  1. Hi all, on the Getaway on Oct 2nd. We have 2 girls coming with us and are in 12304, aft penthouse suite. We planned to put both girls - no choice really, on the sleeper sofa in the living room. But I am starting to have a little panic attack now that this sofa might be super small??? They are 10 and 13, not little kids. Can anyone tell me how big this sofa is and if it will be okay for two kids? Thanks so much!!!

  2. We book Loews from suggestions here and got a great rate!!!! Room is kind of small for four people.....but we will make do with the great location. Probably wont eat at the hotel, looks extremely expensive but will head out and search out cheaper and decent meals!

  3. We were there 3 years ago and it was super quiet and really nice.....I read on the boards here that it has gotten extremely busy and especially on a day when two cruise ships are in, as will be the case when we are back there this upcoming October....eek. I had made reservations again for us and our two kids but now I am very wary.......they say now they can take up to 400 people, omg!! I don't think there were more than 40 or 50 the day we were there and it was lovely......

May move on to a Plan B......

  4. thank you to everyone who has posted all of this! I was at LFK three years ago and it was super quiet ....only about 40 people!!! Was an awesome day! Now it sounds soooooo busy and crowded, that scares me! We are booked to go there this October but will check cruise ship schedule first.....maybe re-think our plans! I have been to both places mentioned here and liked them both!!!

  5. WOW!!! this post is worth sooo much more then just .02 cents...!! you hit the nail right on the head...every word you wrote is the truth..yes you pay a little bit more here is a great breakdown: your cost is $500 PP for the week...so $500 / 7 days = $71 dollars per day additional...the breakfast and dinner alone in the Haven Restaurant is worth more then that!!! the full comped Haven Breakfast was our absolute favorite!!! so lets go further: $71 dollars a day / 24 hours = about 3 dollars an hour additional...we can go further but you see where im going with this...

Lets say you ...last minute... you decide you and spouse want to see a comedy show as you are walking by the already long line of those who dont have tickets....you reach into your purse and grab your cordless phone (provided to all Haven guests) and ring the concierge...you explain that you want to see the sold out show that starts in 15 mins...and your concierge happens to find 2 more seats for the "sold out" show...and now you are on the list...just show your Haven cruise card to the host. entry granted. its that simple. we did this this past march on BA...or lets say you walk up to taste or savor...and they say...its gonna be a 40 min wait tonight...and you hand her your Haven room key and the Hostess quickly apologizes for her misgivings and ushers you and your party to a reserved dining table as 3 waiters greet your arrival.

And let us not forget when you belly up to a packed/ crowded public pool bar that is 3 people deep and the wait could take 15 mins to get acknowledged...you hold your haven card so the bartender sees it and the bartenders point to you and ask...what can i get you...

All of these examples happened to me on my 3/6/16 Breakaway cruise.

    It. Was. Delightful.

    Best, Mark

Wow......reading these two posts made my day.....this is EXACTLY why I love the suite/haven life!!!! We have always had incredible service and the extra money we paid to be part of that was well well worth it!!! So looking forward to the Haven in October!!! My BF and his daughter have never cruised before but my daughter and I have a lot......so they get to start cruising in the Haven, not too shabby! They have nothing to compare it to lol!!!! I think they will be suitably impressed by it......

  6. They can be applied to a suite, I did that for my upcoming Haven sailing. However they do not count as full deposit for a suite. You have to make up the difference between the certificate and the full deposit to book the cabin.

They do sell a suite version (for a lot more) that does count as full deposit for a suite.

    Thank you!!

  7. Susan...Take the plunge...IT. IS. WORTH. EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY.

its something you never knew you needed until you experience it..please do it...you will not miss the $1000 extra when you relive the entire trip in your head when you think of cruising...also make sure you bring extra cash for the Concierge and the Butler...for 7 days i would say tip the concierge $50 and the Butler $100. but thats just me...im sure everyone on this board from various demographics will argue more or less...

again...please cruise in the Haven...you deserve it.. you must compare it to a higher end hotel with all meals included when you financially try to justify it...Haven or bust!!!!

    Best,

    Mark

I couldn't agree more with this, do it lol!! Having sailed in the Haven previously and again this coming October, it is sooooooooo worth it!!!!

Its hard to look back though afterwards......and.....you never want to leave!

  8. Wow, this will be my 9th cruise and I never ever knew about the buying an obc before going on thing lol........how did I miss this hahaha? Just checked my account as I booked back in January 2015 and my exchange rate is 1.075.....yippee!!! I did prepay gratuities already and booked one excursion and they are all at that exchange rate.....yay! We will definitely buy some OBC to use as our cash onboard, what a smart idea, thanks everyone!!!!

Can you use this money to pay your bill at the end of the cruise or does that have to go on a cc?

  9. We stayed in an aft haven penthouse in May and absolutely LOVED it! I didn't feel left out at all but this was my first cruise in the Haven and I have nothing to compare to. The amazing view from our deck was well worth the little walk to get to the Haven restaurant and pool area. We had our butler serve breakfast on our deck many mornings and felt completely pampered! Have a great trip!

Thank you! We have stayed in the haven itself before and loved it, so this is first time enjoying the Haven outside the "courtyard".....so we were a little concerned, HOWEVER, the aft is my favourite place on the ship and I absolutely love the view there.....we will do that breakfast thing on the deck, sounds awesome!

  10. I forgot about Montys! Go for happy hour because if I believe their appetizers are all half price! The view is divine!

The girls would probably love to see The Mondrian which is almost next door.

Thank you, we will hit Montys for sure!!!!

Loews is booked, I am super excited now!!!! Just praying no pool closures while we are there......but at least there is the beach!!! Got great rate of $229 a night, oceanview with balcony, 2 double beds....happy with that!

  11. Any of the hotels are going to be astronomical for drinks but sometimes it is worth it.

    Hotels to hit:

    Poolside Delano

    Poolside Shore Club

    The SLS

    Rooftop The Hotel (The Tiffany)

    Rooftop One Hotel

Don't overlook rooftops anywhere in South Beach especially those facing West.

    Inexpensive places to dine

    Big Pink

    Havana 1957 (Espanola Way)

    Tap Tap

    Puerto Saga

    Pizza Rustica

    La Sandwicherie

    News Cafe (Ocean Drive)

    Front Porch Cafe (Ocean Drive)

Do not eat anywhere else on Ocean Drive. Bait and switch. $1.00 breakfast? $25 cup of coffee with no refills and if you complain they threaten to have you arrested.

Thank you, great info! Kinda scary about the bait and switch....yikes, we will completely stick to your list!!!

Chances are we will be eating lunches at wherever we are during the day, ie: taking girls to jungle island, zoo, aquarium etc but breakie and dinner by hotel or even go down to bayside - girls would like bubba gumps etc.....

Now I can't wait, only 117 days until we arrive in Miami, yay!!!

Thanks for all advice everyone!!! Hotel said that we can pay our one nights deposit and cancel and rebook if a better rate comes up, so that is good!!!
