Make a copy of the side with the vaccine information, laminate the copy, carry in wallet. Place original vaccine card with your passport.

+1.  This is exactly what I plan to do once we get our second shots next week.  The card won't fit in my wallet, but should fit fine inside my passport book.  I'll keep the passport card and a copy of the vaccine card in my wallet.

  2. Do NOT miss the train ride from Skagway.  It's like a whole second vacation.  I also wouldn't miss Glacier bay.  There's a reason that they sell you a glacier shore excursion in Juneau before the "real" (included) glacier show in Glacier bay.  After seeing the second (twice), I'll never pay for the first one again.

The thing about the CDC is that they have no clue what it means to run a business nor do they care. If they could have everyone locked up in their basements for the next 24 months they would.

Unfortunately this is where "government" isn't doing the peoples interest. I'd say give them another 90 days to show real progress and if they're still sitting on their butts then bring on the lawsuits.

Sometimes the government forgets that the first 3 words of our Constitution are "WE THE PEOPLE" and not "WE THE GOVERNMENT".

Why wait 90 days?  We've made real progress already.  (according to the CDC website 🤣)

You might just check and see how many ships and what size ships will be in port the day you are returning your rental car in Port Canaveral. We had a rough experience a few years ago when there were four larger ships in port and the vehicle traffic congestion was really bad at the port going over the bridge, and the car rental shuttles could not get in and out of port very easily. There were a lot of people at the Avis rental car return waiting for the shuttle to return. We ended up calling an Uber to get to the port rather than wait for 2 or 3 shuttle cycles to go and return to pick us up. They may have improved the traffic flow or corrected this problem by now but just be aware of that. Maybe someone else who has done this more recently can provide more input on this.

I've used PC Avis for both arriving and departing cruises.  For departures, it's a non-issue, as we typically return the car around 10:00 am and have (literally) hours and hours to get shuttled the one remaining mile to the Cruise ship.   For arrivals, if the plane connection was a concern, I would just use the NCL transfer to the airport.

Covid is on the rise again in Florida and spiking again because of Spring Break in Miami.  Covid is rising again in other areas even though the vaccine is here.

    I'm not really seeing it.

That said, my concern is that the government paints too rosy a picture and it leads to fence sitters deciding to skip the vaccine.  I get my second Pfizer in two weeks and will just be glad to be done with it. 😎  Just about every pharmacy in my area is giving shots now and it's about as painless as going to the store to pick up some groceries.  I'm guessing that as a cruising forum, we probably as a group are much more receptive to the vaccines.  I'm on a sports forum that is the polar opposite.

I  do not see how everyone will be vaccinated by May. There are rural areas in this country that do not have drug stores near them. Some travel for hours to get to one. There are areas that are not easily accessed  to be able to give out the vaccine. They are currently working on a plan for these areas as well. Now with J&J out  and not needing a deep freeze to store the vaccine it may make it easier.  Although it is only good for 2 hours our of the refrig.

Hours to a drug store?  Yikes.

No, I read it. I didn't miss anything.

I didn't say the rate wouldn't increase, but there's no way the day any shipment of vaccine arrives that it magically ends up being injected into arms. The logistics of distributing the vaccine to vaccination sites and administering it  are enormous. There's going to be a lag of some sort.

You may have missed what I said: "perhaps into early September". "Perhaps" doesn't mean it will take that long. It means that it may take that long.

It's your claim of " I think May 30 was the goal for everybody who wanted a vaccination to get one" that I was objecting to because it simply can't and won't happen and no one in the government ever said it would.

Yeah.  I must have missed the "perhaps."  Perhaps we'll find out in two to six months.

    No.

Also no. There will be enough vaccine available  by the end of May to vaccinate every adult who wants to be vaccinated, but the actual process of vaccination will take longer...perhaps into early September.

You may have missed the part where the article stated that: "The chart below shows how things would play out if the U.S. continues to administer vaccines at the pace it has recently. However, this rate may change."

The current vaccination rate has been based entirely upon vaccine availability.  It is silly to assume that the rate wouldn't increase to match the availability of vaccine.

Your price is locked when you book and pay the deposit.  If it increases, you can be happy you booked early.  If it goes down before final payment, you can rebook at the lower price.  If it goes down after final payment, you can do a one-time renegotiation for obc or an upgrade.

I understand all of that, but my question was relative to the application of the 10% discount.  I have evidence that attempting to apply that discount after prices increase will only save money to the extent that new price minus 10% is less than original booked price.  Actual case.  Price of cabin for DW and I was same as at booking, so we saved a whole 10%.  DD's cabin had increased, so she saved some money but less than 10%.  Hopefully that makes sense.

All US adults supposedly will be vaccinated by May 1 according to the current administration...

I believe that all adults will be eligible for vaccination by May 1, not vaccinated.  I think May 30 was the goal for everybody who wanted a vaccination to get one.

My original "10% off" and cruisenexts are back in the account today.

I called NCL about the "10% thing" and the rep said it's 10% off the new cruise....no additional 10% FCC for money paid.

So, I'm back to where I was....all's good.  I don't have to downgrade "based on principle".

That's what happened with me.  It was 10% off the new cruise (which in my case was a more expensive cruise).

It’s too late 10% discount apply.

    New strategy for me:

New booking, don’t 10% discount applied now, wait 120/60 (final payment due dated) and decision discount applied.  I am dumb, new booking, 10% discount applied, cancel for NCL (October 2021), lost for 10% discount.  Yes, no sense.

What happens if the cost of the cruise increases before the final payment due date?

That is much easier than dealing with rental car counters at the airport and turning the car in at the port.

Please explain what this "dealing with rental car counters" is.  Isn't it a five minute exchange (I give them my credit card and license, they give me keys)?

Thanks for sharing what you heard - I believe you are saying the 10% discount (not FCC) can only be given/ used once right?

The only 10% offers I have received were identified as "a 10% discount in the form of a Future Cruise Credit" in the formal apology/cancellation email attachment from NCL.   I've received two (both this year).  The letter I received when they cancelled my May 2020 cruise only offered the 125% FCC in lieu of refund.  I chose the refund.  Look at your official .pdf cruise confirmation from NCL.  Most now list DISC30 under the promo codes in the upper right hand corner.  The one that I got the 10% real discount on (Hawaii May 2022) also lists DISC10.  I believe that this is how they track the 10% off in their system (whatever form it takes) and I don't believe anybody can use it more than once.

I'm still going to call later today to see what they have to say.  By this point, the reservations reps should be very familiar with the questions (hopefully with some real answers as well).

I just got off the phone and can (further) confirm what we apparently already knew.  Despite having multiple reservations cancelled, the 10% FCC discount can only be used once.  The agent seemed to understand this very well and confirmed that he could see that it had been present in my account but is not currently available (I then explained to him that I had gotten it applied previously to a Hawaii cruise scheduled for next May).  I'm guessing that if I kicked and screamed enough, I might have received a second discount but that's really not my style.  😎  I've never had a bad experience with a rep at the NCL reservations phone number.

  16. 10 minutes ago, julig22 said:

That is how the 10% discount coupon worked.  The current offering is 10% FCC - not the same thing.  MsTabbyKats has it correct.

Thanks.  This is really convoluted stuff.  I'm still going to call later today to see what they have to say.  By this point, the reservations reps should be very familiar with the questions (hopefully with some real answers as well).

You can only have ONE 10% discount coupon at any one time either in your account or on an existing reservation.

That appears to be what is happening in my account although, as others suggested, that doesn't seem to reflect what has been "offered."
