  1. Day 4 Santa Margarita. We tendered into Santa Margarita early in the morning to catch a tour of the Cinque Terre. A bus trip of about an hour to a village named Levanto then followed. We then took a short train to Monterosso al Mare. We walked through the village, did a little tour, then went to the beach where my wife took a little swim. I stayed on the beach, which upon reflection was a mistake, I should have cooled down. After a while, we shopped a bit and had some focaccia. We took a short run on a boat which took us to Vernazza. It was here that the crowds were really overwhelming. It was a beautiful place, but way too many people. The heat had also caught up to me. I ended up pouring a couple of bottles over my head. This helped, and we shopped a bit and had more focaccia. From our 2019 cruise experience, we had learned that a four or five hour excursion was the length we preferred. This one had to be an eight hour trip, due to the distances, so we had to live with it. Our excursion took us to only two of the Cinque terra. We were told that you can't do more than two of the villages from Santa Margarita. Looking back on it, we should have done this excursion from La Spezzia, which is much closer, and allows you to see three of the villages, but spoilers, it wouldn't have mattered.
  2. Hi, I'm pretty sure it was a SwitchHealth kit. I know they had issues with the technical side of things. I know that looking back on it, they would have got a local test. Many people on the ship went that route, and were happy.
  3. Hi, Yes. My wife and I came down with Covid in early June. We were better in time for our cruise on July 2nd. We required a positive PCR test, which we got on June 14th. After recovery, we got letters from our physician a week before our flight to Barcelona on the 26th. When we checked into the ship, they looked at our vaccination record and the COR. No problems.
  4. Hi, as we had both recently recovered from Covid, we didn’t need to get tested. Our travelling companions tested with one of the distance tests and an iPad
  5. Day 3. Villefranche. The four of us had booked a four hour excursion to Nice and Eze. We tendered into Villefranche from the ship, but had to walk about 500M through the town to get to the bus. As an aside, I think Villefranche would be a great place to just disembark and wander the streets and alleys. We took about a 30 minute ride into downtown Nice. We wandered around the town and fairly quickly found ourselves on the beach. We spent about 45 minutes there and the ladies, being prepared, went for a swim. Another ride on the bus ended in the parking lot below Eze. Like most days it was 30 degrees plus, and the hike up to the village was somewhat intense, although not very long. Eze is worth the trip. Beautiful place.
  6. We cruised on the Beyond from July 2nd-July 11, from Barcelona. We both had COR. I don't think the girl who checked us in has seen many before, as she went to a supervisor for about 1 minute, before coming back and looking after us. It was easy peasy.
  7. I'm sorry. That's a picture of the sunset bar on the Infinity. I should have mentioned that in my post
  8. An item to note. I found that the sunset bar was rather exposed to the sun. There was little shade, and we tended to avoid it. In contrast in 2019 on the Infinity, there were structures that provided ample shade. In this respect, I preferred the Infinity
  9. Day 2. Marseille. When we started booking our excursions, we really didn't find one in Marseille that appealed to us. We chose to turn this day into an "at sea" day. In the morning I scouted out the ship. In the afternoon we visited all the pools we could access. We particularly enjoyed the plunge pools by the sunset bar. We ate that evening at Tuscan.
  10. Sorry folks, I had an issue or two so I couldn't update this. I'm hoping to continue later today
  11. Day 1 Continued. One of the things I was looking to do early was to check out the iLounge. There have been reports that some Celebrity ships have pre pandemic stock. No worries there as there was no stock at all. Nothing at all. It wouldn't have mattered much as they were charging Spanish sales tax, 21% as I remember. About half way through the cruise a selection of Apple Watch series 7 were on sale. We ate that night at Normandie, and like all the supper meals on the ship it was fabulous. Our favourites were Normandie, and Tuscan. The other two were fine but not as good as the first two. There were four cruise ships in port and sail away was fun. We ended up the night at the Martini bar, which was quite busy. It would not be as busy for the rest of the cruise.
  12. The "balcony" is separated from the room by a flimsy plastic sliding door. Our cruise companions left their doors open the whole cruise. They ended up with a larger stateroom, with a window that opened. In my opinion it isn't really a balcony.
  13. I think your cruise documents will show the time you are looking for. When I saw your arrival time, I was immediately concerned for you. Things are pretty chaotic at airports lately. If the 1pm arrival time can't be changed. I would, 1 Bring carry ons only. Baggage delays were pretty long in Barcelona in late June. 2 Take a taxi directly to the port. It should be about a 20-30 minute trip.
  14. Hi, I wish I could help, but I am not sure of the answer to your question.
  15. Day 1, July 2nd. We had a 12:00-12:30 pm boarding time. We took a taxi, picked up the other two and quickly arrived at the port. I was pleasantly surprised how close the taxi was able to get to the ship. Check in was very fast, the only hiccup was that the lady at the desk was less familiar with people who were boarding with certificates of recovery then people with antigen tests. After a few minutes we boarded. It was obvious from the start that there were not so many people on the ship. The number I kept hearing was about 1600. My wife had been on the Edge in early 2020, and was not enthralled by the infinity balcony. We ended up booking what I think of as a porthole balcony on deck eight, forward. Here are a few pics. The other couple had the standard balcony. I have to say I preferred ours.
  16. Hi there. I was fortunate enough to be on the Beyond from July 2nd to the 11. I’ve been back a while and have had some time to reflect. In this review, I might mention comparisons to a July 2019 seven night cruise on the Infinity from Civitivecchia to Venice. Pre cruise. We arrived in Barcelona five days before departure. Upon arrival, we met the other two members of our party, another couple who are related to us. We really liked Barcelona and almost didn’t want to leave. next.. day 1 departure
  17. I'll have to agree with Charles. No one should be buying any Mac with intel chips in them in 2022. I have a 2021 M1 MacBook Air. The thing is lightning fast, gets great battery life, and runs so cool it doesn't have a fan. I am on the July 2nd sailing of the Beyond. I'm interested in seeing if they have have newer stock, as it is a new ship. Specifically, I'll be looking for an iPad Mini 6. I'll post to let you folks what I see
