  1. I bring 2 debit cards in the amounts of 500 and 300 for a total of 800.  I provide the 500 card when I board which should cover any expenses that I will have.  I will be paying before we leave 2-2 pks of coupons to be used at specialty restaurants along with 4 others that I will receive and before we leave I am buying a special dinner at La Bistro which includes a bottle of wine and 2 photos of us taken in their studio.

The DC will be used for martini classes, anything  that I will buy to take back with me, and if I order a drink over the 15 which is charged to your account,   Tips will be paid for in cash along with gambling,  I got the 300 DC just in case I run low but I do not think that will happen,  This card will be used for a special dinner when we get back to celebrate her birthday.

  2. Just a quick note to all of you who responded to my question regarding martini classes and the La Bistro package with wine and 2 included photographs.  I am glad hopefully, there will be martini classes as I met people via the Meet and Greet where their spouse didn't  drink martinis so her and I would meet at the classes and have our 5 martinis  then maybe continue at the Martini Bar  We kept in touch for a while until she discovered NCL cruises in Europe which we have no desire to go to Europe with the wife does not have the vacation time so we will stick to cruises leaving NYC for either the Carribean or Canada But once the wife retires in 10 years we will go to Alaska   As far as the La Bistro we will just go to La Bisto as it is one of our favorite places to eat on NCL along with Cagney's and The Bar on a Sunday afternoon watching the Bills play and hopefully on their way to the Super Bowl.   I would not have minded to pay the money for the package   wiwh La Bisto which included 2 bottles of wine, dinner and the 2 photos but not not that if I have get a  $1200 photo package I rather get my 2 photos which I guess is taken in the studio,  If they did take photos of us around the ship ok as long as we can pick and chose which extra photo(s) who would like and not at a marked up price

  3.

I   am booked on NCL Prima next year after due to covid on ships I was not able to sail

I was just wondering if NCL brought back martini tasting where you can have 5 different martini samples for $25 over a time period of   an hour or hour and half.  In the past I have always gone to the tasting and enjoyed myself along with anyone I could convince to  join me.  Some of my new friends and me would continue to have a couple of more after class just relax and talk.  They live/lived in the NYC/NJ area with me living in the Albany area. (a long story but I live in the Buffalo, NY area

The other question is there a get together when you may get dressed up to have your photo taken with the Captain or a member of his staff who spends an hour or so having their photo taken with you of course a cost to you if you want the photo.  It was held on a sea day which I believe the 2nd full day at sea.   The reason I am asking I am planning on buying a dinner package for this night which I get a bottle of wine in the room the first night, dinner with another bottle of  wine, 2 photos taken of  you and the person you take to dinner

and snacks delivered to your room during the week.    The restaurant is La Bistro which I would make reservations of 730pm since the photo session ends at 6pm which gives us time to freshen up and have a drink before dinner.

Thank You for any info that you can provide me.

  4. OrangeCatRamble  Just a note regarding Prima.  I got a lot of information, Up till yesterday morning I was booked on the Joy for an August, 2024 cruise, which seem like a good time in the Carribean.  The only thing that I did not like was that we would be docked in San Juan ftill 8pm.  I spent 2  years in San Juan working and was called back 2 more times 30-60 days each time.  One thing that we were told is not to go to Old San Juan at night, this was early 70s when one guy owned two "houses" where mostly guys were go to.but he was never bothered by the police.

When I saw the Prima and that where in port in Old San Juan it is during the day where you can walk around, shop, walk to ethe forts, have a couple of drinks before going back to the ship.  I was sold.

I called my PCC and told her what I wanted to do and within 10 minutes my reservation was made with the room I wanted but I will be sailing the end of November 2024 to the first week of December which does not bother me since I am retired,

On YouTube under Cruise Ships. Cruise News Today Jude Parker did a short story about the January 2024 cancelation of the Joy.  He reported that NCL will be refunding all the money plus a 10% FCC and when the Joy is ready to sail in February the Joy will be sailing out of the Port of Miami.

I am sailing on the Joy to the Caribbean from NYC and cannot wait due to covid and the NCL cruises that were cancelled.

He reported this information on January 18th

  7. Ok thanks for the info.     I will have to go to them since my shopping only lasts 1/2 hour and I will need something to do till it is time to get back on the ship.   I lived in San Juan for 2 years and was called back 3 other times to help out on something but I spent my free time in St. Thomas with no time at the beach even though I did live on the beach for 8 months it was not worth the money that I had to pay for rent,   When I was called back I lived at a hotel where I got a free breakfast had a nice restaurant which served good food and then I could walk around and act like a tourist but not spend the money like a tourist.

