  1. Questions for those that have been on the Getaway within the last month:

    1) What was the cost of the Vibe pass?

    2) What was the cost of the Vibe with Cabana and what came with it?

    3) What time did you arrive at port to get your Vibe pass and if you wanted one and didn't get one, what time did you arrive and what boarding group were you in?

Any other Vibe/Getaway information is appreciated as well. Thanks so much!:D

  2. I know there's been lots of discussion about food on NCL. I'm going to be sailing on the Getaway in early 2016 and would like to hear experiences with food specific to the Getaway in the last few months. What did you have that you loved and in what venue and was there an upcharge? Thanks for sharing your experiences! We have the UBP so we are going to need to consume a little food between all of the drinks we have on our list to try! ;)

  3. I thought I would share a real life very recent example of why I will always buy trip insurance. We were supposed to be on the Getaway a week ago. I had spent months researching and planning and we were so looking forward to it. My mom ended up having open heart surgery three days before we were scheduled to leave and her recovery has been anything but quick. I obviously didn't want to go on our cruise with her still trying to recover. The disappointment and worry of not being able to go has been somewhat offset by the fact that we purchased insurance. It has allowed me to put my thoughts where they should be, with my mom. I purchased the insurance using Insuremytrip.com to search for policies appropriate for our situation. I will always buy insurance for trips in excess of $1000 and anytime we are out of the country.

  4. After Final Payment, if the price of a higher category cabin drops to the price you paid for yours, NCL is not required to upgrade you. But if you do monitor and see the price for your sailing drop, many call in and have gotten upgrades and/or OBC. (If they get a 'No', they try calling again and talking with someone else.) I did thus this for my son's Inside cabin, and went from the 3rd lowest Inside category (ID) to the highest. Some have jumped up considerably (for example Inside to a Balcony) in extreme price drop cases! Again, there's no guarantee you'll get offered anything if you call, but from what I read on here, it's certainly worth it to try.

If you are looking for detailed info on categories (more than what NCL's website describes), I've found the spreadsheet one CC'r made (for the Breakaway/Getaway) to be helpful.

Here's the link to the thread; the spreadsheet link is in the first post.

And I absolutely love cruisedeckplans website for info, pics, deck plans, etc. of any ship. Here's the link to one of the Getaway pages. Click on "category details" under each category for a description.

Not sure if you'll get ads or not, or if you'll have access to all that the site offers, as I paid a few years back to be a lifetime member.

    Hope this isn't TMI. :)

Thanks for all of the great info Dales wife!

  5. I'm no expert but looks like you upgraded, to BC. I'm curious what sailing you are on and how far out you booked? And if you know if there had been price drops between the time you booked and were assigned?

We booked our BX balcony only a couple weeks ago, assigned a BD on deck 9, Aft.

Hope you enjoy your Norwegian experience. We've only done a couple of NCL, but love it! First time doing a GTY, so we're anxious to see how that goes.

We booked in August 2014 for a February 2015 cruise. Our cruise documents with stateroom number became available a couple weeks or so ago I think so I don't anticipate any further upgrades. Price drops - I didn't realize I should watch for price drops so don't know if there were any. Where can you find an explanation of what BX versus BC versus BD means? Thanks!

  6. I think we booked a Guarantee (GTY) rate. A balcony, BX. Now that our room is assigned on the Getaway, we have room 13732. That looks like an upgrade from the BX from looking at the deck plans. Am I right? Does anyone know any details? We are no longer 1st time cruisers but haven't been on many and we are Norwegian newbies. Thanks!

  7. We were in cabin 2297 which is a Cove Balcony on the 2/10/13 sailing of the Breeze. The layout appears to be exactly the same as cabin 10256 per the photos above. The only difference is you are on deck 2 close to the water. We loved it! Note, cove balcony 2297 does not have a lifeboat above it for those that are curious. We loved the Breeze. This was our second cruise.
