  1. Live on the NCL Getaway out of NYC. When arriving to the cabin today, noticed we only had the first day of excursion tickets, seemed odd.. for around 1 hour until the explanation. Have been keeping an eye on the weather and was worried we might have to leave Bermuda the night of the 3rd due to 50mph gusts+ on April 4, which would have been our third day in Bermuda. Just announced we will only be in Bermuda one day, April 2nd. We will have to leave at 6pm, the same day - April 2nd. They are adding two additional at-sea days, and Nassau Bahamas on April 4th. No credit, but were told we could get 20% off a future cruise with a credit, no sort of on-board compensation. Would be nice if they updated the app, so we could book things out of Bahamas for the 4th. Per another announcement just made, all 2nd and 3rd day excursions will be credited. Would have appreciated some OBC, but I think they're doing their best while trying to keep the stock price alive.
  2. I use the Opal (same company) - these are the ones you want. Currently 15% off so $33 or so before tax. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09N72FMH5/
  3. It'll work great. I use it later at night before sleep to stream Chromecast, etc. to the TV while cruising.
  4. It's actually easier. 1) Connect to router (yours) 2) Choose Repeater, and choose the network you want to clone. On my models (GL-Inet) you'll get to choose granular access points by MAC address and SSID, not just the SSID. This way you won't be trying to reach out to an access point way down the hall, rather a closer one. 4) Select NCL Wifi network 5) Connect off your cloned SSID (eg: My Beryl AX) 6) Go to something like AOL.com to get the captive portal, via your mini router device's MAC address 7) Once logged in you can connect multiple devices. It's up to you how you use your internet. Just log off once you're done sharing, and then re-connect when you need. If you get an unlimited package like I do, I roam around the ship with it connected to my phone, logout when back at room, and connect my setup so my fiance can share. Enjoy!
  5. No, no it doesn't. That would be a 'switch' - not a router. This. If you have the ability to navigate your cable box interface it should be easy. Hearing someone call it 'complicated subterfuge' is just sad.
  6. The person who you replied to was me 😀 I noticed this on the 2nd when making an additional payment, around 6-8 hours before they started sending out memos regarding this and ran to CC to see if anyone knew about it. Had no idea the change was made that day! @RedwingHockeyFan Interesting to know they were selling Spa Rooms on the Joy for a while, I don't even see them on the ship's page, before or after Jan. Only odd because the Getaway and Breakaway show Spa categories, albeit none after Jan 2024 sailings.
  7. The Joy isn't getting a thermal suite until 2024. I think by the time they're finished, while it'll have a Thermal Suite, no rooms that automatically come with it. Good on NCL for honoring existing reservations on this.
  8. Just received official notification with the letter posted earlier for our March, 2024 sailing. Nothing so far about Nov, 2024, but hope they're going in order. Worried by Nov, 2024 staff will forget.
  9. If you're looking to check email and a few websites, shouldn't be an issue. If one of you wants to surf Netflix... may want to get the premium plan and test the GL.iNet solution. Buy one, hook up at house, connect to it's WiFi and browse to https://192.168.8.1. PW is on the device. Once logged in, in repeater mode on the left side click 'Scan' - It will show all WiFi names. Choose your homes and enter the PW. It'll be the same on NCL, except you need to pass through the captive portal once to register your router as the 'device'
  10. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09N72FMH5/ This is my go to, GL.iNet has always been solid. Right now 39.90 with a 10% coupon, under 40 bucks all in with tax. I'll be on the Getaway and Breakway next year, so we'll have a pretty good amount to test with Starlink on board. For newbies setting this up, you essentially plug it in, look for its SSID, connect to the device, then go to it's homepage at https://192.168.8.1/ and scan for NCL or whatever other Wifi you want to repeat. Once you captive portal authenticate, you'll be good. Connect your Chromecast, etc. to the device's WiFi name. EDIT: Also, if your ship still has EMC, use this in tandem with a VPN provider. It works flawlessly. No weird caching.
  11. In this case, the router is the 'device' connected, NCL only sees the MAC (hardware address) of 1 device. Your other device(s) tethered to that they are unable to see. Often use it to Chromecast at hotels, or in this case, only need to buy one full-premium internet subscription. Keep in mind they don't reach well, so this is something that really helps with in the room.
  12. He's still using one device, so yup - paying for every cent he's using. It just happens that device can rebroadcast another SSID. I do the same and GL iNet routers are the best for this.
  13. One interesting thing when I made today's payment was in the verbiage of the summary, it said: Please note, in an effort to provide you with the best Freestyle Cruising experience, we have given you a complimentary upgrade to stateroom 14XXX. It was the same stateroom number as before but my room shows as M9-MA, not just M9. So hopefully there's some distinction that shows you were in their previous 'Spa' rooms, or perhaps you may get an upgrade if you call and let them know your room number disappeared. Didn't know they made this change today, so likely it's why your room number isn't showing, but it's good to know I'm not paying down a cruise with less features than before! (thank you again for the PDF, I booked direct, but nothing)
  14. As of Jan 2 / Jan 7, 2024 - these rooms cease to exist, and therefore, I guess we get grandfathered in for what we paid for already 'complimentary' - despite having paid $220 extra per room (as per today for our March, 2024 Club Balcony Suite.) I honestly don't care what they call it, but thank you @D_And_K_gocruising on something official, this has sunk my feelings the last few hours on how much I'd end up paying extra for our next two cruises, but good on NCL for at least owning up to it. This gave me flashbacks of our last cruise when they told us our Haven Spa Suite wasn't a spa room despite the name of it on the door and the website. Had to work with the concierge and she worked with on-shore people just to get us Thermal Suite access after I showed her their own site. I wonder if they were toying of the idea back then 1+ year ago, but finally went through with it. Thanks again for posting!
