  1. Please, if you have experienced parking at terminal 3 and had requested wheelchair assistance to board the Mardi Gras, is assistance available in the parking lot or will I have to walk across to the terminal to get wheelchair assistance?  Is parking on the walkway level available to those with handicap placards?  TIA

  2. Thanks for your review.  I will be on Magic to Bermuda end of September.  Am worried because my sister and I are  travelling with 83 year old mom.  She will be picking up a rental mobility scooter.  I have requested wheelchair assist for me.  Don't know if anyone can tell me if there is a separate entrance for people with mobility issues at Pier 88 Manhattan.

  3. 20+ years ago I used to bring a blender on the cruise with me.  Be prepared for your luggage to be searched at the airport because of the metal blades in the blender.  It's possibly more likely now after 911 that someone will question the blender when it passes through x-ray machine, either at the airport or the ship terminal.

  4. Does anyone know if we can reconfigure the set up of the beds in a suite.  I know on older ships we have split the beds and reconfigured so they were at a 90 degree angle to each other (one facing N/S, the other E/W along the wall)  We are traveling 3 in a spa suite (not accessible) on the Magic and mom will have a mobility scooter.  Trying to determine if we will have enough room to shift the beds to make more room in the center of the cabin for the scooter.  Thanks!

  5. So even if you are renting a mobility scooter from Carnival approved Scootaround, you still need to file the Carnival mobility questionnaire?   This is the first time we rented scooter for my 83 yr old mom for Bermuda cruise from NY so I want to make sure we do things correctly.  My sister and I secretly upgraded our stateroom to a spa suite to surprise mom and so we would have extra room for the scooter.

Has anyone used a scooter rental out of New York?  Carnival states the scooter could be left in the cabin but when I ordered it I was told pick it up outside the terminal.  Mom can walk a bit but gets tired easily.  I know embarkation can get busy and was wondering if it is easier to get wheelchair assist and just get the scooter delivered to the room.

      Any help is appreciated.🛳️

  6. Sorry if this has been asked before.  Does anyone know if we have 3 people (sisters and mom) booked on a cruise mid October....if one person cancels out (mom) and the other 2 of us wait until our final payment date to decide what to do.....If Carnival does cancel before our final payment...will they let me take  my $ paid towards this cruise (deposit and $300 worth of gift cards so far)  as FCC (&OBC) to use on a booked cruise I have late Feb 2021 with my husband  and my sister take the full refund?  Or does everyone in the cabin have to choose the same option?

  7. Have a mid October cruise to Bermuda we booked 11 months ago.  The 3rd passenger is our 80 year old mom.   My sister and I are willing to chance that it will still sail but I do not think mom will risk it.   If she cancels now, she loses nothing.  Our final payment date is beginning of August.    However I was wondering if anyone has had a situation where the 3rd person cancelled and then wanted to be ADDED BACK ON when it got closer to the sail date.  Since there are already no cruises until Sept 30th and our specific cruise is no longer listed as an option to book (the only Sunshine cruise still listed in Oct is a short cruise to the Bahamas on Oct 8th) I wonder if we do end up trying to add her back in the cabin(if the cruise doesn't get cancelled)  if Carnival will say no because they are trying to control capacity on the ship.  Any thoughts or advice?

If you are OK with three in a room, the Indigo Inn has rooms with two queen size beds - about $200 per night - including afternoon snacks and a great breakfast. Easy walk to anywhere in historic district.   I did the “three in a room” there on one of our stays.

If it doesn’t work this time, keep it in mind for your next visit - and try “High Cotton” for a great dinner.

Thanks!  I will check both suggestions out

Of course they cost more, but hotels in the historic area give you a chance to really enjoy that beautiful old city- rather than hanging out at some motel on the highway.   Think about spending a bit more - to get a lot more out of your trip.