We will be stopping in San Juan 2 times in August 2024 on the same cruise first time will be from 3pm and we leave at 10pm the other will be during the day leaving at 4pm I think so I will have time to go to Senor Frogs in San Juan.  I am not much of a partier, but I went there since it was near the pier, and you should have to run to get on the ship

  8. Just wondering no Senor Frogs in St. Thomas??  Due to covid my cruises have been canceled but I usually go to Senor Frogs at the Pier as my last stop before boarding the ship to the next island, I agree you can spend money there but since I am on vacation, I will spend it as long as I do not miss getting on board I do not want to be filmed as a runner.  If this is the case, I guess I will have to spend time at Senor Frogs in San Juan

  9. I am cruising August, 2024 on NCL Joy and even though 2 years away was wondering if   NCL discontinued the Martini Tasting they offered for $25, It was a great way to kill afternoon(s) when you are at sea or to hurry back to the ship so you would not miss out on the tasting,   I got to meet people who I had dinner with and one who I drove to PA from Buffalo to have coffee with.  While walking around the small town we found a place that sold ice cream but cannot remember if we got any.   We communicated for a while and I guess we both moved on as I stopped hearing from her

Thanks for any info that anyone can provide

  10. I have been on several NCL ships starting out with the Dawn when  was introduced, the Gem, Spirt, Jewel, and will be sailing on the Joy in 2  years after several cancelations of cruises by NCL.   Sailed on Dawn and Gen several times with the Gem I was introduced to the suites.

On the Spirit, some how I was able to sail in the owners suite.   There was just my girl friend and we did not know there were 2 bedrooms until  the 4th day when we were looking around our suite.

In all of the cruises I never had any complaints about anything or any staff

I just to say thanks for your post.  I have a reservation for a 5 day Bermuda cruise in September, 2022 from New York City to Bermuda for 30 hours when we sail back to New York.   I really did not want to get off the ship in Bermuda as I have been there several times in the past  on other cruises.  I would not mind getting the tests to prove that I am negative but was not crazy in paying $75 for a test when I wanted to stay on the ship so I can read a book that I am bringing with me and just relax.  I can follow NCL rules when you are on board.  I guess 6 feet apart, wear a mask all times unless you are sitting down for a meal or at a bar having a drink and I can do that.

So if nothing changes I not going to get tested by Bermuda authorities but will have a copy of my tests showing that a test was done before I  got on the ship the way NCL has requested the test and will give them a copy of it and not get tested and will remain on the ship

Marygarcie  Thanks again for posted what you did and I am going to copy your email where the agency I guess over sees the Bermuda shots

i am sailing on the Breakaway at the end of october. I have a feeling NCL will required that travel authorization as part of the checkin we do the terminal. I read somewhere either on the Bermuda website or somewhere else that the ship needs to send to the port official a manifest of everyone onboard the ship.

andates"This took place about ten days ago and may have changed!!!

  13. Under Honeymoon/Anniversary Packages there is one that I am looking at  for our September, 2022  5 day cruise to Bermuda cruise that most likely I will get this.  We will be married 7 years but this will not be near our anninverary.

    It is a Honeymoon/Anniversary Package

You get wine and choc covered strawberries waiting for you in you room

One night get ger canapleps in your room

dinner for 2 at La Bistro, you may be able to take the bottle of wine with you to dinner but why  enjoy in your room or your balconey.

8X10 professional photo taken of the 2 of you.

The price is not bad they others are higher price but may include other things to the package.

I have not ordered this before but over the years anything that I have ordered wine choc covered strawberries I have never been disappointed,

You have to order this or any package at least 5 days before you leave on the ship.

I love La Bistro next to Cagneys and will be going to both when we cruise next year.   We were cancelled 2 times over the last 2 years so hopefully we will make it this time.  I am retired so I can go any time.  The wife is young no she is not 21 but she is still working with a few years to go before she can retire.

No matter what you decide to do have a great time and enjoy each others company.

  14. 8 years ago my mother, my sister her husband me and my girlfriend went on a 7 day cruise.  I came with out our mother knowing that I would be there.   My mother ended up with 3 birthday cakes, one that I purchased, another that the butler obtained for her and another which was given by NCL which came to my suite in which the Captain stopped by to wish her a happy birthday.  We met the Captain at our Meet and Greet with the Captain stopping by.   We all worn shirt  that said to wish our mother Happy Birthday and my mom's shirt said "Yes it is my birthday and you can buy me a coffee"  The captain asked her if it was her birthday and she said yes and he wished her Happy Birthday and told her that he would see her later which we thought he would be in the hallways and not stopping by my suite.   Our mom had a great time all week since I was there one sad thing is that it was her last birthday

  15. This week I booked a 5 day cruise on NCL Joy for September, 2022.  I wanted to book it for 2023 but the Future Cruise Certificate that i  expires the end of 2022 and that I have to use it by by then after being extended a couple of times due to previous bookings that I had that were cancelled by NCL.

