. As a guide until someone can provide a Princess Grill menu, here is the breakfast menu card for Queens Grill. I don’t know if the offerings are different in Princess Grill.

For reference I scanned this in July 2022 on Queen Mary 2.

Thanks for that report. The ship at Brooklyn that day was Caribbean Princess according to a thread about that voyage I found on this forum. It looks like Prinsendam was also in Manhattan that day.

Excellent, thank you for the detail on the ship in Brooklyn.

I caught Prinsendam departing and Silver Whisper was alongside too.

  10. If the driver doesn’t ask, let them know you are taking the train to London, so they drop you at the most convenient side of the station. That way it is a short walk over flat ground onto the platform.

Under usual circumstances two hours will be sufficient from walking off the ship to arriving at the station.

Congratulations @Yaldi!  I had made no progress at all at identifying the first webcam photo.

Yes, the second photograph was necessary. I remembered the red sheds from my visit there, a number of years ago which set me on the right track.

Here's another view from a different webcam that day at the same port as my previous post. No Cunard ship in this view but plenty of port facilities and other structures to work with here.

Thanks @Yaldi.  Well done.  My only consolation is that Santander isn't a place I've been to, nor was I the contributor or identifier of the original port photo in our game.  (That would have been very embarassing!)

Saw there's a YouTube record of the visit to Santander from a guest sailing on this voyage. Had I discovered it earlier working it out would have been a lot easier. 🙂 See around 13:34 in this video.

I think I've seen a google image of every cargo and storage tank facility in the world -- except for this one. Unfortunately the wording on the orange striped tanks is tantalizingly indecipherable. No luck either with the previous coastal photo.  I admit defeat.   Hopefully someone else has recognised the locations?

Have a look at Santander, the bridge, striped shed and silos are all present. Quite a clever one as it was a maiden call for the ship recently.
