On a recent Beyond cruise it was plastic for basic and glass for premium. They used to have aluminum bottles, but was told people were cutting themselves on them, so they stopped using them.

I think they "feel" smaller...the bathroom is definitely tiny.

English is the official maritime language. Now that doesn't mean every staff member is going to speak fluent English, but any leadership position must be able to speak English.
-
VV tries to avoid using plastics, obviously plastic can never be completely avoided, but bringing plastic ducks onboard a VV ship seems extremely counter productive.

Correct, 3 out of the 4 are non smoking...
Strange, my previous three Beyond sailings were just the one. Maybe its a special cigar sailing, so its increased to make room for the the cigar smokers?

It is actually 3 out of 4 sections, at least for this sailing.

"I’m a little disappointed that most of the terraced area of the Sunset Bar is smoking though. I would have thought it’d be in a smaller section on the other side of the bar."
The smoking section is 1 of 4 small sections on the starboard side, near the aft of the ship. The port side aft of the ship does not have a smoking section. The sunset bar is directly aft. There are three small smoking sections on E-class ships. The entire rest of the ship is non smoking including the casino.

Do it. You all will have a great time. Overnight in Ibiza, they will love it.

I'm not familiar with In the Know....but I have twice transferred from Cap1 and Chase to Virgin flying club and the points were in my Virgin Red account as well.

And here we go again, another Celebrity thread way off topic on page 1.

As others have mentioned Virgin may be a better option.

Excellent review, I personally love Beyond.
Nice to see the lounger on the balcony, I was on Beyond in March in a sunset veranda and there was not a lounger, did not ask for one either. The loungers on the balcony seems to be the "latest crisis" on Celebrity ships.

I’m interested as well. I have this booked as of now (different sailing dates) and you bring up great questions. Google maps helped me figure out where one of the beaches is, and it appears to be somewhat close to a “restaurant” food building. Following along, hoping someone has some experience on this excursion.

For the May 19th-26th Irresistible Med & Rome cruise, it shows where we arrive in port at 8:00 am. For those who have cruised VV, do you know if we are able to disembark exactly at 8:00? Doesn't have to be specific to this particular port, but I'm trying to gauge if the ship arrives early, can we sometimes disembark earlier? I've booked a private transfer from the port to Vatican City and I am trying to make sure I give them the right time. Ideally I'd like to be off asap to make a tour I've booked at the Vatican. I'm going to call VV today, but thought I'd check here also.
Not sure why calling VV is something you even consider, they literally have zero control over a ships arrival and departure, the local authorities, or the weather. Because you have a non VV excursion, you are actually going to most likely be closer to last off the ship.

I had a bit of a hiccup trying to book with my access key, long story short, for some reason I had a First Mate (travel agent) attached to my account (have never used a TA) and because of that the access key did not clear out the price and I had to call Virgin to get the TA off my account and get my access key to work. Yay, all booked!!

I had sushi for lunch at raw on 5 when I was on the beyond in March. Not impressed so skipped it on my Ascent cruise a couple weeks ago. I get better tasting sushi from my local grocery store with better presentation. Also, service was slow.
Tried Raw on 5 on Beyond in March, with my non sushi eating family members and it was excellent. The non sushi eating family members couldn't get enough. 🥂

IMO the filet at Rooftop is better than Fine Cut, every time for me. I usually always go to Fine Cut because I love a filet, but will be doing another Rooftop instead on my next cruise.

Kinda like the folks who say they won $1000 on a machine, but forget to mention they put $5000 into it for it to spit out $1000 😂

Looks like Scarlet Lady docked at The World Trade Centre this morning, I was under the impression that Barcelona was banning large cruise ships from this terminal… Do you have any info if it will be home porting there all summer? I ask, because if so I will book the hotel there pre cruise in August. Thanks. Safe travels home.

IMO Celebrity’s current deposit policy is pretty pathetic, minimum of $500 for non refundable and thousand/s extra for a refundable deposit. Obviously there are exceptions, but very few. You can re-book a non refundable for a per person fee of $100.
What originally caused me to book my first Celebrity cruise was their completely different web address dedicated to non refundable deposits, it had a different price structure for cruises with non refundable (a great value back then IMO). In a sense I guess it’s similar now, in that you can pay thousand/s more for refundable. Anyhoo. 🥂

Debating on whether to return to town as I have about three hours before dinner.
I just spent the last hour or so stalking @laurieal on deck seeing if i could see her. In reality, this is the first time i’ve been in port with another ship where I knew when she was leaving. Because laurieal posted her cruise compass 😆. Anyways, I could check out if she had pier runners.
On another note as I’ve spent a little significant time on this deck right now, our pool is TINY.
I didn’t realize there was an even smaller portion that was any reasonable depth. No belly flop contests on this ship.
Here’s the other wading pool.
The "pools" are more of a water feature. 😂

Chase to Virgin Atlantic (same as Virgin Red) currently has a 30% bonus.

My sister "had" a similar issue with pepper on cruises. Over several cruises the "I don't want pepper on anything" began to change to "please don't over pepper anything" She has began to discover a little pepper on food can be a good thing.
