Do we know that Viking uses shelf stable milk? I always use cream in my coffee and regularly have cappuccinos on the ship and have not noticed any weird taste problems from milk or cream.
At least half and half. 🤷🏼♀️

Artificial creamer maybe?
This is unbelievable. Chemicals. 🤬

I agree re the Living Room coffee but feel that, even then, the taste is compromised by the long life milk. Unavoidable I suppose.
“Long life milk” ? 😬

We have a dinner reservation at Mister S. Is it as yummy as it sounds?

Does anyone know how long the tour of the Guinness Storehouse takes? We have 11am tickets. Do I need to book lunch? Trying to figure out what time.

We were there in the summer and they had a shuttle that ran regularly from the ship to Merrion Square pretty regularly throughout the day. The drop off point is central and you can easily walk to many places you might wish to see from there.
Awesome!!! That's great. We are in port until 11pm so we would like to return and go out in the evening!!!

Can anyone tell me if Viking provides a shuttle from Dun Laoghaire to Dublin.

How is the transportation from the port into Dublin?

Are taxis easily available at the port?

SSP is up to 17US a glass, anything g above that is charged - a % ( not sure of % amount)
The wines included for all with meals are whatever the house wine is, choice of red or white
Sooooo what's included is one red, one white and one beer choice?
-
Thanks. If I understand correctly the wines on the list are included in the Silver Spirits Package but will otherwise cost what is listed. Are the wines that are "included" with lunch and dinner not listed anywhere? Are there additional wines available above and beyond the SSP?

Several years ago my debit card was compromised. NBD my bank took care of me but since then I only want to use an ATM inside a bank and sometimes one time had difficulty. (I think it was a Sunday) I need to be sure to plan ahead.

There is an exception. Even if you have SSP, they will charge for bottles of wine or hard liquor.
And I assume that the best wine is by the bottle not by the glass 🤔 and as on every other cruise line they will save the bottle from one meal to another.

Is Apple Pay widely used in Britain?

We took the "one with the dogs" last summer ... I don't remember what it was called then but it is now know as "Rural Shetland". We thoroughly enjoyed the excursion, despite the horrible weather! There were about 20 people and the drive was not noticeably long. We had lots of time to spend meeting the ponies, learning about the Shetland sheep (and their ponies do not bite) and watching the amazing dogs in action and learning how they are trained. The visit to the restaurant afterwards was lovely ... it was cozy and warm and the snacks (soup and bread) were delicious. It is one of our favorite Viking excursions.
Thank you so much. We booked it for May. Sounds exactly like I was hoping.

My tip, for what it’s worth: for Lerwick, only sign up for excursions you will get reimbursed for if Viking cancels your stop there. Due to weather conditions, they frequently have to skip the Shetlands. Sadly, that was the case for our cruise in September.
Thank you. That was my question on another thread. I understand that we can cancel with some number of hours notice. There is some question about that number. It is a ship excursion that I was asking about. If they cancel the port they will refund I assume.

I don't remember if it was an included one or extra. Once paid for months in advance it's all just gone money...🍹
👍🏻 Thank you.

Yes, "Scenic Tour".
The one with the dogs? Or the included one?

Hi,
The bus was not filled, maybe 30 on each of two busses. Total bus time about 2.5 to 3 hours. We enjoyed it. Pretty much the only way to get around other than hiring a car privately. Watch out for the ponies, they bite.😳
Thank you. The tour says 4 hours total. So was most of the time spent seeing the countryside?

Has anyone taken the Rural Shetland excursion? How large a group was there? How long was the bus ride? Did you enjoy it? TIA

And I've seen 36 hours. So where does that leave us?
Viking rarely has tours on Day 1 of an itinerary.
Day 2 is a problem as it is less than 24 hours. Cancel before you leave home, keeping in mind that MVJ closes for making changes 7 days before the start of the itinerary.
Day 3 is the day in question. If you want to play it safe cancel before MVJ closes.
Have you asked here? You can learn a lot from past cruisers. If you are going to ask, I suggest starting a new thread rather than burying the question in this thread. More people will see your question.
It’s later in a 14 day cruise. Mostly I’m trying to avoid long periods on a big bus. I have several very small group/ individual things planned. I like your advice. I’ll post the specifics. Thanks.

I believe you actually need 48 hours notice.
Thank you. That’s fine too. I just can’t get some details about some of the excursions before being on board.

You can cancel when onboard. The exception are excursions that occur on your first full day onboard. I believe you need 24 hours notice.
Wonderful. Thanks so much!

If you sign up for an excursion pre-cruise is there any possibility of canceling once you get more information onboard?
