Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Awesome. That was what we were hoping but I wanted to make sure before we planned on it! Thank you both!
  2. We are about two weeks out from our first Viking cruise (ocean), and I’m wondering if anyone has had this scenario before. I’ve done a search but can’t find anything concrete, although I haven’t been able to find a way to phrase the situation well so I may have missed an answer in a previous thread. If you are in port for two days and you have an early embarkation time, are you able to go through embarkation, drop your bags off, and then leave the ship to do some exploring in port on the first day? When you come back do you go through the regular embarkation line again, or is there a separate area for people to board who have already been on the ship? Thanks!
  3. I have interpreted the rule to be that if you have received your initial vaccine doses (or single J&J dose) more than 270 days before you enter a country, you have to have received a booster shot prior to being admitted. Initially I read it as having to receive a booster dose within 270 days of arriving, regardless of whether you already had a booster or not. It’s very confusing, but I have read a few things that seem to gel with my current interpretation. Additionally, right now second boosters are only recommended for those over 50 or severely immuno-compromised, and we don’t fall into either of those categories. I can’t see countries requiring additional boosters (so a second one or more) at this point when it’s not recommended for everyone. Granted this is just my interpretation, and I have not been to Europe since Covid hit so don’t just take my word for it
  4. Sleep7, this thread was a treasure trove of information for me! We are heading on our 1st Viking cruise at the end of the year with a decent amount of port overlap and had been curious about excursions and the like. Thank you so much for all the detailed information! I have a couple questions regarding the hair dryer for you though. What type of hair do you have? I have very thick, wavy hair that is a nightmare to try and style and have been worried about how to manage it on our trip. We’re doing pre and post cruise stays on our own and I’ve read to many horror stories about people having chunks of their hair burned off when using their normal US styling tools in European hotels. I’m debating what to do but if the hair dryer will actually work somewhat decently with my hair that might be a game changer.
