The cruise lines must really love passengers like you.

Are you as forgiving of airlines and hotesl as well.

Sorry you cannot see the difference between

    1. We will provide you with transportation to a hotel where arrangements have been made for you.  Here is the letter explaining how to deal with expenses.  Only to be dumped in the parking lot waiting for the promised transportation

    and

    2. You are on your own, go find your own hotel and transportation. Here is the process for handling expenses.

    They did 1, not 2.

Also have you tried in a city to find quarantine hotels, and transportation.  What do you think the response would be when you tried to set up transportation and lodging while disclosing that you need to quarantine.

Just as a test try calling the main chains and ask them if they can assist if helping you find a hotel.

For that matter see how many Uber drivers accept a fare if you disclose that you need transportation to a quarantine location.

Might not be as easy as you think. Or would you just neglect to tell them?

I wonder if you would be as forgiving if you were the one dumped by the fence

You don't need to attack the guy.

  2. might be the case.  IIRC, it was an inside cabin and it was much sooner than 55 days that I was invited to upgrade.  This time, I'm in a upper level balcony, but they should still offer me the opportunity to try a taste of Spa, Club, or Haven.

Is there any benefit to booking while we’re cruising?

Used to be, the perk to doing do was an extra specialty meal - the Free at Sea would give you 3 and you'd get another for booking on board for a total of 4.  I booked with the CruiseNext sales for the discount and since I booked onboard, the purchase was called CruiseNext Plus.  I believe that booking onboard now gets you a free stateroom upgrade, i.e. inside to ocean view or ocean view to balcony, etc.

  4. I've been researching activities to do at Stone Island for while in prep for a March cruise.

Horseback riding seems very informal and cash only, so I'm pretty sure there's not reservation system.  It looks like you keep walking until you find them or ask one of the restaurants to hook you up (like most of the activities on there).

The attached video said 300 pesos/30 min.  Some of the info you seek is at 10 min of this video:

So, what would happen if you requested a FCC for an upcoming cruise in January 2022. Then you booked a cruise for, I don’t know, June 2022.
61 days before the cruise you realize you can’t go because of a work obligation. Can you cancel the June cruise and get a monetary refund or once it’s converted to FCC it’s sort of like a gift card on NCL that can’t be converted to cash?
Just playing out different scenarios in my head. I don’t plan on asking for FCC because January is the only time of year we can travel (as you can see by my cruise history 🤣).

if you wait until 61 days out for a June sailing, you're too late:

for all cruises departing through May 31, 2022, cancel up to 61 days prior for a full refund.

cancel up to 121 days for June; at 61, you get a 50% Cancellation Fee.

Okay, so let me get this straight...

I'm sailing on the Escape next Saturday Jan 8 for a week. My husband and I are driving from Ohio to Florida. Our friends/family that are also going are flying down the same day the cruise leaves.

Because of the current covid situation, we have decided collectively as a group to wait until Wednesday to make a decision whether to go or not. If we decide to not go, I can use NCL's Peace of Mind policy for a future cruise and not lose my money?

I called NCL but...well you know, the wait time....I was on hold for an hour and had to hang up because I have an appointment.

For new and existing bookings made by January 31, 2022, for any voyage with an embarkation date through and including May 31, 2022, guests are free to cancel up to and including January 31, 2022 and get a full refund in the form of a Future Cruise Credit to be used for sailings that embark through December 31, 2022.

Has NCL modified the final payment schedule for voyages embarking after March 31, 2022 up to May 31, 2022?  I have a mid-May cruise that I am hoping will change from 120 days to 60 days.

this is what they have for you as of now:

"For cruises departing thru October 2021, cancel up to 15 days before embarkation date and get a full refund in the form of a Future Cruise Credit. Additionally, for all cruises departing through May 31, 2022, cancel up to 61 days prior for a full refund."

  8. When I was on the phone with the the last rep in the CruiseNext dept, the position remained that there is no extension.  Later the same day, I logged in to my account and saw that the expiration date was changed to 12/31/2002.

