  1. I submitted an early saver fare reduction request for a fare that was available last Friday.  The form says that Carnival will respond within 2 business days, (during which time the fare was still available).  Carnival didn't get around to acting on this until the third business day (Wednesday), by which time the fare had gone up..  This (higher) fare is the one that I was given.  Any advice on who I can contact to petition for that lower fare that I should have received if Carnival had acted according to their guidelines?  I've tried calling the customer service number but nobody seems to know how to resolve.

I booked with a TA as well. I'm wondering if this is the problem. ??

I contacted my TA who said to use the gift cards to buy Cruise Cash. The only problem is...it says you are only allowed to purchase $500 in Cruise Cash per stateroom. Our gratuities for 4 people in the room is more than that ($512) and I still want to purchase the soda package and maybe an excursion as well. UGH! 😡

In the past, when I've booked through a TA, I was only able to pre-pay gratuities once my cruise was paid in full (at which point everything was handled through Carnival).  Hopefully that is/will be the case for you.

That screen is all the way up. The only other thing above it is my booking number and cruise. Yes, I've tried it multiple times, including going back, logging out, restarting. That's what I get each time.

What are you clicking to get to that screen?

It only gives the option of credit card or paypal.

When I see that screen, I can just scroll up to get to the other options.  Or, try to go back (I assume you got to this page from clicking on the "balance due" option.

So I just purchased some from AARP. How do I add it to my account to pay for my gratuities before boarding? I only see the option to use a credit card or paypal to pay for it?

on the page that says "select payment option", the very first option should be "add a gift card".  If you are already at the credit card/paypal section, try scrolling up

I was able to add my Carnival GC to my Apple Wallet.  Email appeared notifying that my purchase from AARP went through. Clicked on Get My Reward button.  I had to wait a couple seconds till the Add to Apple Wallet button appeared.  Clicked on it then clicked the Add button.

I hope it works out better for you in the future!

Thanks for the feedback - not sure why my purchase this week didn't give me that option, but I am encouraged that at least the option does still seem to exist.

  7. In the past I seem to remember that it was fairly straightforward to add these to my Apple Wallet.  Now, there only seems to be a link on the e gift cards to add to Google Wallet.  Has anyone had success recently in putting these on your iPhone for easier retrieval when on board? (I know I can take a picture and save it in my photos, just easier if I can have it stored in my Apple Wallet)

    Any questions - fire away.

Overall an excellent cruise.  Friendly crowd, super staff and service on board, food was pretty good in most venues all week.  Entertainment was so-so in the main theater, but the variety of musicians (Alter Jamm!) around the ship more than made up for it.

Probably the best thing, IMO, outside of a ridiculous line to get off the ship in Grand Turk, nothing ever felt crowded all week.  Comedy shows were tight, but that’s always the case.  Buffet lines never that bad, deck chairs easy to get, pools fairly quiet all week.   Embarkation and Debarkation were about as fast as possible - again, just everything easy and relaxed.

And again, the service.  If you are fortunate to have Alvin, Sherwin and Jess in the main dining room, or Sherin in the Lobby Bar, or just about anyone else on this ship who work so hard, so quick, to make you have a great cruise, you will have a great time.

Weather was good all week.  We loved Amber Cove and this itinerary.  Not many complaints at all.  Sure, you can see some of the differences if you want to find them, some of the cutbacks (bacon on the buffet every other day etc) - but it’s still a cruise, and it was a great time.

Thanks for the report!  Did you notice/experience any long lines at Pizza Pirate?  This was cited in other threads, but am encouraged to hear your feedback!

If I want to go January 15 to Atlantis do I book the night of the 15th?  How early can I arrive at Comfort Suites to get my Atlantis passes?

How best to get there from the port, we will be on Royal?

I actually stayed at the CS a few years back and it was great.

@Jen1000 would be interested in any feedback you have on your experience.  How early were you able to access aquaventure?

    Nope, I did. 🙂

I just called the hotel to confirm and I was told that YES, you CAN book a room in advance and still get Atlantis amenities as before.   As you suspected, she told me that if I were booking a room for today, it would not be valid.

It was around $40 per person to add people to your reservation, so for a group of four it would be:

regular room rate + resort/utility/housekeeping fees (if assessed)  + $120, potentially saving hundreds.

Nice to see that one of the best cruise-travel hacks in the Caribbean is still available!....and I wish I could edit my prior comments accordingly.

So for your cruise @mattR, you should not have to worry about getting those day-passes at all.  Keep your Comfort Suites reservation, high-tail it over to the hotel when you dock and get your sacred pink cards.

You'll need to show them at least once to get into Atlantis proper; there was a new checkpoint at the foot of the hill from the Coral Tower and close to Comfort Suites.  As of a few weeks ago you'll go to the Aquaventure kiosk on the lower level of the Royal Towers lobby to get your wristbands.

If you'd like any additional info, just let me know.  It's the kind of place where you really NEED to know where to go.

This is great info, thanks @Pellaz  Do you know if you can access aquaventure "early" - in other words, we arrive in port at 9AM, but hoping that we can get access to aquaventure before the formal check-in time of 3PM?

  11. I'm wondering if anyone has cruised recently who tested positive for COVID within the 3 month window.  I believe that the wording on the Carnival website has changed, and it appears that a doctors note of recovery is no longer required, only proof of a positive test within 3 months (as long as it is greater than 10 days) prior to sailing.  Can anyone who recently had COVID verify this?  I just want to make sure I am not missing something.

    Document of Recovery

Guests who have recovered from COVID-19 within 3 months of their sailing date do not need the required pre-cruise test if they are at least 10 days past their positive test result date, have no symptoms and produce document of recovery from COVID-19. A Document of Recovery is accepted from both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated guests (with a Carnival-approved exemption) and consists of a paper or electronic copy of the positive viral test result from a certified laboratory (dated no more than 90 days prior to the sailing date).

  12. Hi everyone - does anyone know where I can find out what constitutes a "certified laboratory"?  We are cruising in July and my daughter just tested positive (rapid test) at her college.  The test is performed in a facility where she swabs herself but then the result as ascertained by an independent technician.  Any idea how I can find out whether that rapid test administered at her school will be sufficient for the "electronic copy of the positive viral test result from a certified laboratory"

  13. I am hoping to prepay my gratuities for an upcoming cruise using a gift card, but the only options I am given are to pay via credit card and PayPal.  In searching through older posts, it appears that this was once possible.  Has changed their policy, or has anyone else had success with this?  Is the only way to do this via Cruise Cash?

  14. I have been regularly checking fares by logging into carnival.com, and calling via travel agency to take advantage of any fare drops.  The last time I called, there was a super low fare that was identified after my travel agent called Carnival - $500 cheaper than what I could find on the website.  I was inputting my VIFP number, etc., but this lower fare did not show up on any searches that I was able to perform, and did not show up under "My Offers" when listing my VIFP number.

Are some fares only available via telephone?  I'm confused as to why i couldn't find these fares, and am somewhat scared to call back because I don't want them to realize that they booked me on a fare for which I was not supposed to be eligible!

  15. I've been regularly looking for fare reductions on my upcoming Carnival Legend cruise.  Yesterday and today, the cruise that I am booked for (as well as a couple of others throughout the summer) have disappeared from the website - I can no longer find them.  Is this a glitch with the system, or an indication that the ship is sold out?

  16. Bummer - We used to like to play board games in the library, but I do understand that the arcade will probably get more use.  Not sure if there are any other spaces with large tables on board?  I still don't understand why they can't do dive-in movies.  Seems like a relatively small investment for a big benefit.