  15. I sure hope this is true (they hold to it), and thank you for posting! Nearly had the thought of asking to rebook under a different class after seeing the $220 difference per person and 181 days left to sail.
  16. Article came out before this. I can guarantee that the Joy will not have Spa category rooms, they're removed from the site from boats. https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/getaway/staterooms/spa https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/breakaway/staterooms/spa Within the last week they've added on the top right 'Departing before Jan 07, 2024 | Departing on or after Jan 07, 2024' No more Spa rooms on either boats after. What I'm really curious about is what happens to people like myself who've had reservations for month with H9 (Haven Spa Suite) and M9 (Club Balcony Spa Suite) that have been switched without any notice.
  17. Please keep us updated, I'm gutted our 'sure thing' vacations for 2024 are now going to cost 1,000+ more, likely per cruise because my wife loves the spa.
  18. They changed my cabin name and style. On their site it says for cruises after Jan 2 / Jan 7, 2024, there are no such things as spa rooms. Sadly it's not as printed anymore since they changed me from M9 to MA. I'm sure they'll strip the site soon but keep this URL: https://web.archive.org/web/20230208032042/https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/cruise-accommodations/spa-cruise
  19. Yeah it seems they make changes on the website, then expect people, even including agents and employees wonder. This is an upsell opportunity for them, it's just really lousy that I booked two specific rooms for 2024 cruises, saving up, paying off monthly, and realize today the spa privileges are no longer included. I can guarantee it won't be honored for existing guests. On our last cruise 1+ year ago, the spa and staff were sure I didn't have a spa room. I had to show them in person (it said Spa Room on our door) on a printout that our Haven room was infact a 'Spa Haven' room. Only after 1 day, and The Haven concierge getting in touch with land were we granted rights to the Thermal Spa. Now it's gone it seems.
  20. NCL is removing spa rooms from cruises. When going to make a payment today for our cruise in March, I see our room category has changed from Spa Club Balcony Suite to just Balcony Suite and a different number. Our honeymoon cruise in Nov 2024 no longer has The Haven Spa Suite with Balcony either, they switched us to 'The Haven Penthouse Suite with Balcony' When I checked the room pages they show now for Breakaway, 'Departures before Jan 07, 2024' have Spa rooms, including Club Balcony Suite, Baclony, and The Haven, On our Getaway ship, they've stripped all club rooms starting Jan 02, 2024 This is some major BS as someone who booked these two rooms for the spa privelges, when I could've just purchased it onboard separately. Really shoddy service and way to treat people with existing reservations, shame on NCL.
  21. It is indoors vs. outside on Sunny Florida days, maybe it was the sun. Always seemed more formal than Vibe, YMMV.
  22. You may hear music depending how loud it is from the main pool area faintly, but no music inside. We found while the Vibe was quiet, no fight for chairs, there was often banter between people enough to not keep things silent. When we got back on from port one day, the entire bar looked to be filled with people there all having a great time. No worry about it being a silent library feeling, unless it's the first day of a February cruise... We're honestly worried on our honeymoon cruise that The Haven (indoor bar) will be too quiet and is actually more like a library than Vibe, which is more like a small VIP part of the ship with people who like to drink. The Haven is where you meet people for pre-dinner cocktails and it was a stuffy 40-50+ crowd. At 31 and 34 we were the youngest couple when it came time for the party to meet the captain. I would definitely suggest Vibe now we're back to full capacity cruising, and if I can ever pay off our next Haven Cruise, I'll be adding Vibe as soon as I can. The Vibe on Getaway is MUCH larger than I've seen online, the videos often show just one side of it. If you look at my picture above it's often the not shown side with a lot more seating. It's more like a 75% complete circle (25% is Haven / off limits) behind doors. When we went to the front of the ship of the Vibe, far away from the bar, it was just us, and quiet.
  23. Loved it. Introduced me to room service, I felt like Kevin McCallister from Home Alone, but with free sandwiches. I was around 12, with family. It was in it's golden days, when it was in painted blue and did Canada and New England from NYC before Premier found themselves under water in debt. Amazing cruise and it's surreal seeing pictures of myself in SS Seabreeze gear, or dressed formally in their dining room.
  24. I'd have to agree. Didn't figure it out in time and had to do it at $249/pp due to only 5 or so of them, but was there almost daily on the same cruise, and Kev's service was great. He was the only person we filled out a form for in terms of being a vacation star. For an extra $89 we would have killed for the privacy of the full cabana, so goo call on that. Did you guys get fruit and any other service? We got fruit skewers maybe twice through the week, but the drinks were always flowing, and we got to know the bartenders. They're cutting corners but the staff's doing their best especially when they run at full capacity.
  25. So they didn't allow us in the first area that said Priority at the front of the terminal and assured us there was Priority at the end of the terminal. Then at that 'Priority' check-in we were still given Group Number 6 for boarding. From a previous post, we knew to listen for us around the Sapphire, Platinum, etc. members, but the announcer never made it. Went right from the highest tiers to group 1. I asked and showed Priority Access printout to someone who said "they should have announced you already" and told us just to go with group 1. Between that and not being allowed to stack 20% gold discount with the $50 gratuity for in port days, I wouldn't purchase it again. It seems like a rushed out program that was poorly communicated to any of the people actually involved in the process. I had some illusion they would actually give some priority to people. We got $4.95 not charged on days we choose breakfast, $50 off per person after explaining how NCL's phone support let us down, and yellow luggage tags I would've gotten already. I'm more angry how piss poor the internet is on the ship. Once out of the tri-state area the satellite is worthless unless you have something like OpenVPN to smooth the duplicate packets out. Bonded Starlink can't come to these ships soon enough.