It is important to note though, that even though the use by date has been pushed out, it appears that sail by dates have not changed, must sail by 12/31/2022.  Even the new FCC handed out through the revived POM has sail by 12/31/2022.  NCL wants/needs to get these credits out of the way.

  9. I used FCC from March 2020 to rebook my current March 2022 cruise, so I am just outside the final payment date.  Being outside, if I choose to cancel:

Reservations cancelled outside of final payment will receive a full refund back to the method of payment used to book. If outside final payment and an FCC was used as payment, the original FCC will be added back to the guest’s profile.

The returned FCC will revert to either expired dates or expiration dates sooner than Dec 31, 2022.  So it appears that, in my situation, it is better to wait until final payment has passed and receive new FCC?

New FCC issued is to be used for sailings that embark through December 31, 2022.

Either way, it seems the line drawn is that all FCC must be sailed by December 31, 2022.

I'm planning to hold out and either sail or hope the cruise is cancelled.  I doubt I'll be able to find a more hospitable cruise in 12 months. I don't think there will be much of a difference in the COVID situation between March vs. any other date in the next 12 months on top of coordinating departure port/itinerary and time between work and school schedules.

So I guess I'm saying I'm not very impressed with the part that says "to be used for sailings that embark through December 31, 2022."

  10. The Peace of Mind policy, which also allows guests to cancel up to 48 hours prior to embarkation for 2020 sailings, was initially launched in March 2020 to reassure guests during this extraordinary time.

    then,

Guests sailing on cruises booked by Aug. 31, 2020 with embarkation dates from Jan. 1, 2021 to Oct. 31, 2021, now have the flexibility to cancel their cruise 15 days prior to departure.

    then,

Additionally, for all cruises departing through March 31, 2022, cancel up to 61 days prior for a full refund.

I'm guessing it is moving 61 days to 15 days for now unless we hear differently and not the original 48 hours?

I am not sure, but I think they may move you to a different cabin if you test positive, but keep you isolated in your own cabin if you are determined to be a close contact of someone who tested positive.

it is the latter scenario I’m worried about. We come into contact with a lot of people on a cruise. I don’t want to be locked in my cabin for a week because I sat next to the wrong person in a restaurant.

your worry is true in the former and latter, if you test positive, you will also be isolated, just in a different room which could be an upgrade or downgrade.

I checked about a week ago and prices had dropped a bit. It was after final payment so I decided to upgrade to an SC cabin. I have 2 questions. How do you know if you are getting the actual cabin category as from what I saw your choice was "best available" and we were assigned 14168 on the Joy. Second question is, ( I know you will think I am obsessed) I had originally put an upgrade bid on the SC category and the pictures showed it having just a shower. When you go look at it on the reservation it shows a tub/shower combo. I much prefer just the shower as my husband has several artificial joints as well as back issues and I must admit I am no spring chicken and have a hard time with their tub side heights. Has anyone been in this stateroom that can give me reassurance that I didn't make a grave mistake?

here's a video of the room right next to yours, tub/shower combo @ 5 minutes https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/youtube.php?id=11208

Those have been extended to 12/31/22.

I don't think this is the case; I spoke with a normal rep by chat and phone yesterday and spoke with a CruiseNext rep just now.  There has been no extension in additional to the original COVID extension, no extension to 12/31/22...yet.

You can take a bus from outside the Port into town (Centro or the Romantic Zone) and we think of these buses as part of the local culture.  If anyone wants more detail about buses we can post more detailed info, but using taxis/uber makes more sense in this era of COVID.

    Hank

Thank you Hank!  Most of the topics regarding taking the bus to the malecon suggest getting off at the Hotel Rosita and strolling south toward the pier.  Is there a big difference if we take the bus to the Romantic zone and work our way north to the Rosita? Maybe it's just a matter of preference, and Rosita is mentioned because it's an un/official start to the malecon.

Does the bus route end/turn around at the Romantic Zone? I've read perhaps at Parque Lazaro Cardenas?  If not, I guess we could just get off a few blocks after crossing the Rio (assuming storm damaged bridges have been repaired).
