  1. items forbidden on board

Port Security has the duty to search Guests and luggage to confiscate any article internationally known as dangerous for the safety and security of Guests, Crew and ship. Such items will be confiscated and not returned. Alcohol, firearms, sharp objects such as blades and scissors, flammable and explosive material, items with heating elements or open flames (e.g. clothing irons, hair irons. kettles, hotplates, candles, incense), drones. If explosive material, guns or illegal drugs are detected, law enforcement will be immediately alerted. MSC  MSC Cruises will be forced to deny access to any guests not complying with these mandated regulations. In the interest of health and safety, beverages and food (including partially eaten or home cooked items) may not be brought on board either. Exception: dry, packaged and commercially produced foods.

From what I've read they have just switched things like drink prices form euros to pounds .ie, a drink that was 13 euros is now £13. Maybe they will do the same with obc.

On my ticket it lists my 50 euro OBC as £40 so they are stiffing me if using 1:1 for prices on the ship.

On a side note at the moment its difficult to get a covid pass for a child, even if the child has been vaccinated. The nhs app will not show childrens vaccine records. Hopefully that will change

Depends on the age of the child, 12 years old and over can get a printed certificate from here:

Get your NHS COVID Pass letter - NHS (www.nhs.uk)

13 years and above can register for the NHS app and use that for proof of vaccination as any adult can.

Source: just been on a cruise round the med with my 12 year old son and 15 year old daughter.

Under 12's I can see being a problem.

Both DH and myself are triple vaccinated. DH is due the 4th booster.

then you don't need a covid recovery cert as you would be classed as fully vaccinated by any current cruise lines requirements.

  5. What's your vaccination status ? Covid Recovery certificates are only needed to help you with your vaccination status if you don't meet the full requirements, if you are classed as fully vaccinated then you don't need a recovery certificate.

  6. Not that I'm advocating not filling in the PLF. I can give you my recent experience of it.

Was on the Grandiosa April 5 to April 12, From Italy, to Spain to France and back to Italy. At no point was the PLF checked or asked for, even on my flight to Italy at the beginning, and never when leaving the ship or boarding the ship at all the ports.

Admittedly no Portugal visit, and as I stated I'm not advising not to fill it in, but don't be surprised if it never gets checked.

We will be travelling to Italy on a cruise ship, arriving on the 22nd April. We have both had 3 vaccinations, the last, the booster within the 270 day deadline. Will we have to complete a PLF and if so,  within how many days of arrival on the 22nd will this be required.

Yes PLF still required, you can fill it in now if you want, but will need to do it before you travel to italy.

EU Digital Passenger Locator Form (dPLF) (euplf.eu)

  8. Starting from April 1, 2022 Guests will be able to go ashore independently according to local requirements which are continually monitored and subject to change. Guests who are travelling with unvaccinated children are also able to go ashore independently. For the best ashore experience, we recommend all guests explore destinations with the comfort, convenience, and safety of an MSC Cruises Shore Excursion, bookable pre-cruise and on board. Some excursions will require an official Covid certificate to access some venues (I.e. museums, churches,..) or to participate any event.

    Princess in May

If my home country requires proof of a negative COVID-19 test result for re-entry following my cruise, will Princess administer and cover the cost of the test?

If a negative COVID-19 test is required for re-entry into your home country, subject to availability, Princess will cover the costs of any COVID-19 test administered on board within the timeframe required prior to travel. Please note that if your travel plans go beyond the validity of the onboard test, you are responsible for securing and paying for your own test.

Guests are encouraged to review their home country’s health authority and travel websites to understand the latest guidance on required testing and timing for return travel.

So I hope you can help, I am trying to figure out how to get a COVID test before we fly home.  The day before we dock we are at sea, so no video.  And of course the airline changed the flight from when we booked and now is 12:15  . . .  wouldn't it be cool if the cruise ship's medical would set it up for the day at sea???  Do you know any resource?

Which cruiseline ? Lots of them allow you to get a Covid test done onboard (at a cost) for exactly this reason.

Can you explain how you generate the cruise docs without uploading photos? I have completed all of the passenger details but photos will not upload. When I try to get docs it won’t let me!

Most common cause is phone numbers, make sure your dropping the leading zero when using +44, other causes are addresses, make sure you use the dropdown boxes to select things (when available) and not typed directly.

    Hey there!

just returned from Marsaille and the Grandiosa. You can embark there as soon as 10 AM. Just go there and complete the check in. Cabin won’t be ready until about 2 PM though.

    for disembarkation:

you have to be out of the cabin by 8 AM. That is also the time that the first people that disembark independently can go off.
should you be in a disembarkation group but would like to change to a different one, you can do that at guest service on the evening before. If you want to go independently the latest you can go is at 10 AM and you have to keep ALL of your luggage with you.

that was how it was for me yesterday.

    hope I could help

    greetings Tina

Sorry to hijack but since you have just been on the Grandiosa, could I ask a few questions.

What was your itinerary ? We are leaving from Civitavecchia, then Palermo, Malta, Barcelona, Marseille Genoa back to Rome

Was antigen acceptable for pre boarding test ?

Did you have to do a PLF ? and did you just the one listing all the ports ?

    Masking requirements ?

    Independent excursions ?

Passengers numbers ? Busy ? Lines and queues anywhere ?

    Thanks

Got the coupon on board last week, but I can't figure out how to apply it when I go to make a booking on MSC's site.  Do I just go ahead and book it, and then reach out MSC customer service, or is there a place I can put in the code?  Thanks

That's what I did, got a letter with a 30% discount, booked a cruise online then emailed them to have discount applied. They wanted a copy of the letter, which I scanned and emailed them.

You could book thru ringing them and getting the code applied at the same time I suppose, but doesn't appear you can do it online without contacting them about it.

  14. For Med cruises yes, Travel Requirements Mediterranean | MSC Cruises

To ensure peace of mind, MSC Cruises requires all guests to have a specific and mandatory Covid-19 insurance policy to embark, covering against COVID-19 related risks, i.e cancellation, interruption, repatriation expenses, quarantine, medical assistance and related expenses, as well as hospitalization.  Before finalizing a reservation, it is possible to add to the cruise on this website the MSC COVID-19 Protection plan to all departures on sales from 2021-2022 Winter season onwards. A proof of the specific COVID-19 coverage insurance policy - which must be in one of the following languages English, Italian, German, French or Spanish - must be presented at embarkation or boarding will be denied.

Im sailing on 2nd April in the Med looks like myself and my wife will be able to go shoreside freely (we are all boostered)  but not sure how they will treat our 3 year old, she is still too young for vax

You got a source for that ? I am also sailing in the med from 2nd April and all I can see is that you MIGHT be able to go ashore freely, not seen a confirmation anywhere from MSC.
