  1. We just spent two weeks on St. Martin. The first time we went to Friar's Bay was the day after a big rain and we turned around and left, the pond and neighborhood water drained into the beach and it wasn't appealing. The next week we tried it again and had a lovely day at Friars and were able to snorkel from the shore. However, I would not recommend it for a cruise ship stop for the reasons everybody keeps giving you, remote, no taxis, and IMO just not really worth it. Take a look at Captain Frenchy's on Grand Case beach. They have free chairs, delicious food and we were there on a cruise ship day and it was still quiet. Have you checked the cruise ship schedule, are you the only ship in port?

  2. We just got off of the Equinox on Monday morning and we found the celebrity club hostess to be harsh in her delivery of the rules. We had the drink package so really had no reason to go to the Elite happy hour except to mingle and the view. On the last night dh had packed his long pants and he unknowingly showed up at the venue with nice walking shorts and was turned away. It was the way we were accosted at the door and her rudeness that was so very offensive, not the rule itself.

Also, on other ships we have attended the helipad event in sandals but on the Equinox they were allowing only closed toe shoes. We missed two helipad events because it was a Caribbean cruise and I did not travel with closed toe shoes. I could have borrowed one pair of my husbands Keens and attended but would have looked like an idiot so didn't bother.

  3. We have cruised on the Allure twice now. The first time we were on deck 11 and were happy with that. This time we were on deck 7 port side very close to the aft elevators and much preferred that location. It was such an easy trek down one flight for coffee and doughnut on the boardwalk in the morning and up one flight for central park. Everything was convenient.

We made note to always use the port side elevators or stairs when heading to our cabin and I never had an issue. My husband made the mistake only once and had to go down, over, and up to get to our cabin.

  4. I always contact special needs and request a medical refrigerator and 9 times out of 10 it's not there when we get to our cabin. Our last cruise it was actually in the room and I was thrilled that they finally followed through until I later realized it was broken.

I would plan on bringing my medication on board in a small insulated pack with enough ice to last several hours.
