And... 15 drinks for one person might be way different than for someone else. Not only with regard to that persons tolerance (or their size), but also based on what they drink/order:

My girlfriend's son-in-law can drink a 12 pack of beer and not even been fazed. But then he is 6 foot 6 and 300 pounds.

They'll have to wait for Autopsy. Could have many things that aren't "suspicious". Heart Attack, Stroke, Depending on age it could have been a Natural Death. The Media loves to spin Drama.

Age is reported to be 37. While heart attacks and strokes happen at that age they are not very common. Probably why the FBI is investigating.

I sailed on Mardi Gras and had a great time!  Drinks, food and crew were all great!  There are so many venues that if you do not like one, try another.  Don't like the way they mix a drink, ask them to change it.  Unless you just do not like large cruise ships, I think you would have to work at having a bad time on Mardi Gras.  Instead of making fewer huge venues, they have made a lot of smaller venues, so there are always alternate choices.

3 bars, each could not make a simple Daiquiri, hard to make a Daiquiri when the bars do not have simple syrup to put in the drink. Straight up and and straight up lime juice does not make for a tasty Daiquiri. That is a Carnival training issue. Cut of meat that are mostly fat is a Carnival issue, not simply liking the meal.

I have been on the fence to book one of the newest ships mostly because of the mixed reviews. I prefer big or newer ships but can't shake the feeling I won't like the experience on these mega ships.

I really like Vista class and still haven't sailed Horizon yet so it will either be Celebration or Horizon for next cruise just can't pull the trigger and book ughhhh.

Well next fall Galveston gets the Jubilee, we won't be sailing on it.

This is the problem with the floating mall design that many of the new ships are copying, it removes you from the ocean going experience and that is precisely why many people cruise. I get the need for the wind screens in certain locations but you want to be able to see the ocean from everywhere pretty much. The closed design really takes away from that experience and it's harder and harder to find full decks to walk the ship from tip to tail. I much prefer the open designs over the floating mall designs. The more sky, sunshine and ocean the better. Outdoor space is important.

Royal is sending one of their Oasis class ships to run & day cruises out of Galveston. If they leave one of their smaller ships here we might try a RC cruise.

Yes and this is why I think the Spirit Class ships could all use a good "Radiancizing." I have been on both the Miracle and the Radiance recently. The same new, sleek design of the public rooms of the Radiance should be used to renovate and refresh all of the Spirit Class ships.

With Carnival trying the sell 1.25 Billion in bonds to pay the bills I doubt that will happen.

But many of the bars will make you a frozen daiquiri and use the sugary box mix.  Get it at the Alchemy Bar and they can put a smidgen of simple syrup to balance the tartness and not make it too sweet and it'll be shaken over ice and served in it's proper glass.

Tried one there, they did not put any simple syrup in it, nor the Havana Bar nor the Brass Magonlia.

I couldn't complain about the bed (this time). But had to cancel a family stopover on the way home. Husband started with sore throat, sneezing, etc. And now it's my turn. Not covid, back to the cruise crud. His driving was miserable. I was lucky enough to not have it hit til we got home. Had to reschedule a doctor appt even though I tested negative. The FB group that I had joined had a fair share of colds, covid & flu, so not a surprise.

Yes, my girlfriend started coming down with it Thursday night on the cruise, stay in the cabin on Friday and gave it to me on drive home. She is still affected by it, mine lasted two days. She saw niece yesterday who is a NP and was COVID negative also.

I had the same problem trying to order a classic daquiri on another Carnival ship, too. I think because so many of the go-to cocktails ordered are just the advertised menu items or frozen strawberry daquiri using a mix, they don't know the recipe to other drinks or classic versions. Not so much a fault with the bartender personally, it's a fault with Carnival's training and service expectations. I just explained to the bartender how to make it and she understood and made it.

I asked them to put simple syrup in it and they did not have any to put in it.

I was on this same sailing and same experience at Cucina except for a very badly done version of Veal Marsala, lol. I could go on about the different things I experienced too, but this is your post, I'm just adding a little to it.

After first day, elevator situation calmed down. Last morning, not so much. We were taking our own luggage off as were driving 1k miles home. Luckily we only had to carry our luggage only one flight to avoid the elevators.

Would I sail her again? Yes, but I wouldn't make it a priority. Nothing major, just little jabs here and there. It is a very pretty ship and I'm sure others will have different experiences and/or opinions.

