  1. My DH is looking at a cruise on voyager.  Suite 967 was available. It is aft on the starboard side of the ship. I have read about the vibrations in the penthouse suites that run across the back of the ship. This cabin is a D  concierge the second from the back.  Is this cabin also subject to the same vibrations.  I recall reading that they have worked on this problem but the vibrations are still an issue.  Does anyone

    have knowledge of this location.

  2. I’m not going to rehash what everyone has been writing about this ship. Surfice it to say that we won’t be sailing her again. However, DH just finished the photo album from this cruise and noticed something weird.  Key cards have never had cabin numbers on them before. But this one had the last 3 numbers printed on the card. Edge cabins don’t have the floor printed on them, just the last 3 numbers. Doesn’t seem safe to me.  Anyone have any thoughts on this.

  3. I have been trying very hard to keep an open mind about this ship. But the lack of bars on edge is probably the last straw. We sail on January 13. Eden as it’s been described doesn’t appeal to me. It seems that it is the most convenient venue to Blu for a pre dinner drink.  We’ve done about 48 or 49 cruises since 1983. Mostly once a year until we retired 5 yrs ago when we started doing 4-5 a year. If Celebrity doesn’t want our business we’ll go elsewhere. There is no shortage of other options. I’m just annoyed that we booked this so long ago that we had no idea that they were changing the experience so drastically. I will never again book a new ship until I understand what it’s about.

Can you be specific? The sample menu on the web site still shows the Jacques Pepin Signature dishes. Of these, the filet and the salmon always are served with sauces on the side. The roast chicken is served in its own roasting juices.  Of the remaining entrees on the menu, only the snapper mentions a cream sauce. The other sauces -- for the duck and the prime rib -- aren't cream sauces either. So how did your experience differ from the sample menu (link below)?

The Jacque signature items are the same. The problem was they were the simplist things on the menu. Mostly everything else was as I said heavily sauced, stuffed with cheese and or cream.  This was not the food I was expecting.  Very disappointing.

  5. This was our third O cruise but it has been about 3 years since the last one. The ship is lovely. The entertainment was an improvement from our previous experiences. However I found the food too heavy for my tastes. Everything was stuffed with cheese or in a cream sauce which often could not be served on the side. Explanation given was “it’s coked in the sauce”.  I don’t recall this being an issue on our previous O cruises.  A friend recently sailed Rivera and I’d given her glowing details about the food. She expressed disappointment in the food when she returned. I chalked it up to “different strokes...” but think now that she was right on.  The only truly excellent meals I has were in Red Ginger and they were superb.

  6. We had lovely servers and stewards and entertainers and maitre d's etc etc, etc on our recent cruise. But all of us (group of six) were annoyed by the constant pleading on the last three days of our cruise, to "rate them a 10" on the comment survey. I had to actually say to our waiter "we get it, we get it, you have said it many times, we will rate you a 10". It is as though they will be fired if we do NOT complete the survey, and God forbid give the service an 8?

If that is actually the case, shame on Celebrity for making it so. Otherwise, hell, stop it already.

Are we alone in being a little annoyed by this?

We have been cruising since 1983. We’ve heard this pitch every time. Rarely have we had any complaints so we give them what they ask for. It’s not the staffs fault, they are repeating what they’re told to say. I believe they are penalized if they don’t get top ratings. I don’t wait for the survey if I have a real complaint, I speak with a manager of the department in question.

  7. Has anyone read wether the cabins on edge use the interlocking configuration that was used on all S class ships. Seems to me that the interlocking configuration would make the extra space concept minimal if the bed is by the balcony rather than by the bathroom. My DH needs space to do stretching excersizes which are impossible to do in S class cabins due to lack of floor space. We are booked on Edge in mid January. I thought the infinity would make this possible, but I never thought of the alternating cabin setup. I guess we’ll find out. All pix I’ve seen show the bed by the bathroom givin an expansive look to the space.

  8. We were on seaside in the Yacht Club at the end of August. Agree with your assessments. Food in YC was mostly mediocre with a few highlights. The lobster was excellent, a huge improvement from Divina. Asked the Pepe the matre’d what had happened to the fabulous Italian food we’d experienced on Divina and he said he didn’t have the ability to change the menu which comes from corporate. One night he made us a terrific pasta dish that came to the table piping hot, which means everything else was sitting on a steam table before being served. The meats were all served drowned in sauces and we’re too salty with not much other taste. Learned quickly to order the sauce on the side. The steak in butchers cut was perfectly prepared. The sushi at Roy’s we had for lunch on sea days when it was open for lunch was perfect. The white wines available in the top sail lounge were not very good. I tried all of them. You can by them locally for $8 a bottle. I don’t recall that being an issue on Divina. The physical set up of the yacht club is beautiful. The cabins are very roomy, with a deep balcony lots of storage and a beautiful bathroom. All service staff were very accommodating and delightful. We had a good time and met some nice people. There is still no real shade on the pool deck but staff tried really hard to place chairs in odd places and would move them when needed. Didn’t care for the layout of the rest of the ship, too many dead ends, very confusing. We preferred the layout of Divina. I think this is still a work in progress.

  9. Thanks for the reply. I was looking for a makeup mirror in the room not in the bathroom. I’m spoiled I’m used to doing my make up seated at a vanity. No biggie I’ll use the desk and bring a make up mirror with me.

  10. Sorry can't answer your questions but have a question for you. I guess I can assume from your question there is no sushi in the YC buffet or restaurant? Sushi is probably a la carte so no way to buy a package that would be worthwhile if that is my only interest specialty restaurant

I’m assuming it is a la carte. Sorry we can’t answer your ax. We’ve only done one other MSC cruise and that was on Divina in the Yacht Club. There was no Roy’s and I Never went into the buffet.

  11. Does anyone know if Roy’s is open for lunch. We are mostly interested in having sushi there for lunch, possibly also one dinner in the Asian Market Kitchen. We will be on Seaside August 25 we will be sailing in the Yacht Club for the 2nd time. We did it about 3 years ago on Divina.