With 3 adults in a room the options in downtown, especially the cute, historic places I'd love to stay, just don't have the room necessary for us.  And with the higher cost we wouldn't be getting 2 rooms to accommodate us.  Certainly if I ever travel back there with just my hubby I will take your advice!  Thanks

I haven't stayed at either of these as I live here, but the HI will give you a better view of downtown.  Will you have a car or are you going to be using taxi/uber or something?  Neither one is really close (walking distance) to anything touristy.  Hard to tell you of things to do as we don't know what your interests are.  There is the Yorktown, Ft Sumter, the plantations, the city market and so on.  If you want the downtown stuff you might want to find a hotel in the historic district downtown, you'll pay more but will be in walking distance to many things. (I am assuming your mom is mobile as you didn't say otherwise).   There are a few threads in this section with stuff to do here, just scroll and find them. (not trying to be a schmuck, it's just that not much has changed.)   Hopefully by Oct everything will be fully back to normal.  I know the last couple months when I get home for my days off I have been bored to tears sitting at home.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT.   I should have been more detailed in my question.  HI has a free shuttle to downtown that leaves you downtown and also has a free shuttle to the port so that may sway our choice. HI reviews aren't as good but I see on their website they have recently refurbished the hotel.    Downtown hotels are expensive and leave much to be desired if you are trying to get 3 adults in one room.

  11. hoping to be sailing in October out of Charleston.   3 people, one being my 80 yr old mom.  Holiday Inn riverview or Cambria Riverview?  If you have any recommendations for hotels or things to do in Charleston as we will have a partial and one full day there before our cruise

  12. does anyone know if the showers on the ship have safety bars?  I know some of the newer ships have them built in.  Wondering if Sunshine has them, and if so if they are only in the New cabins that were created when the ship went from Destiny to Sunshine...or if they are in all showers.   thanks

  13. 1986 Carnivale  Me, my hubby of one year, my sister & brother.  4 in a cabin and you could sh*t, shower and shave all at the same time in the "bathroom".  We were lucky enough to have a port hole.  I remember paying cash at the bar.  Beer drinking, pillow fighting, male nightgown contest.  Free rum punch welcome party, captain's cocktail party, dressing up on formal night.  We met so many fun people, including someone a few years older than us , who went to the same small H.S. we did.  I remember standing on deck singing our school's fight song!  Been hooked since.   I just passed my 25th Carnival cruise and am creeping up on Diamond status.

  14. Realize that if they offer 50% off, they still have to make a profit on it. Jewelry can be marked up so much they could offer you 75%off and still make a profit.  (I work in a jewelry store)   If you have the capability to google & compare prices for (example) a ''14kt gold tanzanite ring'' you should.   Buying jewelry is an emotional response.  If you absolutely love it, buy it.  But realize most times jewelry on board or even on the islands are priced so the salesperson can make you ''an offer you can't refuse'' by offering XX% off the price.

I would love to see some outstanding discounts for long time Carnival cruisers...We are the ones that have stuck with them and helped them stay The Fun Ships for all of these years...I love my Carnival 🥰 show me some love back😍.

OH yes.  Wouldn't it be sweet if they offered...if you first sailed with Carnival in 1972-1979  50%  1980-1989  40% off   1990-1999  30% off   2000-2009 20% off  2010-2019 10% off.  It might be hard to prove you sailed in the 70's & 80's and they would have to maybe qualify  that you have sailed X amount of times to get the discount  OR offer the discount on specialty dining or something else!

  16. the one thing they won't bring back: The Male Nightgown Contest.   Funny how back in the mid 80's this was a regular feature and now , in a more accepting time when drag queens, etc. are part of pop culture, they would not bring this hilarious contest back for fear of offending someone.    Glad I started sailing in the days of male vs female beer chugging, pillow fights,  male nightgown contest,  pool games, etc.

  17. I am a bit confused as Carnival lists our ship as docking at 10AM...and a tour guide I am  hiring for Bermuda says we are listed at 10AM BERMUDA time  which is one hour ahead of FL time.  SO anyone recently on Sunshine from Charleston to Bermuda, can you let me know if ships time remained on Florida time or pushed ahead to Bermuda time.