What I like about this cruise is that I leave from NYC and can get there by driving to Albany, NY catching a bus that goes to the pier and will pick you up when you get back.  I was looking at a 7 day cruise but since I could not use my certificate it was suggested for me to take a 5 day cruise   and I did obtain some perks unlimited drinks but paying for the tips, $50 toward any NCL tour I take, I get one free dinner from NCL and I think 2 or 3 for being a Plat. Latitude member I think  minutes of internet.  I am taking my laptop but I may just take in ashore and go to a coffee shop or maybe a bar that has free internet.

I can not wait after having previous cruises cancelled and with resturants, bars, casinos, etc being closed and a little snow there was not much to do in Buffalo, NY

  16. I have a question after cancelling our cruise 2 times of the last year I have decided to sail on the NCL Joy in July, 2022.   I booked a MC suite  in which  the s description of the room says that a   butler??  will  escort us on and off the ship.   If this is true do I also get free breakfasts and lunches in Cagney's.   I have also sailed a actual suite except for my first sailing on NCL about 20 years ago I think where I had a balcony.  Looking at the places where you can have your meals there is a lot of places and  in the past when when were available had good food.

I am not going to change my room but would like to find out and have to make sure that NCL will be saiing

    Thank You

  17. Sheehan was great, him and his family was on a cruise that my sister and her husband took our mother  on and I got the call that if I was not doing anything come along since it was our mother's birthday.  I went, I had to bribe a friend to come among and her and I had a great time.  .

Sheehan came to our Meet and Greet and you could not miss my mother, my sister made sweatshirts for all of stating that we were with the Birthday Girl and my mother''s shirt said yes she was the birthday girl no get her a cup of coffee.  Even though Sheehan stayed in the best suite on the ship you would see him act like a regular guy walking the halls who may stop and say Hi to you and ask if everything was ok.

  18. farmersfight    I know what you mean about being to short my first cruise was  4 day cruise in 1986 when I purchased a new GMC car and either the dealer or GM gave me the cruise,   It was my first time and only time on the "Big Red Boat"    Now that it appears you know everything no I am not inquiring about free  or feel but since I have  suite do  I get  breakfast and  lunch in one of the restaurants, usually it was Cagney's or Modernos.    I have not been on a cruise in 2 years  and we all know things has changed with the new leadership and maybe not for the better,   I am planning on having a good time even though 14 months away I stay up to 2-4am, no not drinking but at home I am on my lap top doing work even though retired it kept me out of trouble

Thank You for your input but I am sorry to say that I will not behaving myself.   The cruise I was on I met someone who I also knew and we were up every night talking about him till 9-10pm ( will admit that I was there longer till the bartender cleaned up the bar and closed down around 2am.   He had to be at another bar at 11am to tend that bar for 3-4 hours till 6pm when he opened the other bar.  Every morning I was there at the pool bar waiting for him to show up and see if he was on time,   That is all I am going to stay

Thank you very much for the information.    These certifications will be great since I am buying a dinner package which includes dinner at La Bistro, a bottle of wine, breakfast in bed, a visit to the spa and roses.     I am getting this for my wife for her birthday while we are on the cruise, and with t he Platinum dinner we can eat at Cagney's.   Our 2 favorite restaurants not that we ever had a bad meal.

  21. I was booked a 7 day cruise in October, 2020 but cancelled after NCL started to cancel their 2020 cruises.   I received all of my money back which I guess it was a good thing instead of NCL holding on to some.

I rebooked my cruise for a 5 day cruise for December, 2021 cruise and booked a suite,

My question is, I only received one free dinner from NCL which I guess that is what you get.   But I am a Plat member which is suppose to get 3 free feels from them.  I received my printout

and these dinners where not listed.  Do I get any dinners for free that just the one from NCL.   I contacted by NCL person who I have dealt with for over 10  years and what she told me is that i would have to deal this this when i get on board..  In the past these free dinners were listed on the paperwork that she sent me and received them when I boarded.   Maybe I am not entitled to 3 but I thought maybe at least one.  I do not mind spending the money but a free dinner for 2 at Cagney's is not a bad deal.

I was just wondering and no I am not going to change my mind if  I do not get them but may change some things that I had planned since they also cost money

    Thank You

    Sam

  22. Again I would like to thank all of you for your input.   I guess I will have to check my emails more often than I do   I know if the NCL PCC has to contact me she will.   I will  not be deserting NCL as it has been my line for over the last 14 years sailing on The Big Red Boat and Carnival.   I still really like NCL and never found any problems that maybe a drink or a good dessert could not help
