Cool Cruiser (2/20)

  1. On Viva last week, when you are given the WiFi login details don’t input your DOB/Surname there is a button bottom right that says “free websites”. Once you click that it logs you into a free login for selected sites and then allows iMessage in the background. not sure if this is a NCL new thing or just on Viva. Previously when logged into your account using DOB/Surname you could have internet access off and save your minutes but still use the app/imessage. This might have been the new fix by NCL but it’s definitely still possible.
  2. Have to ask for excursion discount to be applied. To beat the queues and if the desk is closed, get a GM letter slip and just write room number and discount to be applied and drop it in the shore excursion post box when the desk is closed. Works a treat and involves no queueing.
  3. You can still book a cruise after online check in closed, on the cruise lines website or via an agent. It’s not a legal requirement to have It done and they can do everything for you at the terminal. I Booked the day before and had no problems, no check in time means turn up when you want 😉 cabins left can be the ones people have upgraded from and are then vacant. I booked 3 days before on another and got a great balcony room assigned. Not for everyone I understand, but it is possible to get a great price, cabin and cruise last minute.
  4. It’s definitely possible to book last minute. Booked the day before sailing in Sept 22, chose my cabin and had no problems at all. Online check in had closed but just went to the terminal with my cabin number. Price seemed fair, about the going rate for a med cruise. Booked MSC 3 days before sailing last week, short med cruise. Meant I had no dining time allocated but easily rectified onboard. Online check in was still open and despite booking interior cabin was upgraded into a deluxe balcony. Regularly book last minute most cruise lines seem to allow it. Have seen NCL offers for on the day, but Virgin/MSC seem to stop selling the day before.
  5. Yes, dropped luggage with the porters. ground floor of the terminal was open with 4 check in agents with iPads who checked us in and gave us bracelets and told I come back at 2:30 (ish). very helpful service.
  6. Incase any other sailors are interested… We dropped luggage and checked in at 10am. Walked across (nice 20min walk with great views of the ship) to bayside. Came back just before 2pm and were in our cabin by 2:15pm. Initially queued in the allocated 4:30pm area but we were let in almost immediately as there was a steady flow of sailors. Might not always be the case, this voyage wasn’t full with around 2200 guests.
  7. Thanks all, indeed splash and romance has sold out for this sailing. Thanks for the tips, will plan on showing up early. Isn’t a sold out sailing with many cabins available today so hopefully won’t be too much of a wait.
  8. Hi, Booked last minute so got a 4:30pm embarkation time in MIA on Wednesday 21st for the 4 night cruise. Are they strict with this? Previously cruised NCL and the time was sold to me as very much a “covid thing” Will be checking out of the hotel late morning so looking for any tips on how to get onboard as soon as possible. Thanks
  9. Sailed on Joy in November 23 solo. Solo meet up was daily in Mattings whiskey bar and had a co-ordinator. It wasn't well attended.
  10. Excursion includes tendering ticket. Tendered last week and the early boats were very quiet anyway and nobody checked.
