Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Sometimes- depending in which way all is organised - there is only one looong line of people...in this case I asked the staff in charge where to go as I am platinum...in most cases they let me pass downstairs to the tenders immediately. I remember only one time where there was a line for priority and a line for people with tender tickets.
  2. When I was on NCL last year in summer I asked at the shore excursions desk and as I was Platinum I did NOT need a tender ticket but you normally just can skip the line by showing your ship's card with your Latitudes level. I would just try that.... Happy Cruising!
  3. I have just come back from my cruise on the Costa Smeralda. I had a balcony cabin and I used the room service for breakfast every morning. There is a good selection of quality breakfast food on the menu and you can avoid the chaotic buffet for only 5 Euros per dayπŸ‘πŸ» I enjoyed that a lot and preferred to spend time on my balcony. They even bring you a red rose with your roon service breakfast. I am a diamond/sapphire RCCL and NCL cruiser and this was my first time on Costa - no tier level, complete newbie.πŸ˜„ I learned a lot of "new things" on my week with Costa....in case you have questions feel free to ask meπŸ˜‰ I will try to answer...
  4. I think that the premium cabins have the breakfast delivery to the cabin included. But you can only order continental breakfast if you want no delivery charge. So the "first breakfast" means that premium cabins have "priority" because they can cet continental breakfast room service for free. Happy cruising!😊
  5. I know I know.... California rolls are one of the foods I can eat though... I have some food allergies and so also my selection on a small cruise ship are often limited. I eat what I can...😜ThatΛ‹s why I totally understand your food issue on the Star and how you may feel.
  6. Hi again, Yvonnne, I just wanted to recommend some food to you that maybe is worth a try. If you have another latitudes coupon left, I would go to Cagneys apart from the fact that you are vegetarian. On every NCL ship I have been on, the best food was at Cagneys. I reall recommed to you two starters, the Iceberg Wedge and the Beefsteak Tomato, they are amazing! And afterwards I would just order ALL the sides. Especially mushrooms and the grilled asparagus, the truffle fries, the grilled veggies and so on ....sooo yummyπŸ‘πŸ˜‰ I can't wait to get there!
  7. Yvonne, may I just ask you if you have already tried the Sushi (vegetarian) at Ginza? Because I love California Rolls...☺️ Yes, I agree, the loungers at the spa would also break my back but I guess maybe I would just stay in the pool for a while every evening or so but I thought that I prefer to invest the money elsewhere. Oh, and I read in an other thread that someone said the library on the Star was really a nice place...
  8. In April we went to Amber Cove on the Encore instead of Taino. I have no experience with Taino Bay but I loved Amber Cove. Beautiful place with a lot of beautiful nature, great photo spots, relaxing hammocks, nice views and you can of course use the pool etc there. They also have good shops there, everything is modern, the food is good and you can basically book all the excursions like in Taino Bay. I would definitely love to come back ..πŸ‘πŸ˜Š
  9. The pretzel rolls are really sad to watch. Someone already has mentioned it before - they look as if they have gotten wet before and then warmed up in the oven again or maybe they were frozen before.... Anyway besides cruising NCL for 18 years now I have also been on 2 MSC cruises in the recent past and believe me foodwise in can get worse ...😜 On my last cruise in April 23 on the Encore I have already noticed that the free food options are on the way down. I constantly felt that they want to save money. I really hope that in the future they will not become like MSC is - beautiful beautiful ships without heart and cheapish food on the buffet....πŸ˜” In December we will cruise Royal again and hope they will "deliver the WOW"πŸ˜„... but as I read on the RCCL boards there seem to be problems with the food as well recently.
  10. Sooo sorry for you that the food seems to be not good at all. πŸ˜” The photos of La Cucina somehow really shocked me😱 The food looks absolutely not delicious at all. My fiancee is Italian and we are already worried that we have booked La Cucina. But last year on the Jewel in Alaska La Cucina was a great choice. Unluckily even your mozzarella and tomato pic looks underwhelming...πŸ€ͺ...as if the pieces were cut by a 5 year old child... Thank you so much for writing a letter of complaint. Maybe they can improve the food until our August 4 cruise?!πŸ€” In case of emergency we will follow your strategy and eat Icelandic cinnamon bunsπŸ˜‰πŸ‘πŸ»
  11. The Icelandic Phallological Museum?!πŸ‘πŸ˜„ Very cool! And it was a teacher who collected all the stuff inside the museum... he said "Someone just had to do it." πŸ‘πŸ˜‰
  12. The tour is called "Reindeer feeding and Sami cultural experience"...I think it might be great to get so close to the reindeers.
  13. WOW!!πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰ This looks like an amazing plan!πŸ‘ I am personally sooo happy to see this because I am a teacher as well and I always prepare the same kind of "poster sized schedules"πŸ˜ƒ and putting them on the cabin wall with magnets. My boyfriend always says "You are soooooo much a teacher!"☺️(Of course he is lucky that someone is making great plans for the vacation...) Anyway, Yvonne, I can't wait to read about your cruise starting on Sunday...We will join you on August 4 in Tromso. By the way I found out that GetYourGuide offers a 4 hours excursion in Tromso that is called "Feeding reindeers". I really wanted to do that as I love all kinds of excursions where you can see or touch animals. But....finally I did not dare to book it as there "is no real toilet stop because the forest is the toilet"😜 That was a bit tooo outdoorsy for me..... Happy Sailing Sue