I still have to complete my survey, dragging my feet since I know it's not going to be glowing.

We had an 1k mile drive too. Was a long and painful drive because Carnivals beds do not agree with my back.

Let's be positive for once on her and start with...

    The Good

    • The ship-This was my first time on the Spirit class and first time on the Carnival Spirit. I loved the layout of the ship and it never felt too crowded or jam packed (unless you get stuck behind a Berlin Wall-like blockade of scooters and walkers. Let's have some spatial self-awareness puz-lease!)
    • Embarkation-I used Verifly, but they didn't bother to look at it. It was still super quick and painless.
    • Debarkation-Again, super quick and painless. I walked off with my bag around 8:45 and it was not crowded or chaotic like it normally is
    • Alchemy Bar-Seriously, this was a genius part on Carnival's end. Amazing drinks and amazing bartenders as always. I love craft cocktails, so this is my favorite place on board. Viktor, who just ended his contract today actually, has been on Spirit for almost NINE MONTHS, since before the initial startup in Jacksonville. He's coming to Miracle in a month, so make sure you seek him out. Katiya and Giovanni were the other alchemists and were also amazing. (Gio kept making me a strawberry vodka drink with raspberries that was incredible)
    • The Cruise Director Erin-She might be one of my low key favorites. She's not cheesy and doesn't rely on gimmicks or lame jokes to be a CD. She's personable and engaging. Specifically I really enjoyed her during the Military Appreciate gathering and the Love and Marriage show
    • The Military Appreciation Gathering-Carnival is the only one who does something like this and it's one of my favorite things every cruise. I love that they have a dedicated event for us to support our military
    • Most Food-I'll get into a few notable misses in The Bad section, but by and large, the food was really good. This is super subjective, so I won't drag this out
    • Blue Iguana Cantina-these burritos and tacos are always delicious. I had so many this week. The exact number I had is between me and God only
    • Chopsticks in the buffet-I love Asian food and eat it frequently at home. Every time I went this food was delicious. I really appreciated all the sauces (including hot oil!!!) at the end of the buffet.
    • Steakhouse-A friend graciously invited me to join him in the steakhouse. The food was excellent and the company was even better. The wasabi mashed potatoes are an unusual pairing, but absolutely delicious
    • Fitness Center/Spa-I love that this class as a free sauna and steam room in the locker room. I hate the trend of tiny co-ed thermal suites that are an upcharge. I actually used the gym and there was a lot of equipment, free weights, etc. Everything you need for a ship workout. The rower may have been broken or I'm just idiot.

I'm sure there is plenty more, but that what I have for now. I'll add more when I think of it. Goldfish-like attention span, remember?

Carnival does do a good job of the Military Appreciation. I did not get to it on my Mardi Gras cuz I was day drinking that day.

Oh. My. Gosh.  I am legit nauseated by your cockroach encounters.  Just one would be enough to freak me out for the rest of the cruise.  But FOUR!!!???🤢🤮  That is utterly disgusting and unacceptable!  I'm no Karen, but I would want a lot of compensation for that horrible experience.  Thank you for taking the time and telling us about it.

In the mid 2000's we actually had to destroy the box on one of our ambulances. Maintenance sent me the video of them cutting it open with a saw a thousand's of roaches running out from between the inner and outer walls of the box.

I've only been able to find a 24 pk or 4 pk.  Does it matter if I bring 2- 4pk?
I only drink the Rehab Monsters.  I don't like carbonation.

    Thanks!!

It's 12 "soda's" so I would think so. They didn't even look in our carryon bag in Port Canaveral last week, just ran it trough the x ray and off we went.

I do think this has to do with most places in the restaurant world, get what you can get as supply is so low. Won't ruin my cruise by any means as the food is "free" in my opinion.

It's not free, it's part of your cruise fare. When you spend $2,000.00 or more on a cruise you should not have expect fatty cuts of meat.

We had a 2-Tank Dive excursion booked through Carnival on the Breeze.  Before we arrived in Cozumel we were notified that all dive excursions were cancelled fleet-wide.  While we were in Cozumel we didn't see any dive boats servicing Carnival or Royal ships.

When we enquired at the Shore Excursions desk we were told that it had to do with insurance.

It sounds like it may just be a temporary thing but if you have a dive scheduled you may want to double check.

On our upcoming cruises we plan to book privately.

There are tons of very reputable dive operation in Cozumel. Has to be better than the cattle call diving run through the ships.
