Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I just asked that question last week with the concierge team. I was told that we can get off the ship at 7am if we let the staff know that we need to disembark early. We made reservations to be picked up at 7:15. We are not going to the Rome airport. We are going to spend two days in Rome but have a tour starting at 1:15 and wanted to get checked in to the hotel early, eat lunch, and buy metro tickets without being rushed. Google maps suggest that this could be up to a 2 hour drive since it is rush hour but it's only like 45 miles. The airport drive may miss most of that traffic so you may have a much quicker drive.
  2. We are booked on Lufthansa and Air Canada for our trip to Rome.
  3. Why do I feel like our family is one of the few that are scared to death of being stranded in Rome when we cruise? We would love to cruise without masks, but we can't miss more work after this cruise is over or throw away lots of money on hotels/food etc. while quarantining. I guess many of the 70% not wearing masks could be other Europeans that don't have to be tested to get home, but Americans are risking a big delay home if they get COVID. We had friends get stranded in Belize and it cost them thousands of dollars and most of their remaining vacations days at work.
  4. This is a a big deal as we have all private tours in these ports, and it will require a ton of work to make adjustments including new ferry/train times etc. This doesn't seem reasonable that we are seeing these changes just 12 days before we sail. Not a good look for NCL. One port would be disappointing but four???
  5. If we are all being honest, the Butler is the most overrated thing in cruising. There just isn't that much for the butler to do besides bring food. That's why so many keep asking different variations of this question on these boards. It sounds cool, but not very practical. We had a butler at the St. Pancras Renaissance. He carried our luggage from the hotel and got us first on the Eurostar for our trip to Paris. That is a great service to offer. But I'm mostly hearing about non-stop candy and cookies coming to the room. Seeing picture of M&Ms and gummy bears in my luxurious suite in the Haven doesn't do much for me. If I'm paying thousands of dollars for a great room and food, why would I load up on cheap candy? Just the opinion of one.
  6. We are considering the Spirit for a cruise next year and know very little about this cruise line.
  7. We've had enough of cruise excursions run by the ship where you feel like cattle riding on buses and moving at a snails pace. Also, in many cases we can do a private tour for the price of an NCL tour. Are you doing something on your own? What are you most excited about?
  8. Can this be done and will a person be charged extra? Also, I've read some people say that you can be brought a dessert from a specialty restaurant if you are a Haven guest eating in the Haven restaurant. Is there an extra charge for this?
