  1. Sailed on the Joy back in September 2022, and had originally booked a Haven Family Suite. About 3 weeks prior to embarkment, I received a text offering Real Time bidding (was never offered any other bidding offer prior) and had no idea what it was. So I started throwing down some bids, most of which came back "out-bid" . Got up to the point where I decided I wasn't going any further and ended up as the highest bidder. Got spooked thinking I was going too far, buyers remorse... and completely backed out. Gave it some thought, spoke to the other people I was traveling with and decided to jump back in. So I began the bidding process all over again, and oddly enough the process went exactly the same as the first time... same bid amounts, same everything, until we reached the highest bidder again (same dollar amount) And that was where I stayed up until around 2 days before sailing when I received the official upgrade email and had the amount taken out of my account. In retrospect it didn't feel as though I was actually bidding against a real person the 2nd time I was going thru it, it really felt manufactured, almost as if Norwegian had it set up some way or something. But in any case, I ended up with the 2-bedroom haven suite which was pretty nice and I still paid less for it than if I had ordinally booked it. So, best of luck with your bid and enjoy your trip!
  2. DISCLAIMER: My responses are purely based on my experience using the real time bidding system and may or may not represent the company's intensions. Can you live bid on more that one category? You can only live bid on the category/room which is bidding as a Live Bid. You don't have any control over which category/room will bid this way. Some rooms are still bidding the traditional way. What if there are 5 of the same room, are you bidding on one or is it the top 5 are winning? No idea. This system is just as much of a mystery as the traditional way as far as who actually gets awarded. If just one room, do they start again for the other 4 rooms? There probably isn't enough time to do each room separately, I'm thinking it's all at once. Can you live bid on one category and bid the other way on other rooms. You probably could, but not simultaneously. The system will automatically cancel whichever bid is active and force you to start a new one. Or at least, this was my experience.. I had my bid going on for an H6, went back to the home page and started real time bidding on an H5. It automatically cancelled my H6 bid, which was my 1st choice. So, it forced me to cancel the H5 bid and restart the H6.
  3. Really no more stressful (or cheezy) than bidding with the traditional method. You're still bidding on an upgrade , but only if you want to and you can cancel the bid anytime you wish. If you get it, Great! And if not, that's Great too! You still have a room to travel in and you're still going on a beautiful vacation either way. .
  4. Peg, were you bidding with the Real Time bidding, or the typical bidding method? I ask because there doesn't seem to be a way to lower the offer in Real Time Bidding, or at least not that I can see. The only way I see to be able to do this is to cancel my current offer and risk not being able to get back in. I'm still in the low/medium range with my offer, so I'm comfortable going in. I've been bidding on the H6 villa, how did you like it?
  5. Yea, you're not kidding. Trying to maintain restraint while watching my bid go higher is a little difficult. Getting the bigger cabin would be nice but I still fine with whatever I end up with. I'm still in the Haven, how bad could it be?
  6. It will tell you on the real time bidding whether you're in the lead and if not, it will just have you bidding until you're either in the lead or at your top dollar amount that you wish to bid.
  7. Awesome! I'm holding out hope but still OK with whatever I end up with... Thanks!
  8. I don't believe there is a way to decrease the offer, seems like you can only up it. Plus, as Wolf stated, I'm not too sure I want to risk it at this point.
  9. No, no final date. I just checked it again today and it still says I'm in the lead. So just to make sure that my screen wasn't frozen or some other odd computer glitch, I threw in another $7 dollars to my bid. Came back once again that I'm in the lead. Seems strange after an entire week that I would still be in the lead with 20 other bidders, I'm not going in with any high end bid.
  10. Hi All! Sailing on the Joy on 9/1/22 and booked a Family Villa category HH. Received my upgrade notice weeks ago, and started bidding on a 2-bedroom villa, the large balcony villa on deck 17 category H6. Last week upon logging in to see if there' were any changes, I saw that the bidding process had changed to something called Upgrade Advantage Real Time bidding. I immediately began bidding with a final number in mind. It indicated that there were 20 other bidders in this same category I was bidding. Well, it went a few times until I finally received a notification on this same page that I was in the lead, and stated to consider raising my bid to better my chances. I decided at this point that although I wasn't at my final number, I would wait it out to see what was what. This was last week. I've checked everyday since then, it still still shows 20 other bidders and still says that I'm still in the lead and I've yet to hear if I've actually been awarded. There's only (7) days till cruise date. I've been checking the availability of this suite and see that where there were initially (2) available, now there is only one. I'm not sure if they're looking for me to actually up my bid, I really don't have any idea what's going on. Has anyone ever had this situation where you've gotten this far in the bidding process, and still not awarded the upgrade?
